I didn't watch because I had a feeling it was going to be rough

The last couple had their down points (like season 8's extendedly dull/weird agent and boyfriend getting blackmailed storyline) but this season's a whole new level of bad with the main story being far more simple and less nuanced than ever before. Also the dialogue given to (mainly) President Heller is just too much for suspension of disbelief. Maybe it's just the 12-episode format, but still. I think one of the bigger problems is there's no Jack left to explore. He's just...

...a caricature of the established Jack Bauer at this point. Running around doing his Jack Bauer things.
