  1. Ticket magnet.....when in Lincoln, do as the Huskers do. Seriously, you should be OK if there isn't any extra attention drawn to you; but it only takes one over-bearing officer itching to write a summons.
  2. Huskers 48 Pay Day 17 Rush 330 Pass 270 As they say at the corner pool hall, "rack them up".
  3. How many of us carry uninsured motorist protection on our auto policies even though most states mandate insurance in order to obtain plates for your cars? A person obtains a policy prior to applying for their tags and then can lapse the policy. The same problem is going to happen with Obamacare. A person obtains a policy so they can certify coverage on their tax return to avoid the penalty for not having health insurance. Then they lapse the coverage and show up in the clinic and/or hospital for treatment only to have the reimbursement denied after the bills are submitted for payment. This is one of the reasons the IRS is in the process of hiring thousands of new employees to 'enforce' this new law.
  4. A friend in the area said the Fox and Hound has Husker fans on game days. I tried to double source this location but there isn't an official alumni chapter in Houston so I couldn't find a website link. Anyway, this is what I found and may be worth a call-ahead: Fox And Hound 11470 Westheimer Road Houston, TX 77077 Phone: (281)589-2122
  5. Or, how many boosters did the writer, Olson, contact and actually speak with before he found one that provided a few observations that fit the agenda?
  6. We now get a one year reprieve on the mandatory lower out-of-pocket maximums until 2015. So, another delay that postpones one of the drivers of the increases in premiums that are starting to get reported state by state.
  7. I'm in a similar boat....I'm going to be at Lake of the Ozarks (Four Seasons area near Bagnell Dam). I'm guessing finding a sports bar with the BTN is going to be tough. Hello laptop connected to a big screen...
  8. He also made a special teams play with a solo tackle on a return.
  9. Careful...if the NSA ever makes your real name public, you will never work in North Platte.
  10. Ooops....good catch. I'm golfing tomorrow with clients so today is my Friday.
  11. Well, the Big Red stepped up again and are setting a College Night record at the K tomorrow night. It is Husker Night vs the Red Sox and Nebraska fans have purchased the entire 5100 seat allotment. Darin Erstad is throwing out the first pitch and then will be in the broadcast booth to do some color. My wife is all over me for not jumping on the seats when they were available. 12. If you are a member of the Alumni Association, they had some available as of last Friday according to a broadcast fax. Wyoming and SoDak St tix were available too and they weren't marking them up this year for the equivalent donation - face value.
  13. Actually a proposed domed stadium near Linoma was pretty far along and Conagra was going to donate a majority of the costs, in exchange for the naming rights and some other control of the venue. But Tom Osborne took it off the table when Conagra insisted it be called 'The Condome'.
  14. The first thought is how do you make this venture profitable? I'd like to read that grad students paper some time. There was an AMTRAK 'special' that ran from Washington, DC's Union Station to Camden Yards when there wasn't MLB inside the Beltway. I took my family on it to catch a game in Baltimore and it was a fun way to get up to the park. But, AMTRAK had 81 dates to help amortize the costs over a season, not 7 or 8 in a short football season.
  15. Well, the nearest official watch site is Downtown in the River Market area (north side of Interstate 70). It's good sized (2 floors if I remember right) and I had fun the one time I was there... Minsky's City Market 427 Main Street (Missouri) Phone: 913-339-6999 Web: minskys.com
  16. One of Asche's team mates at Lehigh Valley earlier this year, Jake Diekman, was called up earlier and has done a pretty good job in relief. Jake is a Wymore native and at looking at his line, it seems he has overcome his control issues. I hope Cody can deliver too when he gets the call.
  17. Unfortunately, IMO, if you start hitting the bottom line that hard - and hurt the merchants/alumni in the pocket books - there may be even more widespread cover ups top to bottom. I think, for the most part, compliance departments do an adequate job of training, investigations, and self reporting. Obviously, there are exceptions but it beats the wild west days like we saw in the 70's and 80's.
  18. Well, another Union has gone public that does not want to be covered by the ACA. If these Unions get their way, that is less 'joe lunch buckets' like me that are going to be covered and may have an adverse impact on my rates. I'm getting concerned, especially because this is the Union that represents the 100,000 IRS employees that are responsible for a lot of the implementation of the plan. http://washingtonexaminer.com/irs-employee-union-we-dont-want-obamacare/article/2533520
  19. He's sure having a hard time dealing with these nasty distractions while running a campaign.
  20. I've been there many times on both business and pleasure. It is expensive compared to vacation spots in the midwest. I just took my elderly father back Memorial Day so he could see Arlington National, the Memorials, US Capitol Tour, and the Smithsonian. Those venues are all free but the extras, food and lodging are higher than average and my Dad would have been intimidated with the pace and public transportation system. You've got to do DC sometime in your lifetime though. I'd throw in a road trip south to Oklahoma City, DFW, Austin, and end up in San Antonio. So many things to see up and down the I-35 corridor and inexpensive.
  21. Too bad ABC isn't doing the broadcast...they could send their cameraman that focus' on BO and the sideline to catch every expression/move between Stevie Williams and Tiger in their next to last group tomorrow.
  22. The NE Kansas watch site is at Hooter's in Topeka. That still isn't enough for me to want to go to there (the girls are awesome). They give us a 10% discount and there are drawings for free stuff at halftime. I just can't hear the broadcast and that is important to me so one game, in a last ditch effort, I wore earbuds and listened to the live broadcast but the timing on the plays was bad. I just watch at home if I'm not road tripping to Lincoln.
  23. Especially proud to be a Husker tonight....congrats Jack! You made an entire state proud.
  24. I used 'tax revenues' because the Supremes changed the terminology from 'penalties'. So, there is no offsetting revenue in year one to reduce the costs of the implementation/program as part of the promises made when the legislation was introduced and argued. On a positive note, the one year delay may result in employers ceasing to reduce employee hours to less than 30 so they aren't on the hook for offering/providing health care for another year. Thus, it may help some with the underemployment problem dragging the economy.
  25. How are the $10 billion in projected taxes for 2014 that were expected from non-conforming employers going to be recovered? This was part of the scoring of the 'savings' by the government.
