  1. and yet that is the crux of the sec being the best conference.
  2. that the same georgia team that was just flat out ran over by a bad florida team? (just trying to use my critical thinking skills) and if nebraska was to win out, they'd have a victory over wisconsin (not sure if you'll consider them the same) and most likely a top 5 win against tOSU or MSU. and if it's tOSU then their loss would be to a team that will most likely still be in the top 15. but i digress, critical thinking is just too hard. i'll just follow the sheep and listen to whatever espn says.
  3. Hes probably thinking that it couldn't hurt. it sounds like a penn st recruiting tactic.
  4. having to national champion doesnt make the rest of the conference better. it means they had the best team in the nation that year. bowl games dont tell the whole story either as you have sec 2 v pac12 4 in one bowl game then sec 3 v b1g 6 in another. (hypothetical, but illustrating a point) in all conferences the 2 and 3 teams are supposed to be better than the 4th and 6th best teams. often times these games take place in the backyard of the sec. but the real issue being highlighted is why a lower sec team beats a higher ranked sec team, why isnt it said that the higher ranked team was over-rated. why is it the lower team automatically becomes better than they were originally perceived? take missouri, they fell out of the rankings after losing to indiana only to jump back in after beating a south carolina team that is showing to be worse than they were given credit for. indiana didnt jump into the polls after beating missouri either. yes, i also know of the other failings to knock off sec teams in non-con games. and yes i know those losses say the sec is superior but when looking at those games do they truly say the sec is superior or just better on that saturday?
  5. I'm more confused by the 2011 sign up date but only a 150 posts...most of them in the last week... how about a 2009 sign up with only 95 posts (OP) or a 2006 signup with under 400
  6. he a package deal with dean witter?
  7. san diego st iirc, they had a nice little brawl with them too. Yes, in 1990, they started it though. We also had one with South Carolina in 1987. We got around back then. oops, i just meant that was who miami was playing when "the rock" went chasing after the mascot. didnt mean to accentuate the brawl just that it was part of it.
  8. san diego st iirc, they had a nice little brawl with them too.
  9. John Garrison is OL coach We havent had consistent offensive line play since 2001. Fact. Did I disagree with that? he expanded the time frame to before barney round 1.
  10. That's fair, but (kind of agreeing with true's point) I think there's only a certain amount of stock to put into numbers, and even less so with only two games worth of data. For example, we're still averaging like 350 rushing yards per game through two games, not because we're a juggernaut running team but because of a statistical outlier and not enough numbers to make an accurate average. I'd be interested to know how Beck and Tommy both fit into this equation. It's no secret Tommy loves the deep ball - tv broadcasts aren't conducive for seeing the entire field but I wonder if we've got Cotton and Carter running free more often than we see and Tommy isn't seeing them. Not to give you too much credit LOMS, but good point. That is an aspect of it, Tommy not seeing it. We may be doing a lot more things than Average Joe fan (myself included) is just not seeing. Not just limited to the TE either. I was literally thinking this exact thing about the television view, today while driving. As a fan we do speculate with very little knowledge of what the actual intentions are. Even recently I've struggled with this because I hate to blame players for ugly games like this last weekend, although they are obviously part of the problem. It's just hard to tell how big of a part. What is it we are missing. What are we trying to do that we are not getting done? One thing is for sure. I'd much rather be the guy that asks questions or tries to figure it out, rather than simply blame and point fingers. Although I do a bit of both. another question to ask is, how much did they have to keep the TE in on passing plays to help block because the offensive line never made it to the stadium.
  11. We'll get bowl eligible. The minute we start setting that as a goal is the minute this program, as we all remember it, is completely gone. They didn't look like conference champions Saturday, no doubt, but who in the B1G did? Nobody in our division is playing well and the top teams in the other division lost. I get it was a bad game that exposed an awful lot of what you addressed in your post, but lowering our standards this far, this early in the season, means Nebraska is just an ordinary program. As fans we can't live in that realm. that's always been a goal. even when TO was coach. it just isnt THE goal.
  12. I know you're all referring to our coaches as the systemic issue, and here's what I'd say to that: Are our coaches perfect? No. No coach in the nation is perfect. And if you guys think that if we had Nick Saban everything would be all hunky dory, don't be so naive. Saban coached for years before he was able to reach the level of success that even Bo has sustained in his first 6 years. I agree that player entitlement is a systemic issue, but I'd consider the systemic issue to be much more broad than our program, coaches, etc. It's more about society in general. I have dozens of teenagers walk through my door every day, and finding one that doesn't have a completely overbearing sense of entitlement toward absolutely everything is a rare find. I've got a few, and they are leaders in my classroom, as well as the extra-curriculars that I sponsor. IMO, Bo and his staff have done an exceptional job of not only sustaining a high level of success, but also making sure that the young men that walk into Memorial Stadium are better people when they leave than when they came. Without that, all of this is meaningless. In year 8 of his head coaching career, and in year three as coach at LSU, Saban had a national title. So, what you said is kinda ridiculous. year 10, and year 4. and what he said isnt ridiculous at all. before taking the MSU job he was an NFL DC. and before taking his first cfb head coaching job he spent 14 or 15 years as a college assistant. (i dont feel like figuring out the actual number.) his first three years at MSU werent spectacular and he wasnt dealing with the same recruiting disadvantages with the biggest being saban had more recruiting connections. he had relationships with high school coaches in MSU's footprint. then the move to LSU just put him closer to supposed superior talent. but hey, college football is big business and it has fueled the rapid advancement of coaches, that may or may not be ready to take coordinator positions, to head coaches from teams just looking for the home run.
  13. Wuuuuuuuu baby. but now i wonder if 3G brings in dazon ingram. and combo guards are great to have. the more ball handlers the better.
  14. heard he is a California University lean.
  15. The ball being tipped definitely adds to the degree of difficulty. Then, to catch it behind your back after being tipped makes it one of the greatest. then he gets both feet down in bounds. that part impressed me.
  16. then there was a time where ameer ran for 9 yds then beck went with 2 straight passes. first one went for 40+, second one went for a touchdown. when bitching about beck's play calls what is often overlooked is how the play was executed. oftentimes the defense is caught so off guard that all the receiver has to do is catch the ball and it is a big play. but because that one little detail doesnt happen it makes beck look like an idiot, even though the play called was a perfect call.
  17. was there a flag thrown on this play? or is it just nebraska receivers that get flagged for hitting that hard?
  18. Yeah, great defenses never have swagger before the season. What are these kids thinking?!?!?!?! They'd better get their heads straight and start thinking they suck real soon, or it's gonna be a long season! my only point is you earn swagger, as fans we ought to know that by now.......we have already lost some guys on D, this D has very little proven depth, wake up people, this is not going to be easy. i lol'd. it's a friggin air of self-confidence. you dont get that from just saturdays. it comes from knowing your abilities, knowing what you are supposed to do and trusting your teammates do as well. now will it help them play better or be a detriment? that we dont know and wont know until they start playing. right now it cant hurt that they have it.
  19. to play for st cecilia or adams central?
  20. This GPS deal seems like it could bear some fruit and provide all kinds of useful information that could help them customize practices and activities for specific players. What would really be cool is if they adopt the already tested practice procedures NU used back in the day. The juggernaut that Nebraska football used to be was a direct result of the way they practiced and involved everyone. It sort of blows my mind that we have not tried to emulate that more considering the success we had with it. note all the rules changes since then wonder why.
  21. You never know, as Wichita losses 2 starters and their leading scorer. They will still have Ron Baker so they will be fine Just saying they will be a different team, as will we. they'll most likely be better. fred van vleet is one of the best pgs in the nation. he is the one that makes the offense go. their biggest question mark going into the season is who is going to play the 5. but they have a couple options there, just depends on how guys develop between now and the beginning of the season. with a potential matchup petteway should go ahead and become friends with tekele cotton on every social media outlet that he can because that will be his best friend should wsu and nebraska play.
