  1. They do depending on what the defense does. Plus the set audibles. Cody has to know the plays, he cant burn timeouts and stuff b/c he doesnt know the play, or go one direction and the rest of the team goes another. He has to know all his reads and his check downs. He cant expect a WR to run a 10 yard curl and the reciever's real route is a post. That's a pick-six waiting to happen. Its still a mouthful to call one play, he's got to know it completely and understand it. He cant confuse the line and the sets. Sure he would be way better doing zone read running plays with Robinson all day, and sprinkled in a couple of passes here and there. But will the offense be capable to take on 8 guys in a box and move the ball "at will"? That's nonsense. There's a lot going on. If he isnt ready, he aint ready yet. Yet. But he may be by the weekend, or the following week with more reps, reads and practice. And if something happens to Zac, then he'll go in and at that time while they piecemeal it to get by. If the offense puts up a turd in the first half though, I'm confident that Green will go in, they'll get by the rest of the game with him and with any success, they'll prep him the following week and he'll start against OU.
  2. If it happens or not, doesnt matter knowing today, tomorrow, before kickoff, or when something official comes out. BTW Welcome to the Board 2001 Miami Hurricane
  3. serious question? has a football team ever hit triple digits? I actually heard this on Sirius sometime last week & do not remember specifics. But during the turn of the 20th century some nationally known team won like 238-0 and the game was called in the third quarter!
  4. We havent seen our defense melt down yet, and most teams with a great defense usually have one game a year like that. If our defense struggles at all this year, this would be the game, and not the following weeks against OU and KU. Its time our offense performs the way they are capable and I think they do it this weekend and eventually pull away from the Bears. Since that isnt guarenteed, Huskers by 13.
  5. Despite the Cyclones ripping the ball from him, Robinson ran hard, determined, hit the hole, and had some good jukes. Dude looked tough and ready. Needs to cool down a bit when he gets up after each carry. He's just pumped though. No commit on the Green thing. Its been exhausted enough.
  6. What I find most bizarre about this is, running isn't the majority of our game. In our last three games we've passed 56% of our plays. If we're so concerned about run-blocking WRs, THEN RUN THE BALL MORE. If the majority of your offensive snaps are pass attempts, plan for that and have your best pass-catching guys in. I agree with you both. Should be hearing them constantly preaching running routes, catching, coming to the ball, and running after the catch. The WCO worked well in San Fran b/c that's what Rice and Taylor did on those short routes. Not blocking. Sure it would be good if it were the days when we had wingbacks and split ends. But we have true recievers and not Ross Pilkingtons, Grant Mulkeys and Ron LeFlores. They should really ease up on the blocking part of it.
  7. Linebackers are playing better than the first few games and that's good to see. I've still been a little skeptical with single coverage or when I see our corners downfield one on one. They have improved since last year and thats encouraging. There's no such thing as a shut down corner, but they are rarely looking back at the ball downfield. The corners and safeties and LBs are doing good against short passes. The safeties are helping out on running plays and not biting as often on play action as much. Could use some more picks by the secondary. Overall as a group, they are doing better and better. And that's what we wanted and had hoped.
  8. Fellas... This thread is the closest thing to an actual civilized discussion in some time. Not much venom, insults, and hate. Keep up the good stuff. There's a lot of questions for us Husker fans and its good to discuss, make a case and understand other ppl's views. A lot of it points to the QB spot and there are good points being made. There's not much we can do, other than have good football talk and support our Huskers. Things will be okay. I believe. Its all I can do. Go Huskers
  9. Create a new Husker message board that would include these topics ONLY: Which Husker did you hate this past Saturday! I heart Cody Green BLACK OUTS Bring back option football;WCO sucks! FIRE HIM NOW! Pick a coach Boo and be loud! Its fun and my right! Rumourville More Cody Green (He won the heisman on my PS3) ESPN Hates us Saturday Night Meltdowns and Tantrums and Fits All other stuff Because half the members would easily spend time 24x7 on it after a loss
  10. Its still a rival game with lots of history. Doesnt matter who is favored to win or if OU is favored by several touchdowns. Win or lose I'll watch that game regardless. Go Huskers
  11. Things havent been great. I'll still support the Huskers win or lose. Coaches & players - they are all trying the best they can. Sometimes the other team outplays you, makes better decisions, or their team effort outperforms you. I'm looking forward to Satruday. The Huskers will be okay. Go Huskers
  12. Anytime the Huskers will be on the tube I'll be right there watching and rooting win or lose. Cant wait for Saturday to get here. We'll be okay. Go Huskers
  13. That's interesting.. cool, thanks CMB
  14. This season is not a nightmare, its just not going as according to our needs, wants and expectations. Still lots of football to play. Its tough right now, but keep cheering on your team, win or lose. Things will be okay. That's what I believe. Go Huskers
  15. Then he is counting on the Huskers to self-destruct. I still have confidence in the Huskers, that things will turn around, the offense will gel at some point, and the ball will bounce in their favor. However it gets done, it'll happen. Huskers will take at least 2 of 5 to get eligible. But I see them doing better than that. I've seen enough football that a few terrible weeks can be followed by a few tremendous weeks.
  16. I like it except for the bold part. Unfortunately, too many dorks are all hyped up over how Green dominates in their mind.
  17. lol.. yep.. excactly Good lucky Cy. Your team has been good and playing competitively. Should have beaten KU dammit.
  18. Cool, Cool.. What a tough week for him. I'm curious to see how he'll respond. I'm glad he's getting the nod. Hope he plays like he is capable of.
  19. Call me crazy, but I believe the best D we've faced so far this year was VT. We ran the ball 30 times for 207 yards. I'm wondering if we're attacking the D when running the ball in the right formations and schemes. If our OL was able to handle the most talented and gifted D we've faced, why can't they handle TT? See that is the interesting thing, because VT is definitely the best D we have faced. How do we manage nearly 150 more yards rushing on 6 more attempts against VT, as compared to TT? TT's defense is good. Not very good, not great, but good. It shouldn't have been an issue running the football. It comes down to the play calling and execution. It's working in some games, and in others it looks just horrible. TTech's defensive line was pretty darn good, and a lot better than our offensive line. They didnt even load up the box. Helu was noticeably banged up and not himself again, no Burkhead to carry the load, and no faith in the "committee backup RBs". It makes you wonder, well definately me, how in the world do they think they can just start running the ball with success? When its painfully obvious that it hasnt happened consistently all season. I just dont get it when I hear "We're gonna run the ball..." when they've been trying all season. I just think all the signs indicate there is no earthly way. Not unless this O-line improves greatly & the passing game keeps the defense honest.
  20. Because most teams have played 5 games. They are better now and gelling more then they were in Week 1, 2 or 3. And the game against VT was mostly all Helu. He broke tackles at the line of scrimmage. He busted outside. He ran through and around and over guys. It wasnt the result of a dominating offensive line.
  21. Nice post Until the Huskers are National Champs, it will always be about the journey. And sometimes these weeks fly by so fast, its hard to believe we are half way through the season... A lot more football left which is awesome
