  1. It wasn't a question of not putting it up, they were putting alot of pressure on the perimeter and not double teaming Maric, therefore we were going inside.. we lost because we shot 34% from the field and couldn't make the freethrows when we needed them.
  2. Plus ESPN has to be kind of mad that one of their anointed teams that they coddled all season in Notre Dame made them look like fools by the end of the year. I wouldn't be surprised if they are viewed by ESPN as on the decline and kinda given the cold shoulder by alot of the broadcasts next year... though not on Mike and Mike. Golic won't turn on the Irish.
  3. He says Keller will thrive but that we will lose all three big games, granted he says we win the rest but we need one of those three. 5. Sam Keller will thrive at Nebraska: Keller, another Arizona State transfer, will put up eye-popping numbers as the Cornhuskers' quarterback. Nebraska will lose twice in the regular season -- against Southern Cal on Sept. 15 and at Texas on Oct. 27 -- and will lose to the Longhorns again in the Big 12 title game. and just becuase its hilarious... 19. Dan Hawkins will lose his mind: After a disastrous 2-10 record in his first season at Colorado, Hawkins will go off the deep end after the Buffaloes lose to Arizona State and Florida State in September. He'll retire to coach intramural football. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/stor...&id=2776460
  4. He won't be with the Royals for long. They only keep stars till their rookie contract expires and than don't resign them once they have value. (ie. Johnny Damon, Michael Tucker, Jermaine Dye, Carlos Beltran etc.. etc.)
  5. Hmm, may end up just Prince if the rumors on KSUCKS Board is true. http://www.ksufans.com/forums/index.php?topic=8042.0
  6. There's a rumor going around KSUFans.com that Prince is no longer coddling Freeman and Josh is looking to transfer. This may be a trap thread but it also may be true. http://www.ksufans.com/forums/index.php?topic=8042.0 IMO it wouldn't surprise me if it is true, Prince isn't the nicest coach according to those who he's gone after in the past and Freeman doesn't seem to have the grapefruits to handle confrontation without tucking tail and running... though it wouldn't suprise me if its fake either knowing the fanbase we're dealing with here.
  7. The guy I don't see as living up to the hype is Asante. He's going to be a fine player and do well but from what I have seen people expect him to come in and play like Roy Williams or something. He's not going to do that in his first year.
  8. Adi Kunalic whom we recruited this year out of Ft. Worth. - is reported to have kicked 60+ yard fg's in Highschool.
  9. Awkward lineup? Norvell didn't seem to have a problem with that style in Oakland.. pretty sure any offensive minded head coach is going to do the exact same thing... just like a defensive minded head coach relegates the D-Coordinator to glorified teacher, scout and gameplanner. Its no secret we run a pro style system here it makes sense we use a pro style management style as well. Either this guy is a total moron or he doesn't understand anything about football at all.
  10. Anyone notice this guy still hasn't signed his LOI with the Canes? Whats the latest here?
  11. Alex please don't give them that nickname... remember the last two guys that had that nickname and what they ended up doing....
  12. Yeah, Barfield probably will play DT. I'm not sure why I put him down there as I meant to put Clay Sievers in there.
  13. If Dillard is healthy he will play Mike, and than we have a bit of a battle between McKeon, Ruud and Octavian for the Sam and Will spots and I see it something like this to start the year. SLB: McKeon, Ruud, Barfield MLB: Dillard, Brandenburg WLB: Octavian, Ruud, Covey
  14. If you go to the Big Red Report main page on Scout it has Ross listed as one of our top five commits along with Burkes, Mendoza, Paul and Stafford.. any info?
  15. I'm confused now. Foxsports says that Lewis signed his LOI with us and that the only "bigfish" that got away from us is Cornell
  16. Carriker could go as high as 4 to the Bucs as much as they seem to love him, however thats not likely at all so unless they move down (also highly unlikely) they may miss out on him unless they move up from 35. Right now it looks like he could end up in St. Louis with the 12th pick, however they also need run support so they may look more towards LB in the first round. Green Bay is an option but they will most likely be going offense in the first round again which brings us to a very real possibility and a very intriguing situation where he could end up in Tennessee playing opposite former Husker, Kyle Vanden Bosch. If Tennesee passes on him I wouldn't be shocked if Tampa Bay tries to trade up to 20 to grab him before the Broncos or Jets are on the clock as those are the last two likely teams looking for defensive linemen in the first round. Bradley looks to be a potential 4th or 5th round pick, most likely either by Cleveland or Minnesota. - Minnesota especially seems really high on him. Jay Moore was getting some attention from the Jets but its unlikely they will use their 25th overall pick on him so he most likely try to grab him at 38, however they also need a HB and may take that there and hope Jay falls down to the end of the 2nd where they can grab him with pick 57 which probably is unlikely as he could be a great grab for Detroit at 34, Cleveland at 36, St. Louis (if they don't draft Carriker) at 45 or Pittsburgh at 48 (if he shows good speed during the combine) Jackson's name has been mentioned anywhere from being the 3rd best back in the draft and a late first round pick to the 8th best back in the draft going in the late 4th early 5th and pretty much everywhere in between with half the league mentioned as a possibility for him... until he works out for scouts its a tossup as to where he could end up. If I had to make an educated guess right now I'd say Carriker at 19 to Tennessee, Moore at 34 to Detroit, Jackson at 61 to Baltimore and Bradley at 135 to Minnesota.
  17. The Missouri fans I know say its between us and Tech, they believe they are out of the running as he didn't feel "comfortable" there.. not sure whats going on at this point.
  18. This is the official press release from the Senior Bowl website: Jan 27, 2007 - Not even the chilly rain that fell steadily over Ladd-Peebles Stadium on Saturday in Mobile, Alabama could cool off the North All-Stars in the 2007 Senior Bowl. Led by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ coaching staff, the North took the field with a palpable energy and then quickly took control of the game en route to a 27-0 blanking of the South All-Stars. The North wasted little time making a statement in the 58th annual Senior Bowl, going on a nine-play, 75-yard drive touchdown march on the game’s opening possession. By the time the first half was finished, the North was up 20-0 and was showing even less signs of letting up than the coastal Alabama downpour. After the half the contest turned sloppy, mainly due to the wet weather conditions, which led to 12 total fumbles and a stunted passing game from both sides. Still, the North managed to increase its lead in the second half, ultimately claiming a lopsided victory over a South team led by the San Francisco 49ers’ staff. The shutout was the result of an impressive performance by the North on both sides of the ball, as they out-gained the South in total yards, 264-93. Penn State running back Tony Hunt was named the game’s most valuable player, rushing eight times for 39 yards and one touchdown. The North offensive MVP went to Michigan State quarterback Drew Stanton and the defensive MVP was awarded to Michigan cornerback Leon Hall. South players recognized were Auburn offensive lineman Ben Grubbs (South offensive MVP) and Ole Miss linebacker Patrick Willis (South defensive MVP). Led by Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith, the Heisman Trophy winner who started the game, the North offense took to the air early, passing on five of the game’s first seven plays. After missing on his first two attempts, Smith connected on a nice out pattern by East Carolina wide receiver Aundrae Allison for 15 yards and a first down. That drive-extending play seemed to settle Smith and the North down. Head Coach Jon Gruden then dialed up some early-game trickery, opting for a reverse to Washington State wide receiver Jason Hill, who ran down the field for a 34-yard gain. Later in the drive, Rutgers running back Brian Leonard converted a fourth-and-one, plunging into the middle of the line for five yards. On the very next play, Hunt ran off right tackle for six yards and a touchdown. The South would find no answer to Hunt’s score for the remaining 56 minutes, thanks greatly to an aggressive and speedy North defense that relentlessly pressured South quarterbacks. In total, the North tallied eight sacks, led by three from Pittsburgh linebacker H.B. Blades. The South did not record a sack. The North defense set the tone early, allowing only four first downs in the first half while limiting the South to 61 of their eventual 93 yards. For the game, the North defense surrendered a total of six first downs. Michigan linebacker David Harris was seemingly everywhere, and 19-year-old defensive tackle phenom Amobi Okoye looked impressive. The ultra-quick Louisville defensive tackle showed excellent burst as he exploded through the South’s offensive line for a sack of Florida quarterback Chris Leak on the South’s first offensive possession. In his first two series, Smith completed four of 13 passes for 45 yards, and his best play may have come when he managed to buy time with his feet on a fourth-and-seven from the South’s 37-yard line. Avoiding the oncoming pressure, Smith bounced forward, then back and to his left before finding Leonard on the sideline. The Rutgers back hauled in the pass and rumbled for 13 yards and a first down. The North would ultimately settle for a Mason Crosby field goal on the drive. Down 10-0, the South could never get things going thanks to stellar play by several North defenders. Michigan cornerback Leon Hall looked sharp, and made a good open-field tackle of Auburn running back Kenny Irons to force a punt. And Nebraska defensive end Jay Moore had a devastating hit on Leak from the quarterback’s blindside to force a fumble that Maryland defensive back Josh Wilson recovered for the North. The North continued to fire on all cylinders, taking advantage of the Leak turnover, this time led by Michigan State passer Drew Stanton. Going three-for-three on the ensuing possession, Stanton capped off the drive by throwing a perfect seven-yard fade to Allison in the corner of the end zone for the North’s second touchdown of the game. Pittsburgh quarterback Tyler Palko also found success upon entering the game, making several nice plays to keep a North drive alive before the half. On a third-and-six, Palko completed a nice out to Notre Dame wide receiver Rhema McKnight for 13 yards and a first down. Two plays later, Palko again faced a third down, this time needing eight yards to move the chains. Seeing the middle of the field unmanned, the Pitt passer used his feet to make something happen, scrambling 16 yards down to the 15-yard line. Later in the drive, Palko would proceed to do his best impression of Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre, shoveling the football backhanded and on the run to Kansas State running back Thomas Clayton, who caught the impromptu pass and ran to the four-yard line. The drive would eventually stall there, forcing another Crosby field goal. The North would go on to score once more in the game when Smith re-entered the game and threw a seven-yard touchdown to Hill midway through the third quarter. The South never got any closer to paydirt. All in all, it was an impressive performance by an obviously inspired group of young NFL hopefuls. During the all-important week of practice leading up to the Senior Bowl, many of the North’s players remarked on how much they were learning from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coaches. Saturday it showed, as they made good on Gruden’s final words to them before the game: “Make plays and win the game.” ---- A brief mention of Jay Moore but he wasn't awarded even the North Defensive MVP, and apparently according to them "the North tallied eight sacks, led by three from Pittsburgh linebacker H.B. Blades." - I watched the game.. I don't remember Blades recording a sack at all? And I'm not even going to go into the ESPN writeup on the game as its nothing more than a Troy Smith lovefest with little mention made of anyone else even being at the game.
  19. Couldn't ask for more out of the Huskers today. Moore was a freaking beast and should have won the MVP outright for his 3 sack, 2 FF performance. Carriker was all over the place and was pressuring the QB every series he was in and Bradley was head hunting out there... Amazing job and I could see Moore and Bradley being early 2nd rounders and Carriker is now a legit top 10 pick. I'm not sure if they credit Bradley for that FF or not as the ball was out before the contact but if they did each Husker forced a fumble in that game, not bad against a supposedly better south squad.
  20. I think Carricker ends up in St. Louis and don't be surprised if Bradley ends up in Tampa next to Ruud.... if they keep drafting Huskers I may end up a buc's fan soon.
  21. Something tells me Ty Steinkuhler and Joseph Townsend are going to be playing DE by the end of spring. That leaves Dixon, Roark, Barfield and Suh to compete for DT. I'd assume Suh will earn the start on one side and the other will be decided during the spring. Also don't forget about Crick and Yancy, they may redshirt but they will get a shot to compete here as well. If I had to set a 2 deep right now I'd probably go DE: Potter/Townsend DT: Barfield/Dixon DT: Suh/Roark DE: Turner/Ty
  22. Whats up with the rumors that he won't qualify? Is there some concern or are they off base?
  23. From what I see at a couple of the Miami Boards they think he is just angling for a visit during Superbowl Weekend and isn't really intent on signing with them. I'm not sure about that but its a possibility.
  24. Blitzes were allowed? It was only a four man rush but the OT's couldn't stop the DE's from coming off the corner to save their lives.
