  1. http://espn.go.com/b...-games-nos-10-1 I had no idea UCLA was going to be good this year. I still don't think they are. I really think NU is going to stomp the crap out of UCLA. I have trouble seeing UCLA with a winning record on the year. Next year is another story, but this season they'll still be reeling from that joke of a coach they fired.
  2. Give us some more insight on USM. Who's coming back on O and D? Who looks like your playmakers? What are the perceived strengths and weaknesses? I always think defense when I think of Southern Miss, but I haven't really followed them the last few years.
  3. Rex doesn't break big runs - his longest last year was 52 yards in the non-con and 22 yards in conference play. Martinez is the homerun hitter, or he was his first year.
  4. Someone beat you, man... Sorry... Yeah so suck it! also got berated for the lowbrow! Some HB members need to lighten up! So is B-rated a 3 star?
  5. Agreed, and that's the most frustrating part. We could easily have 2 conference titles and a BCS win or two with the same players, if NU didn't play so damn sloppy. spot on saunders.........how the hell do we fix that? Leadership. Especially from the players.
  6. I don't doubt it and I get what you are thinking. But if we DID win this game, it wouldn't be a "shock the world" "oh my goodness what just happened" upset. We have a very good team this year and I expect us to compete with Nebraska better than you think we will. I'm not saying we will win at all, but as a Southern Miss fan that's certainly what I'm hoping for. USM beating NU is certainly not the biggest upset ever, and won't even be the biggest upset of the season (maybe of the opening weekend?). Heck USM beat NU in Lincoln in 2004, so it's even happened in the last decade. But I think NU is better than any team USM beat last season, and I don't think USM will be as good this season as last. And given the new coaching staff and schemes on both sides of the ball, USM will be learning throughout the season so I think they'll be inconsistent and error-prone early in the year - not good for the first game especially on offense where timing and consistency are key. NU will also be playing their first game which leads me to think that the score stays close until the end when NU's talent in the 2nd and 3rd string wears out USM.
  7. I'll raise you....45-14 NU You guys should be pretty confident coming into this game. But not quite that confident. I think all of you will be surprised at how athletic yet physical we are. We CERTAINLY don't look like a CUSA out there. Anyone of you ever heard of Jamie Collins? While it could be closer, I think 31-14 is about right. NU puts up a couple TD's in the 4th quarter to pull away. NU should have a really good offense this season and an above average defense. USM is playing in Lincoln with a new coaching staff, so I'm not sure you can reasonably expect better than that. Every CUSA/MAC/Sunbelt fan that comes on this board points out that their team is better than we think. But that rarely ends up being the case. Of course, in the era where Michigan lost to App. St., absolutely anything is possible. Hey EagleCrazy4....... I think your team just got compared to App St.!! After getting pasted by UM last season, I'd be happy with NU replicating App. St.

  9. Since the format is kind of messed up, I'll mention that NU is #16.
  10. Ridiculous. I couldn't disagree more. When progress and tradition clash, then we need to consider whether that progress is worth throwing away tradition. I tend to the traditional side since it's easy to institute progress that's already been made, but once tradition is tossed aside, it's difficult and sometimes impossible to restore.
  11. I'm going!! Staying with my brother - so that doesn't help you much. I'm looking forward to meeting up with some Husker fans before and after the game. This year should be a much different outcome.
  12. Well I'll add my 2 cents to this melee. I don't mind having an alternate uniform for a single game each year, but more than that and I'll be up in arms. And the alt uniforms this season SUCK!!!! They just look plain awful. Reminds me of a highschool team - does Omaha Northwest have that same color scheme? Too bad we're wearing them in a prominent nationally televised game. Or maybe that's better because of all the negative feedback we'll receive.
  13. Yep, that's what confused me. Stupid twitter!
  14. You have the parties reversed. Priest tells another kid the coaches' numbers.
  15. One additional complication is that school's are NOT limited by NCAA in how many kids they sign in Feb. (although some conferences have rules about that like the SEC's recent rules). So, depending on P12 rules, USC can sign as many as they want as long as they're at 15 or less on schollie come fall.
  16. Alright, I found the answer from the NCAA: "The reduction in football scholarships will begin with the 2012-13 academic year. USC will be able to offer 15 initial scholarships (instead of the maximum of 25) and 75 total scholarships (instead of the maximum of 85) for each of the next three academic years. This reduction will not impact those student-athletes who have already signed for the 2011-12 academic year." So USC is limited to BOTH 75 total scholarships and 15 per year. So players leaving will not help them get beyond the 15 recruits.
  17. So I still haven't found an exact answer on how many schollies USC has, but I think they are limited to 75 total and 15 per year. They can take 18 in this class because there are 3 guys that can counted towards last year. So it shouldn't matter how many players leave the team, they are still limited in recruits.
  18. What's he thinking? They'll be getting NCAA sanctions soon.
  19. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
  20. And the recruiting "experts" thought he wouldn't make it as a RB and would move to LB. Helu remains IMO one of the most underrated Huskers.
  21. In general, or what did he say?
  22. I read that none of the PSU players will be at media days. So might not be as big a concern.
  23. The point of the pictures was really just to show that if you only look at a frozen snapshot of just the upper body of a quarterback throwing, it's easy for it to look really weird and unnatural, and Taylor isn't alone in this category. I think where most people have issues w/ Taylor's "throwing motion" starts with his feet - everything else gets twisted and turned because of that - and in those pictures you posted you can clearly see that each is stepping into their throw (that one dude is exaggerating it a bit). I think that was what Hunter was even talking about when you decided to tell him he has no idea what he's talking about. The pics you provided support his argument in regards to Taylor's feet. Good QBs step into their throws. Taylor didn't do that last year for whatever reason. I watched a good chunk of the Oklahoma State game the other day and his footwork was very different - though from time to time you could see him getting lazy and throwing off his back foot. I didn't see any pics showing TM's feet.
  24. Turner better try earning some snaps over Marlowe.
