It kind of sounds like a group of prima donnas, doesn't it? This is what a lot of people feared, I think, when we stopped a lot of the walkon stuff and moved away from our traditional ways of playing the game. You've got a bunch of kids who think they're all-stars playing for an incompetent coach who can't motivate, can't teach football, but more importantly, he can't teach life. If this story is true, Keller's already resorted to playing the blame game, and beware, nothing worse can happen to team unity than that. Of course he fails to mention his ridiculously underthrown/overthrown passes in there. It's the offensive line...yeah.... McKlown is just about as useless as you get. Not only can he not tackle or play football, he manages to drag down the entire team while he's at it, and then embarrass us all in public. If I were the coach and this stuff was really going on, I'd cut him. No joke. At least bench him for the rest of the season. But personally I'd rather his big mouth not be around any other players. X Well put.
  2. I think if we had some really high-caliber, difference-making players one of them could make a play and score a touchdown just on their superior athletic ability. You just never see it, they can't even fluke out a long play downfield.
  3. I can't imagine how good our defense could be with Pelini as Head Coach and Mike Stoops as Defensive Coordinator. The best sure tackling I have ever seen in any game was when Stoops was co-coordinator for his brother as OU won the National Championship against Florida State and only gave up a SAFETY. If defense wins championships that would be a powerful coaching duo.

Good teams have leadership and discipline. This one has neither.
  5. LOL. Probably not, but one thing is for certain and that is they'd be in peak physical shape. Osborne's teams were well known for their conditioning and being badass and strong late in games. Just the fact that the Huskers didn't pad up much for practices earlier this season makes me question their overall conditioning and you know it has to kill their physicality and toughness.
  6. I'd like to see him strap on a set of balls and run up the field for 10 or 20 yards once or twice in a game. Then opposing teams would have a lot more respect for him as a multi-purpose QB. I don't know if he's fast enough to get that far before getting creamed. It is limiting that he can't or won't take off when nothing develops downfield.
  7. Amazing. We used to rule in October... Great names. I think Jared Tomich was the fastest big dude I ever saw.
  8. Didn't hear that but I can sure picture it. The overall broadcast seemed very tense and awkward at times among the three in the booth today. Rose typically makes a comment and says "Adrian" completely disregarding the fact that Matt Davison is also in the booth, but a few times today he said "Adrian and Matt" and it was odd sounding. Another time Davison cheerily said something to Rose like, "Looks like we agree for once," and then Rose nervously chuckled and said "that's not true." Adrian really struggled to make his point one time when the ball was thrown too high and it took him about five sentences to just make that simple declarative statement. Felt bad for him at that point. Rose kept me from falling asleep one time when he did that annoying shriek thing when NU did something remotely good. I guess everything is easier when you're winning games so it's probably damn tough to be a broadcaster this season. Given all of that, I still always like listening to the Husker broadcasts on the radio and appreciate the all-day coverage from KFAB Radio.
  9. I'm appreciating what Zac Taylor, Brandon Jackson, Carriker, Bradley, et. al, did last year more and more. I'm not really pining for the past so much as I think we had lots more talent last year on both sides of the ball. No one ever makes any plays this year. I hear a lot of people say there is a lot of talent on this team but for one reason or another it never reveals itself. Great players make big plays even on bad teams. We don't overpower people, nor do we outrun people. We have no one like Macklin from Mizzou or Bowman for OSU. I'm ready for the return to having the nice blend of All-American superstars and the dedicated, high-energy athletes who might not be as talented but will certainly help you win lots of games and not hurt ya by dropping passes, missing tackles, sustaining penalties. My undefeated junior high teams had more discipline than this current crop of Huskers. Rant over.
  10. Surely that day can't come soon enough for Callahan and everyone who cares for Husker football. Go on take the money and run, as the song says.
  11. That was great. I can't imagine what it must have been like to get tackled by Peter & Co. Had to hurt.
  12. It's been months since we have busted a big play for a TD and for once a player breaks free with nothing but daylight ahead of him and is tackled at the 1 by a fat-assed, middle-aged streaker with a big OU tatooed on his rear end.
  13. That was big. I'd love to know what TO was thinking when they completely blew that opportunity. Stoic on the outside I'm sure, but the wheels had to be turning. Nothing ever goes right for this team.
  14. IBR, put me on your PM list please.
  15. Pronunciation has always been a problem as well.
  16. Maybe that wouldn't be that big of a deal since receivers have only caught 5 TDs all year.
  17. Nice thought that NU can still win the North, but there's no way I can get to the place where Osborne lets Callahan remain as HC. It's unimaginable and preposterous. I don't think a flamethrower could cut the frost in their relationship.
  18. "Big Red Machine." Haven't heard that expression in awhile. Like the sound of it, though.
  19. I'm just glad we're not playing Texas Tech this weekend. They are scary explosive. Big Red wins an ugly one Saturday.
  20. Nice corroboration. The Fat Lady will be making her appearance soon to usher out the Callahan Era.
  21. Great post. I think you nailed it here. Rock on I Bleed Red.
  22. any coach that does not want help from tom osborne is a fool who is so full of himself that he will never be a productive coach. I remember when I went with my dad to one of larry browns practices at KU. coach brown came up to my dad and asked him for coaching advise. larry brown.... asking an NAIA coach for advice. I have seen dana altman sit down and pick my dads brain for hours..... does that mean that my dad is a better coach and that they dont know what they are doing?? NO!! it means they they want to look at every angle, and do whatever they can to improve..... even if it means asking an NAIA coach. TO is one of the greatest coaches ever. there isnt a coach alive that couldnt learn something from him Very interesting post. You make some great points, especially your last sentence. Maybe Callahan will welcome any Osborne mentoring with an open mind and genuinely want to learn something, but somehow I doubt it.
  23. Strength and conditioning seem to have slipped a bunch. Other teams seem fast and strong, we look slow and weak. Hard to stay in games when you're getting your ass kicked every play. Kind of wears on ya. McKeon is a mouthy, smart alec. Shut up and hit somebody.
