  1. I greatly dislike the byes given that the ordering is done by a potentially biased committee. I'd much rather have 8 or 16 and no byes. Even the committee selecting the teams and then the byes being determined randomly would be better IMO.
  2. Well, they messed it up by going to 12 instead of 8.
  3. Minn had a 70 yd pick six. That and Syracuse kicking 2 FGs instead of getting a TD were the difference.
  4. People Are Lying To You About The Trump Indictment National Review Is Lying, For Instance. There Will Be More. Keep An Eye Out. The National Review Is Still Lying To You About The Fraud Charge Against Trump
  5. Bad take. Covid and ill grandmother aren't a kid being wishy-washy, they are things much bigger than which school an athlete attends. NCAA is simply being cruel and stupid denying this kid.
  6. Anyone who thinks the Apple TV deal was anything other than a death knell for the conference is an idiot. The WSU president is putting lipstick on a pig here.
  7. I agree with you in general, but there are a lot of cases were debt makes sense, especially for a government: intra-governmental debt, war debt, large infrastructure, etc.
  8. Keep in mind that much of the debt is held by Social Security, the interest of which is going to the SS beneficiaries. That's not to say the size of the debt is good, but rather that we should be aware of the consequences of eliminating the debt and the rhetoric around that idea. Yeah, I'd be ok with a different approach as well.
  9. I think that's what people think until the next stock market crash if there's no stable investment to move money into. It's not that I think the current debt levels are a good idea, but it's important to understand the unintended consequences of getting rid of the debt. FYI, foreign and international investors hold 23.6% ($7.4 trillion) of the debt. Who Owns the US National Debt?
  10. Cutting SS won't help fix the debt at all - unless we cut SS benefits but keep the SS tax. If we're going to have a tax just to reduce the debt, then we should create one for that purpose. But something else to keep in mind is that the government's debt is other people's investment. Reducing the debt means reducing the number of treasury bonds (and other bonds and securities) available, which are generally considered the most stable and least risky investments in the world.
  11. It's not evil to cook foods in different ways. Slow smoking brisket is amazing but way more effort than in a slow or pressure cooker. Pulled pork really easy in the slow or pressure cooker. But the surprising one for me was how it perfectly cooks whole artichokes: 45 minutes on high pressure then let them cool a bit.
  12. @knapplc @teachercd, if you use a crockpot regularly, I suggest getting an Instant Pot with a slow cooker capability. It's better at maintaining temp, keeping in moisture, way easier to clean, and not as easily broken. Plus you can do other stuff with it.
  13. I think you're in the wrong thread as that's going to be a popular opinion.
  14. While John Kerry was wrong (I'm not sure where he's pulling this number from as I haven't seen that from actual climate scientists), it's not quite the win climate change deniers want it to be: Too late now to save Arctic summer ice, climate scientists find Also, even the ice that we do have in the Artic now is thinner than it used to be: Climate Change: Arctic sea ice summer minimum
  15. Me too! Odell's Drumroll hazy pale ale is really good also. Cottage cheese and yogurt. Any yogurt flavor you like.
  16. Agreed. I don't think giving the government a means to prevent people from voting or running for office is a good idea. Democracy depends on the voters to control who should be in office.
  17. He's been nuts since at least 2015, which is when I became aware of his anti-vax BS. Not sure before that.
  18. It's more likely that Trump makes RFK jr his VP than Biden does. RFK jr is an absolute lunatic.
  19. PV + AC is a really good combination since AC is needed most when it's sunny.
  20. I'm guessing that's going to be in the noise since most of those cars won't be charging up from zero, but I'm sure someone has researched this. Summer should be less concerning since we'll have an overabundance of solar energy - winter holidays might be more of an issue.
  21. Depends on which parts of the grid you're talking about. The places that promote decentralized power closer to the users (e.g. PV panels) need a lot less transmission and transformer infrastructure. There's no new technology that needs to be invented, so it's just a matter of the will to do it. First, as already mentioned by someone else, an EV doesn't need to start charging the moment it's plugged in. For example, I have a Model Y that allows me to set the charging times manually or I can even tell it my power provider and plan and it will figure out the lowest cost time to charge. Second, many (most?) EV's don't need to be charged every day. I only charge once or twice a week.
  22. I think TO margin needs to improve but I don't think it will improve much. I think rushing offense should improve the most even if it goes from bad to below average that would be hopeful for the future.
