  1. Heading to Dallas....where are the hotspots? Where is everyone going to be tailgating? Where are the best bars in Dallas?

    1. GSG

      GSG

Best bars? The best bar will be the bar of chocolate in Beebe's pants when we work the Sooners! lol

GSG...that's a given. GBR! But, after we handle the Sooners, I would like to pound a few brews to celebrate. If the establishment serving those brews also happens to be full of nice looking women, well that's just a plus.

  2. Here is one more! Sorry for the rant, and all the videos. I'm sure they are quite cumbersome for mobile viewers.

  4. My how this great game has changed. Players were once revered for their ability to strike fear into their opponents. Gone are the phrases that I have heard from coaches since I have played Pee-Wee football. "Play with bad intentions!" "Take somebodies head off!" "Put the fear of God in your opponent!" "Take that N on the side of your helmet and put it under somebodies chin! Right here!" Well, maybe they are not all gone, but the list goes on and on...The game these guys play today is very different from the one the great warriors in these videos played. I would love to hear what these monsters of the gridiron would say about this sissified game hidden under the guise of the football name. This game they call football is a violent game. No one can debate that. But I have watched, in my short time with this game, as rules continue to chip away at the game, itself. As scholarship limits encourage parity, so that everyone gets a chance given to them. Well, the way I was brought up, you earn everything you get and are given nothing. Nebraska earned all their Championships and Accolades with blood and sweat. But, apparently, it doesn't appeal to all the "fans" who show up on Saturdays unable to name any player on their team not featured on College Gameday. They may wear their teams colors, but I think it's an insult to call them fans. Limits on hitting and defensive players ability to put hands on opponents have created an environment that encourages high-scoring shootouts instead of hard fought defensive struggles. Why you may ask? Once again, to appeal to those casual "fans" who think defense is "boring." And, IMO, it's easier to field a top notch offense than it is to field a top notch defense. So, again, this favors the "little guy." So, to Eric Martin, (Yes, I know he won't read this, but I'm on my soapbox so back off! Lol) I say keep playing with that intensity Nebraska fans have come to love. Keep looking for that gamechanging hit. The Big 12 won't be able to touch you, next year. Don't let the higher-ups change the way you play this game. You, sir, are a throwback to those great players of ol', a true "Caveman" by today's standards. I, for one, miss the days when an overthrown ball over the middle meant punishment for a WR; the days when #1 receivers refused to go over the middle. I'm all for player safety, but where do you draw the line? I say, right here. GBR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oEgQARSzaI0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bx20th1gT4k
  5. Anybody get anything? If you do, please pass it along to me.
  6. I would really appreciate a PM as well.
  7. Ok State just received a commit from their 5th and final OL according to rivals. Javius Townsend from Dallas decommited from Tech to join the Cowboys. Gotta think that this takes them out of the running for Simek, but we'll see what happens.
  8. Any Chase Rome sightings, yet? He is due on campus today, right?
  9. I have been a pretty big Zac Lee hater this year, but he played really well last night. I don't post often, but I had to comment on the zone read he ran either late in the 3rd or early in the 4th. He looked to the sidelines after the play and said, "I was gone." I cracked up at that and had to run it back on the DVR to make sure I saw it right. I'm not questioning his ability to take it to the house, but I thought it was pretty comical. Anyway, I hope he gets well and gets ready for the spring. Nebraska's back and we're here to stay!
  10. I was happier to see the mizzou fans heading for the house in droves. But it was a big win, and a much needed one. It puts us in the early drivers seat in the north. GBR!
  11. I thought Swift would get the nod too. But, then again, there are a lot of talented wr's putting up huge numbers this year in the Big XII.
  12. The one I think that I hate the most is the hit on a defenseless receiver. When a receiver is overthrown over the middle, a punishing hit is a key tool to stopping the passing game. Lay a lick, and give the receiver alligator arms next time. Many hall-of-fame safeties have made a career by saying to the receiver, "You may catch it, but you're going to pay the price." In fact, it is sacrifice that makes this game great. Eating right, working out 6-7 days a week, and practicing. Doing whatever it takes to ensure that you can give all you can to your team. Keyshaun Johnson used to be revered for his courage to go over the middle. Now, any receiver can, because they don't have to take the hits. Babying qb's is trash, as well. They are still football players. Protecting the knees, I understand, but a call like this is excessive. Potter made a great play and delivered a vicious, but legal hit. It's a team game. The OL's have to protect the qb. The qb has to make good decisions and deliver the ball in a timely manner. The receiver must catch it. A footballl team is the sum of its parts. Like Polamalu said earlier this year, some of the greatest players in the history of the game would struggle to play within the rules of today.
  13. Hey guys. I'm coming to Lincoln with some buddies this weekend to see the game. With the late kickoff, we were wondering where to hang out, eat, drink, and watch football all day in preparation for the game. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  14. IMO, Lucky's running style very closely resembles that of last highly-touted running back to wear number 5 at Nebraska....does the name David Horne ring any bells? Inability to hit the hole. All the "experts" spoke about their speed, but rarely did either back show it. Too much lateral movement and juking, not enough running down hill....Trying to force the home run every play instead of letting it develop.
  15. I definitely think that VA Tech is a game that we can win. They lost 7 starters on their defense, including Flowers and their entire LB corps. VA Tech's running game wasn't spectacular with Brandon Ore. Now, Ore is gone, along with the next two in line to fill his spot. Their offense isn't that impressive, definitely ball control relying on the defense and special teams to win games. I'm not a fan of the 2 QB system. Glennon is mediocre, and Taylor is mainly a run threat, IMO. If we can get up early, I think the game is our's to lose. As for the OU in the late 90's, I see a lot of similarities. Bo is following a stellar recruiter, as did Stoops (John Blake, hmmm that name is familiar). The talent is there. Stoops won early with big, physical O-Line play, a very strong running game, and stingy defense, all of which we are attempting to reclaim at Nebraska. I wear my rose-colored glasses proudly even though I call the Sooner State home. You can all say I'm drinking the Kool-Aid, but I don't think that 10 wins is out of the question. NOT great odds, but not out of the question. Regardless, I am ready to see the return of the Blackshirts!!!!! YOU CAN'T WIN...IF YOU CAN'T SCORE That was always one of my favorite slogans.
  16. I'm sure someone has already called this, but did you notice stevie p. for a split second after cory scores on the trap. I've seen this video before, but I just noticed that.
  17. Nope. Not me, but I do sport a Nebraska hat regularly.
  18. Thanks. It is very helpful. I have another question. I just got my tickets and I am trying to figure out how good the seats are. I know where the section is from the layout map, but I wasn't sure how the seating worked. Section 24 Row B Seat 19. Any feedback is appreciated.
  19. Whats up? I'm a Husker fan, but I attend school at Oklahoma State. I am going to the Lincoln for the OSU - Neb game but have never been to a game before. Where is the best places to pre and post party?
  20. 'Nuff Said. I agree. That's what matters.
  21. Ruud's greatest asset, imo, is his consistency. His athleticism has come into question, but that is not why he sees the field. He is not the type of player, like I think Octo can be if healthy, that can make freakish plays and take over a game. He is smart, and this puts him where he is supposed to be a great percentage of the time. Against the run, he won't blow through a lead blocker and bury the ball carrier. But, he will fill the hole and wrestle the halfback down any way necessary. He makes all the mundane plays. He doesn't have the athleticism to make the circus catch interception. He gets his interceptions by knowing the scheme, being in the right place at the right time, and the QB makes a mistake. He is very good at closing the passing windows. Gotta love the lineage though. Go Big Red!
  22. The new facilities won't even be ready until 2008...and they haven't even started to build yet so that may be an optimistic time period. Boone Pickens Stadium is a wreck. You probably saw it during that disgrace of a game here in Stillwater. There is a huge pit on the West side of the stadium. The jumbotron is on a crane. I don't understand the attraction. I go to school at OSU, and I live in Stillwater. It is not a very big city, but the night life is pretty good. I have really been impressed with Gundy and his staff. They have made huge strides in recruiting. I don't know how they sell it. Richetti Jones remarked something along the lines of not wanting to be another great player in a long line of great players, but wanting to build something new with a less storied program. Also, I agree that OSU is a team on the rise, but if you follow OSU like I have, you know deep in your heart that no matter how much money Boone Pickens pumps into this program they are destined to fail. Even if they surprise some people in the South, they will drop a game or two to North teams or lose Bedlam. It's just something I have come to expect. They also lost their Defensive Coordinator, Vance Bedford, and they plan on making a hire after the recruiting signing period is over. I expect the offense to be great, maybe the best in the conference. Reid and Robinson back at QB, Savage and several good backups at RB, Bowman, Devereaux, Parks, Price plus Dez Bryant, Damian Davis, and Hubert Anyiam coming in at WR, T Corey Hilliard and G Kurt Seifried graduate on the OL. Plus, look out for TE Brandon Pettigrew this year. He is big with soft hands, and the speed to run a little after the catch. They look really strong on Offense. On defense, the Cowboys lose their entire front. Both DE's Victor Degrate and Darnell Smith graduate, but Marque Fountain and Nathan Peterson both saw good minutes and highly touted, aforementioned, Richetti Jones is on the way. Larry Brown, Xavier Lawson-Kennedy, and Ryan McBean are all gone on the D line. They have four DT's coming in, Juco Tonga Tea should make an impact at 6' 315. All their LB's are back, plus Jared Glover and two Texas recruits. Martel Van Zant, Jacob Lacey, and Perrish Cox all saw time at CB and will return, plus Cole and Broyles. Donovan Woods and Andre Sexton return at FS and SS, respectively. Cox is downright scary. At times he is scary good, and at other times you can't stand to watch for fear of a fumble. K and P are back. Overall, they look poised to make some waves in the Big XII South. It will be exciting to see. Between the Hedges at Athens, GA is a tough place to start your season. October will be brutal with back-to-back road trips to College Station and Lincoln followed by Kansas State at Boone Pickens and then a trip down the road to Norman. Next, they open November hosting Texas. I would expect them to drop at least 3 out of the five toughest games on the schedule (@UGA, @A&M, @Neb, @OU, Texas), maybe even all 5. KState could also sneak up on them wedged in between four huge games. I hope for the best, but realistically I see another 7-8 win season in store for the Cowboys.
  23. Ya. His speed is incredible. He was standing at the goal line waiting for the ball. A glimpse into the future.
  24. Did you see that Fly Boy with the Nebraska Hat? Ha Ha
