  1. "Can the coach make a team better?" Yes. You can have all the best athletes in the world, but in my experience, it takes a coach to manage that team to bring out the best in the player, in the team. A great coach does not have to be a "my way or highway" type. A great coach is a motivator out of respect and appreciation. Not a "rah - rah" guy. But respect & understanding. Gets on your azz when needed, and can discuss it with you at the same time so you understand. And he has to have confidence. As a player, you want to feed off of that. And as a group (players and coach) it's all about the team to get to the ultimate goal. Win the ballgame at hand. Personally, I would run through walls playing for coaches like Bob Stoops, Bill Belichek, Jeff Fisher, Tony Dungy, Dr. Tom Osborne. They all have what I consider to be great.
  2. Brotha dawg - I am right there with you on this. I enjoyed reading this. Count me in as TRUE Husker fan as well. BTW - I'm not an armchair QB, or someone with a little or random knowledge. I've played sports my entire life & still am. And I'm damn good <inserting my horn toot here>. I know what it takes. I considered my ability, experience and knowledge of the game to make me an expert, as according to the definition. Dont let anyone bring your opinions down. Just because neither of us is the head coach of this team today, we are rational fans, and are very much within our rights to critique (and criticise accordingly) this team and coaching staff. Again - amen brotha! Good stuff! GBR!!!
  3. Five meeellion, bazillion, katrillion... CONGRATS BROTHA!!!
  4. I smell a big azz victory this Saturday. Buckle up your chinstraps... Huskers are gonna roll.
  5. No way... This cant warrant a suspension. There has to be more to it. Lineman go at it all the time. Can someone post a link to the report? Thanks
  6. I would never want Pellini here. He has no head coach experience. That kind of stuff can happen at Iowa State, not here. And you see what happens when you hire a guy with just two years of HC experience (after getting fired in the NFL).
  7. Nice call on Wake. It's good to see FSU lose. I'm picking North over South Carolina (#7) and Kentucky over LSU.
  8. Here's something special just for our TuffTiger friend... Hope he likes it. Click here for pikle luv
  9. To use the term "over hyped" - I really do not think that is Lucky's fault. He never came to Lincoln pumping his 5-star chest. I think he is doing fine. He could do a better job taking a half step quicker getting to the outside or hitting the hole. He is fast, but there is no burst. Overall, he's doing fine in my opinion. I think Castille should be used more, about 10 - 14 carries each game running between the tackles. It would benefit the team since they run different, making it difficult on defenses. And as the line needs to improve as well. A lot.
  10. Thanks for the link. I agree with JP 100% when he said "You have to dominate the line of scrimage on both sides of the ball and be a physical defense." And that this team is not a physical team & not holding each other accountable. If you cant do it, find someone who can. And college football needs a motivator, it's not the NFL, play for the name on the front of the jersey and not on the back. And that's all there really is to it. Good stuff.
  11. 4 quarters... & goal line... not bad!
  12. All honesty, I think it's a trust issue by the coach. I'm not so sure the coach wants a frosh out there in case he might make a mistake. Which sucks b/c I dont subscribe to that type of thinking. But I havent seen anything to prove me wrong. It's a total control situation, about robot timing, and not about athleticism. As for putting them on special teams, that's just ridiculous. That's not what they were recruited for. So the "game speed" speech is a copout. Control.. play like a robot.. no mistake..
  13. Thanks for enjoying the board and posting away. Can only hope for a good fair game. The better team will win. Good luck! GBR!
  14. Damn.. I totally missed this! Happy BELATED Birthday brotha dawg!!! Sounds like you celebrated pretty good!!! jagrbmbs - right on!!! And Happy BELATED Birthday to you too maryland husker!! Hope it was a good one!
  15. I dont think there is such a thing as burning a redshirt. They came here to play. The talent level isnt OU, Florida or USC. Dont save them, play them. Get Paul into the rotation. Remove Hardy and give him half of Nunn's plays. I'd like to see what he can do given the opportunity. I recall Purify & Swift made the best of their first few chances on the field. The only thing good about a RS is for injury.
  16. Your question seemed to get derailed.. a bit. My answer would be, without hesitation or doubt, "Yes. I want the Huskers to win the North." OU is definately tough, but even the South winner is not a given. Texas has two losses and OU is one loss away from matching that. I always want the Huskers to be the best, play against the best, and beat the best. If the Huskers win the North, instead of thinking of possible blow-out loss in the CCG, I would think they have a good chance to win. Because something would mean that between today and the final game, the coaches and the team somehow "get it" and did something very good to win it. Regardless of how I feel about the coaches, my answer will always be Yes.
  17. On the hot seat - Mike Gundy? But HE'S A MAN!!! HE'S FORTY!!!
  18. Head out to your local sports bars. They will prolly have it. I cant wait to see this game.
  19. From listening to the ISU game, Bowman didnt play well in that game either. Even though he was against Blythe, they (radio guys) constantly pointed out his positioning, reaction, and looking lost. I have no problems with him second on the chart, just putting out some feelers incase someone knew something...
  20. Q. How can the defense stop OK State? A. Defend them. Go back to the 3-4. Use two arms to tackle instead of one. Fill in the gaps & lanes instead of read and react (this group is too slow for that). D-line needs to get leverage and win the line of scrimage battle. If they cant sack the QB, get a hand up and knock the ball down. Corners need to be on top of the recievers, not 8-10 yards off the ball. Safeties need to fly to the ball, whether it's a pass or run. Man up, have some guts, make a play, make a tackle. Swarm the ball. Attack. And do it every down. It's not brain surgery. Its defense.
  21. I was curious why no one had brought this up yet. Starting CBs - Murillo & Grix with Bowman second on the chart behind Grix.
