  1. It will be setted with dueling pistols and noon on saturday in the center of the football field. The winner gets a bigger part of the ticket and gets to shoot the weinerschlinger during at opposing players from the sideline.
  2. Who are you talking about. Something has happened to my memory. The last thing I remember is winning agains Michigan and now Bo is the head coach. Everything else has been forgotten.
  3. Don't worry about Ron Brown. He brings as much fire as Pelini and is not just a tutor of football but a tutor of life. Something sorely missing since Blake left on the BC staff. A man like Ron Brown brings more to the table than I can put into words. In addition he's also a fine recruiter.
  4. The only problem I have with Bo is he hasn't been here for 4 long years!@
  5. Ya know 4 years down the road and he doesn't screw up Pitt like Nebraska i think there will be some very interesting questions about why did so good with Pitt but yet screwed up his alma mater. I couldn't imagine how you can run AD at other schools and do good but yet screw up your own? I'm guessing some of it might have been retaliation for his treatment when he was starting out and..? Just a hunch..(Back to rumorville?) I got nuthin' That or he's just an egomaniac dork with his head stuck someplace that it shouldn't be and his mouth was writing checks that you couldn't cash Starting out as AD or starting out his career? I was just speculatin'..(career) Didn't he start out in the recruiting dept? I was talking to my Sister shortly after Ped was axed (no..this isn't one of those rumor stories all too plentiful, lately)..Anyway, she was telling me about a cousin of ours that I'd lost contact with after college. And telling me that they were friends..(I was shocked that Pederson had friends, but you read about them all the time). I guess they were teammates at North Platte on the Gymnastics team..Not sure if Ped went on to compete at UNL. I really didn't mean to start any rumors, I was just writing out loud, trying to 'splain why he might do better at a place he didn't have a history with. (before his 1st AD gig)..Maybe someone in the Football dept. pissed him off, and subconsciously? he tried to tear it down.. (I'm really reaching here). It's the arm chair amateur psychologist in me.
  6. I'm glad he's no longer here but I wish him luck where ever he ends up. Maybe he's a lousy coach, maybe it just wasn't a fit, maybe maybe maybe. It really doesn't matter. The point is it didn't work here but as long as he's gone I'm letting it go. Good luck coach.
  7. One I recall, I believe it was Damon Benning back to recieve a punt agains UCLA. Acted like he was going to catch the ball with the UCLA guy coming down the field to cover. At the last second he drop his shoulder stepped up and put a pop on the cover guy. Ball goes into the the endzone and the dudes lights were not out but really dim. Totally sandbagged him.
  8. I tried to do the same thing and I'm still scrubbing the crayon off my computer screen?
  9. I agree with what you are saying. The scholorship limits have not caused any programs to fall. It merely caused others to rise. Some of the best college football ever seen will occur during this decade. It's time to separate the coaches that can develop what they've got from those that need to get back on the porch. Personally I think that it gives us a huge boost because now kids from all over the country must compete to get schollys at schools like Nebraska that doesn't have a coastline but has a scholly available.
  10. OMG, If I here one more person ask about Solich coming back I'm going to sh*t my pants and eat it, because that would be more enjoyable than having Solich back! Well then, "How about we bring back Solich". Enjoy your lunch........again and watch out for peanuts!
  11. Two comments: First with a post like that you are not an outsider, think of yourself as extended family. Second, I don't know much about bama football other than when I was young they were it. We always had these big family reunions and the dads, uncles etc. would huddle around a black and white tv with rabbit ears and watch bama play. The picture was lousy and someone was always trying to "fix" the rabbit ears to get a better picture. At best it went from terrible to bad. In any case bama was it. Even today many of us still expect a great deal out of them. It's a great place for football and the Tide will always be the Tide. Nothing like Keith Jackson calling a Tide game. It's a shame there are no more like him around anymore either. A guy who really was a professor of the college game. Now we are stuck with a bunch of wanna bees and will never bees from ESPN
  12. Well when I was in High School I worked at McDonalds in Hastings and we parked him while he waited on his fillet of fish. It was near closing time and we forgot about him and locked the doors. He came up and knocked and was very polite but you could tell he was a bit upset. Anyway he got his fillet of fish sandwich, one of two he orderd and left. It was funny because everyone in the whole place nearly messed themselves because someone parked Tom Osborn and then forgot about him. He should have stuck around. He could've gotten free sandwiches for life if the manager had her way about it. True story. You know that was the second time I ever saw him in person. Years earlier when my grandfather was in Madonna he would come up to visit, I believe it was his mother and he'd always stop by and say high to my grandfather. My folks and aunts made a real big deal about it but I was so young I didn't really know who he was. I do recall my grandfather smiling when the one time I saw him come in and shake his hand. My grandfather was recovering from a stroke and I remember he didn't smile much back then. As a kid I still remember feeling a whole lot better because of that smile. It wasn't much but as a little duffer that smile made a really scary place seam not so scary any more. That was maybe the last time I saw him smile before he passed away the following winter.
  13. Please show me the long list of great LB's the coz coached at WI that went on to the pros and then tell me that it was all a lack of talent here at Nebraska. I suppose it's the same lack of talent that had our rush ends sitting on the line of scrimmage and never in the backfield last year. I suppose it's the same lack of talent that Steve O has. Ruud may not be the best backer we've ever had but if you are correct in placing the blame totally on his shoulders then we must have zero talent on defense because they were nearly dead last in the nation. We can criticize Rudd all we want but there was something totally screwed up on defense this year and I can't help but think that effected the play of Ruud and others. If you recall Barret had plenty to say about what he learned from Jimmy Williams and Pelini. Once they arrived he came into his own. Coaching matters a whole lot more than we often realize and I'm not ready to throw the latest Ruud under the bus. I'm not so sure you would not have had similar performances with the best talent in college football under this staff.
  14. Turner Gill is a very different person than Frank Solich. I honestly believe that Turner will do very well. I agree. Here's the way I see it. TO was looking for someone with the raw charectoristics that he could put into a program that to be honest still has a lot going for it. IMO TO will stick around long enough to groom Turner into the coach he has the ability to become. Don't forget that Turner was also one of TO's best recruiters, has always been spoken highly of while at NU and at UB, and has been described by many to be very intelligent. He's not a firey guy like Pelini but he may have more substance. Fire can get you a lot but if that's all you have then sooner or later you will have a down Saturday and you will not be able to overcome it. Turner may have the skills to build a solid foundation, pick coaches that can do the same and still have a firey guy on staff for motivation. Sometimes the cheerleading is best left to the assistant coaches and not the HC.
  15. If we completely forget how football has changed I still believe he would have had a tough time. Many of us forget how much he was suffering from fatique. The man gave his all and earned the respect of the fans and with respect I say he made the right decision for him and his family to leave when he did. I also give him credit for being a whole lot smarter than I am. If he felt it was time for him to go then it was.
  16. I'd say that's a fine story by the ethically challended. Worthy of the National Liar/enquirer..........is that bird cage liner even around anymore?
  17. Wasn't TO that recommended that LP for go his senior season and go into the draft. TO played him in that game to give him a chance at a future. The same reason TO is letting BC stay. In both cases it doesn't mean you get a free pass. I agree that BC had a shot but I'm not so sure now.
  18. I am just curious if anyone feels CU will pull out every trick play they can come up with for this game. I know the fans were a bit miffed and suspect Hawkins was as well after last years game. Frankly I found it extremely entertaining. It makes me wonder though if Hawkins will have a few tricks of his own especially considering the play of our defense for most of the year.
  19. They said on the radio last night that they are bound by Big 12 rules to go if invited because it means money for the conference. Not sure how accurate the statement is but they made it sound as though NU wouldn't have a choice in the matter if invited.
  20. A" Higher-Up" represents anyone with an IQ higher than 50. Unfortunately, with Bill Callahan, this is not the case... Boy do I feel stupid. I thought he was talking about how he was going to hire UPS to overnight his resume and job application all over the NFL. You know those guys in Brown do a pretty fine job. The other possible scenario is that he was hoping that he would be "hired by UPS". He's been driveing everyone out of Memorial Stadium he may as well drive a few packages out of the athletic department as well.
  21. It's simple. Action 3 yas a 50/50 chance of being right even if they are making stuff up at this point. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Coz has lost the defense and BC has stated he will not make a coaching change thus BC would need to go. It also doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the offense which was performing early in the year went into the tank and thus BC is to be held accountable there so he must go for this reason as well. You could make the statement today that BC will be fired after the CU game and still have a 50/50 chance of being right. IMO action 3 is simply playing the odds and making statements that we can never prove accurate on inaccurate. If TO waits until after the CU game they will simply say that the plan was this and they ended up doing that because BC did this. It's all spin and bad reporting or Action 3 has the inside track to the football program. Keep in mid however I doubt it's the latter. Travis and others in 590 have openly criticized UNL for their relationship with pinnacle or whoever has the games because they feel they get the brush off for interviews. Look at it this way. You've got the largest signal in Nebraska and your big sport is Creigton basketball because you can't carry the NU games. Big signal with nothing to offer the rest of the state.
  22. If you graduated form ISU, you could spell loser, with the number of games lost, they all know how to spell it. I have a life thanks. BTW, it's meant not ment. BEAT KSU!! Pssst...it's "from" not "form". Just a wild guess but are you a graduate from the ISU School of Journalism? Ha! Spelling a word wrong when calling out someone else's spelling. Classic. siht si yaw oot ynnuf. I ekil ot epyt ni eht rorrim
  23. I'd say you missed one important aspect TEACHER You could list a thousand qualities but if you don't have this one you've got a problem
  24. You must be a winner, you can't even spell loser!! Yeah, I graduated from Iowa State. Get a life, you know what I ment. ...T_O_B don't throw a rench in his argument. Watt are you talking about? Witch post is the problem? Knot every one is a great at spelling. You are right we all No what you meant. Just having fun with you. I hope my speling Meats with approval. Hey at least it stiffles the winning for a little bit.
  25. Since you asked the question I really don't know which one is more loose thus being looser. Not to pick on anyones spelling, sentence structure or vocabulary but personally the title of the post might be the only complete answer to your question. I'll be the first to admit I would have flunked english in highschool if I hadn't been so cute. Frankly I don't believe either program is a loser. They may be losing but not losers. Sorry I just find great humor in losing vs. loosing and loser vs. looser. Somebody wrote looser on a car down the street a while back. We joked that only a loser would spell it looser. If you know, now, no what I mean. He He He
