  1. Thought the black socks thing looked tough during 97 (Frost, Green, etc). Also liked the all red socks during the Crouch years (home games).
  2. I'm wondering, because I have no clue, after TO evaluates the coaching staff, does he make the decision on his own? Or does he solicit (poor choice or lack of words) a few good close friends for support with the decision? And then, if he decides to hire a new coach, does he turn to those peeps for that support for their input as well? Interesting... Who would those guys be? McBride, etc?
  3. I have no idea how he would do as a college coach. But he is a great NFL coach. He needs a certain type of player, and those players clearly understand what is expected of them and work together to win. He's a great NFL coach.
  4. It should be clearly understood that you dont win on paper. The potential is there though.
  5. Will be interesting to see if some of these recievers can become playmakers. And the LB situation - will be interesting to see how they develope as well.
  6. I was hoping we would score 80 or 90. I felt happy for the players and the coaches. I enjoyed it a lot. Especially after getting whipped the week before, and all season long. It felt good to drop 73.
  7. Took the time, did the research. Whoever is the coach, or returns as the coach, the talent, experience, depth, and new class looks very promising. 8. I think the best thing for the Huskers is to prepare them to play all out with confidence and nothing to lose. And it was actually Bill McCartney (promise keepers guy) that started the whole rivalry when he became the coach. He said CU didnt have a rival when he got there. So he pointed towards NU, circled it in red, and wouldnt even let his players ever wear anything red. The heated torch was then passed on to Rick Neuheisel, then to Gary Barnett. I'm not sure if they are allowed to wear red since McCartney, but they did continue the rival and big time hate towards NU.
  9. I'll stop you right there. This is my answer: Leader. Courage. Winning Attitude. Patience. Teaching ability. Listening & caring. Managing skills. Open Door (for players, coaches, AD, coworkers, former players.) Honesty & integrity. Focused & driven. Sportsmanship. Humility. Embrace Husker Tradition. Some previous experience as a college football head coach. Highly recommended by people who previously worked with him. No history of shady behaviour. Puts players and coaches in positions to succeed at football & life. Has experienced winning as a player and coach. Is a classy individual to the media, the fans, and to the opponents. Can take a loss after a game with praise to the other team, and a "we'll get 'em next time" attitude.
  10. after all of the heat the BC has taken for the throat slash, do you really think Husker Nation would want a coach that show emotion one finger at a time Maybe when Glenn flipped 'em off he was saying that.. he... had it up to here.
  11. Of course the team should go to a Bowl if eligible and invited. Wouldnt be the first time the Huskers played & won a bowl game without a head coach. FLASHBACK. I can only imagine, the Huskers rally a bowl game victory with an interim HC, such as Watson. Chants of "We Want Shawn!" "We Want Shawn!" echoing after a victory. And offensive linemen talking about how they would block wind and rain for Watson.
  12. Welcome to the board. And thank you for taking the time and providing some insight. This is some good stuff to consider.
  13. ETR, I know what you are saying. No one likes to see a man beaten down to death. I will also say that he had a chance to come across as humble man, take it on the chin, admitt to some mistakes, embrace new ideas. Simple stuff. Instead he spins everything and has been beyond egocentric, full of pride and arrogance. The whole ride. The entire time. I cant sympathize for someone like that. Not one time in his four year career did he call Steve Pederson "the higher ups". He is slapping Dr. Tom right in the face each time he says that. He keeps distancing himself from Nebraska, the fans, the supporters, the AD, the chancellor, etc. I wanted him to do well here, but he never got it. Instead of adapting to the Nebraska way, he wanted Nebraska to adapt to his way. Dude is outnumbered.
  14. Even a return of Cally/Coz? You guys are just too funny! And thanks, X , for throwing in Solich. Hah hah! I think y'all know what ah mean.
  15. I'm going to keep my N sticker on my truck. I'm going to keep watching the games at the sport bars. I'm going to keep rooting for the Cornhuskers to win. Regardless who the coach is. But keep in mind that fans are within their rights to be critical of the team they support. I think Callahan has separated himself each day. Never called or refered to Steve Peterson as "higher ups". He could have tried some humility and Husker fans prolly would have sympathized and rallied around him (not all, but the good hearted ones). Instead he keeps distancing himself from the state, the AD, the chancellor, the fans. He cannot open his fat mouth without praising himself. He has always been a bit of a pr!ck and I'll be glad when he's gone. If he stays, I'm still rooting for Nebraska, but not for his sorry ass.
  16. I think it's all coming together for Lucky. He rarely played in his first year, shared a lot of carries with BJAX and CGlenn last year. It's his third year but his first as the true starter. He's a little bit older. I think he is gaining confidence in his running and is finding his place on the team. He is running with a quicker burst and is not getting turf tackled as often. Plus, the better the passing game, the bigger the running lanes become. He has done a pretty good job all season.
  17. A portion of this board is going to explode if some people dont get their Pelini as the coach. Rants and tirades and so on. Sure hope it doesnt come down to that. Whoever Dr. Tom picks, I'm okay with.
  18. I like it. Liked them all so far.
