  1. Not sure it can. We're looking at losing the rest of the games if BC stays. How is it going to get worse?
  2. WOW how things have changed. I remember when TO was ridiculed as the Choke Coach! But that was back before the internet wasn't it. Personally, I couldn't be happier. I don't know how great he will be but, I can't think of a better person to bring the Huskers back on course. I just know that the true heart of Husker football is that it is Nerbaska born and/or bred. It had been anyway for over 30 years of unparalleled atheltic dominance until Pud brought in BC. Somehow that was always just not right. The cosmos tilted a little and the Huskers have been off balance ever since. If they do bring in Rimington as associate, and give the program some Husker bred stability, longevity and focus, I think at least that part of the cosmos will be realigning shortly! Hopefully, that will allow the players to live up to the true meaning of "I play for Nebraska" which is that you go flat out in the weight room, and at every practice so that you earn the opportunity to personally go out on Saturday, in front of Husker Nation, and properly represent this years edition by simply and succinctly kicking the snot out of whoever dares to line up against you. Yep, that's Husker football in my book. Man, oh man, I can't wait to see it again!
  3. When? That's the point. Why wait?
  4. When? That's the point. Why wait?
  5. Hmmmmmm, Regent is an elected position correct? Maybe Mr. Ferlic sees the axe coming his way in the next election. I wonder if he will call it a knee jerk reaction then?
  6. I just can't understand how it makes sense to let BC stay either through the Texas game or the end of the season, especially if they are firing assistant coaches. To me, that says that someone thinks BC isn't the probelm. Does the University think he is NOT the problem, that it is all KC? I now harvey says he doesn't make coching decisions, but come on folks, how is firing the AD going to affect things that need changing right now. If in fact BC really is the probelm, then keeping him around until Texas just means that's two more losses. Replacing him then would give you same the disruption you're going to have if you change him now anyway. If you wait until the end of the season, you throw away the whole season, a season where there are a lot of talented seniors who deserve a better shot at their future then they are going to get playing for BC. To keep him to the end of the season runs the very real risk of not winning any more games and not going to a bowl game. Plus, lost television revenue. Maybe there is no cure. Maybe the season can't be salvaged in terms of Big 12 and such. But why can't we fight for a bowl game. Tha'ts two more wins, right. How does keeping BC im around improve the chances of turning it around. If he's not going to come back next year, what's the purpose of keeping on the rest of this year? Like the players would be more liekly to play for him if they know he's leaving? To me, it's better to rip the dressing off the wound fast, once and for all, than to prolong the torment.
  7. I sure hope you are right. If true, think the leaks will begin immediately and we'll soon know if your reputation is tarnished or not. But, why wait two weeks for BC to quit? Will it take that long to get Pelini? Is he in a mood to leave LSU just now? Will they give permission to talk to him just now?
  8. I don't think BC would coach for TO. There is alot of anomosity on BC's part towards Tom. I think if they even name Tom interim, Bill would resign. Tom spoke to this years players and he commented that he didn't think they would ask him back. Maybe that's the plan. Get rid of AD, name TO as interim, thus forcing BC's resignation. They probably don't have to buy out the contract if he resigns. I'd like to see the quote where Tom O said he didn't think they would ask him back. I'd also love to see a transcript of what he said to the players........
  9. It might be time to face the reality! His style of coaching is what had always worried me about him. He's brought an NFL coaching mentality to the college game and it's obviously not working, much like the college coaching mentality doesn't work in the NFL. Great recruiting is meaningless if you can't motivate or excite your players. The players just aren't buying what Callahan and Cosgrove are selling. Might be?
  10. I always like the MU game mostly because I am always reminded of the time, decades ago, back before video cameras probably, when the students ran the card section in the middle of the east stadium, someone went to a whole lot of clandestine work and when the cards were flipped, the message read: SCREW MIZZOU Maybe it's just me but I always thought that was funny.
  11. Not to burst any bubbles but wasn't there something about an email that BC sent around before the USC game. I think this is kind of a standard thing nowadays that the NCAA wants schools to do. I personally doubt that it does any good but bureaucrats like NCAA think politically correct messages about calm celebration will actually keep any such celebrations calm. Also, if I am wrong, I hope somone can supply the actual language but I would assume that if the email actually said "dont rush the field" it would have been quoted and attributed to Pinkel. Somehow I doubt that head coach actually said that and this wouldn't be the first time a student newspaper, or any newspaper for that matter, stated as fact that which is really only wishful thinking on the part of the author, i.e. that Mizzery will have a reason to rush the field. With all that said, I go into Saturday night with my heart full of excited anticipation that the BC era will turn the corner and worry that it won't, much the same as I've come to watch EVERY game since the 90's NC years. Meanwhile, all I can say is Go Big Red!
  12. Is the rule that if you kick from beyond the 20, and you miss, the other team gets the ball where you kicked from? Or is that the Pros?
  13. Fact is there are not now, never have been, and never will be "gimmies" so long as there are 11 folks on the other side of the field. It's a game and that's why it's played, to see who wins. To see who wants it more. To see who makes less mistakes. To see who has a better game plan. To see who gets luckier. To see who executes better. To see who capitalizes better. etc., etc., etc. Those who think that there should be gimmie's, well, I kind of feel sorry for them. What a boring world to be so predictable. Frankly, I've been a HUSKER fan for so many decades that I've gotten immune to the gimme syndrome. I'm always always nervous about what will happen. Frankly, I wouldn't want it any other way.
  14. Well, without seeming to defend the play of the defense this year, what does it matter how many yards are given up if they get the W. What if this years Huskers go on to win the next 10 games by 1 point a piece and give up 500+ yards per game. I'd think we'd all see some really exciting football and overall would be ecstatic. I really do think that the W is what counts. It doesn't have to be pretty or dominating, just a W.
  15. To me this points to a lack of offensive line execution. That's why I've been wondering why everyone is saying the Husker Offense is great this year. We've run up scores against unrated teams or when the game was out of reach playing against second and probably third string defenses. Has anyone counted the number of times the NU offesne hasbeen 3 and Out this year already? Probably a pretty scary stat. The defensive deficiencies are all too obvious as well. I do like the kicking game though. That kid has a LEG! So, I am a Husker fan and now, instead of watching with an expectation that UNL will dominate, I watch EVERY game with that nervous anticipation you get when you really don't know what to expect next. I'll always root for the Huskers. Always. I just have to get used to being this nervous ALL the time.
  16. Is "exaggeratory" even a word? From Answers.com: Ex·ag·ger·a·to·ry a. Containing, or tending to, exaggeration; exaggerative. Johnson. So, in short, yes it is. But if it hadn't been, I believe everyone should have readily seen that I had invented a new word. This is, after all, the langauge of the masses. Don't get me wrong. That's where I was going. It would have been right up there with Strategery!!
  17. Is "exaggeratory" even a word?
  18. Why do we care about what they gave up if they fought off adversity and managed a win? I'd predict that if these Husker were to win the rest of their game by a combined total of 10 points, what you would remember is a season of wild thrills and cardiac comebacks. The more I read this board this year, the more I'm begning to think Gundy was right. Maybe BC ought to do some media/fan bashing to support his kids.
  19. While I'm certainly with you on that one but I am not sure that holding played much of a part in the LBs being totally out of position and getting sucked into fakes, etc.
  20. You insist that the kids on the field need to get a thicker skin if people boo them which you imply is a right you received when you paid your big buck donation. Yet, you react churlishly and you don't display much of a thick skin yourself when resort to ad hominum attacks against those who don't think booing players is appropriate. Sad.
  21. I can only speak for myself but my motivation in going to a game has absolutely nothing to do with keeping a sell out record alive. As far as what he said, I'll elect to give a kid a break. Like others have said, at least he has some emotion about what he's doing. That appears to be sorely lacking in this year's edition of the Huskers.
  22. I'd look at plucking someone from the NFL as well. Uh, BC came from the NFL. What makes you think a DC from the NFL would be any better? Did I miss something? What's wrong with our offense? Had the D not made a Pick 6, NU probably loses to Ball St. The O has put up numbers, certainly, but against the likes Ball St, Nevada, and the second and third strings of USC. The O has flashes of brilliance in the passing game but the running game so far has been disappointing except week one. I dont' think you survive without a strong running game and the last couple of weeks, it has really been weak. The key to West Coast Offense is O-line play and with as much talent and size, the NU O-line ought to be much more dominant.
