  1. It's the Dems job to fix the Republican party by beating them in elections. They could start by running on issues that the people want instead of what their donors want.
  2. I don't understand how this is even good politics. What do the Dems gain by not even considering impeachment? It's not like Trump or the Senate is going to allow them to pass any laws. But there's a lot to lose when the Dems won't even defend the Constitution.
  3. That's not true. Impeachment forces a debate on the merits in the House, and if Trump is impeached, then a trial on the evidence in the Senate. It forces politicians to put a vote on record, which can be a big thing. But regardless, it's the Constitutional duty of the Congress to hold the President accountable. If the Dems play politics and don't even consider impeachment, then the precedence has been set that the President is above the law and can freely obstruct justice.
  4. Maybe. I think Biden would have lost to Trump, but we'll never know. Plus, Biden being President doesn't fix the underlying problems that allowed Trump be elected.
  5. I'd say living through 9/11, the Great Recession, and the Afghanistan and Iraq wars were "bad times" for Millennials.
  6. PSU and Baylor should both have been kicked out of the NCAA.
  7. I agree with you. I was adding that M4A would complement the VA and help with a lot of the issues with things like distance and where care is available.
  8. Medicare-for-All would allow everyone including our veterans to have healthcare almost anywhere. It would also allow the VA to focus on the specific needs of veterans that aren't as common in the general population (like PTSD).
  9. knapplc covered most of my reply, but I'll also add that millennials are the first generation that's expected to have a worse life economically than the generation before them. And that's despite millennials being better educated on average. America’s Millennials Are Waking Up to a Grim Financial Future The millennial disadvantage is real: Most millennials are worse off financially than parents
  10. Charisma matters for sure, but I think you're underestimating Trump's economic messaging. And I think Trump would beat Buttigieg.
  11. I'd love if he's a change candidate, but I'm not seeing it. At least not so far. He's got a lot of vague promises like lower drug prices, combat the opioid epidemic, confront student loan debt, create a commission to study reparations, strengthen antitrust standards, zero college tuition for the middle-class. But how is he going to combat the opioid epidemic or lower drug prices? His clearest policy is adding a public option to the ACA (not M4A).
  12. Thanks for the links, but I'm not sure they support the conclusion that the VA isn't being fixed. The last link is the only one that supports your stance, but even that one is about a program that's being implemented, so no one knows if it'll succeed or fail yet.
  13. Which problems aren't getting fixed? I know quite a few veterans that use the VA (I do not use the VA myself), and they've all said it's gotten much better the last few years. That's obviously just anecdotal, so I'm curious what you think are the issues and what needs to get done about them. I haven't been closely following the changes at the VA.
  14. A VA reform bill got passed last year with bipartisan support. https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/389072-senate-sends-major-va-reform-bill-to-trumps-desk
  15. The biggest difference for me is between 480i analog and 480p digital. I can see the difference between HD and SD, but it only really bothers me if it's the old analog 480i.
  16. I'm genuinely curious if other people can even tell the difference between 1080 and 4k. I can barely see any difference between 720 and 1080 and can't see any difference between 1080 and 4k. I'll be the guy who's still buying DVD's and resisting having to pay more for Bluray for as long as I can.

  18. Paterno covered up stuff at OSU too?!?!!?
  19. The debate isn't the "humanhood" of the fetus - it's clearly human DNA. It's the "personhood" of the fetus. A bald eagle egg clearly isn't a "person". But as Landlord already pointed out, bald eagles aren't protected under the rights given people under the Constitution, but rather under laws protecting endangered species.
  20. The bold is what I think ultimately undoes Biden. He's been bought by corporations for years and his political career is about helping those corporations. JOE BIDEN’S PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN PLEDGED NOT TO TAKE SPECIAL-INTEREST MONEY — BUT NOT HIS PAC
  21. I suppose those people also think Merrick Garland is on the Supreme Court. Maybe Biden can pull the Trump routine and convince gullible Dem voters that it's the 90's again. I think they'll see through that, but I guess we'll see.
  22. We need to stop arguing over when life starts because it's silly. Science doesn't teach that life begins at conception because both the sperm and the egg were living cells before conception. There's no "life begins" in the process. As @Landlord pointed the real discussion should be about when "personhood begins". And even after the point that the fetus is a person, there's still the argument of the rights of the woman vs the rights of the fetus.
