  1. My sophomore year of high school we lost a football game 2-0.... If that ever happens again...
  2. Henery didn't play that good against Tech. Had one punt completely shank, and another was just a short kick, and missed his 51 yard field goal (I understand it's a tough kick, but a miss is a miss).
  3. It's true, and Green definitely has his head on straight. I think finishing last as far as the world goes is really the best kind of life to live, but in the football arena that is not going to fly.
  4. Well considering Missouri lost to us, and is likely going to lose their first 3 conference games, and Kansas just to Colorado, and Kansas State lost to Lafayette, and etc. etc. etc., I would sure hope we are still the favorites in the North.
  5. Not to mention Texas Tech was really a better team than us...and has had our number for years.
  6. Right. And while we're at it, let's make sure all the drill sergeants stop shouting at our brave men and women in the armed forces if they screw up during basic. After all, only POSITIVE feedback is appropriate for our troops. And let's make sure parents never discipline their kids when they're naughty or skip school or wreck the car, because our kids are precious, and only POSITIVE feedback is necessary to raise them. And let's make sure that our supervisors in the workplace never give bad reviews when workers screw up, because only POSITIVE reviews help workers do better. Let's all hold hands and sing kumbaya and and give the players great big hugs when they lay a huge egg on the field like last Saturday, because that's the best way to show them what we expect. :vomit: Apples and oranges man. No idea why people keep thinking this is a legitimate argument.
  7. Convey to who, exactly? To the players? I don't think you need to worry about that, the media and coaching staff do plenty of that (especially having Bo as a head coach).
  8. "Griping" about players and spanking your children are not even close to being accurate analogies in my opinion. Criticizing a player's play because he hasn't been putting forth effort, or isn't playing as well as he could, is completely warranted and I am totally fine with that, as long as what you are desiring from your criticism is for that player to start being more successful, not to tear him down and let him know how poorly he's doing just for the sake of being cruel. Spanking your kid is to teach a lesson and let the child grow from it, because they have committed a wrong, and in most cases, because they knew they were in the wrong but did it anyways (spanking a kid for a mistake or for doing something they were unaware was bad is pretty questionable to me). Booing players is neither of these things. It is a purposefully disrespectful act designed to let them know that you think badly of them. If it was to give the player encouragement to do better you could replace it with a "Come on now, let's get it going!" or "You need to make something happen here" or whatever fancies you. Instead, it's more along the lines of "Wow you are worthless and not worth my time." which I can't see resulting in anything positive. If you think that it is justified because it is human nature to be selfish or a jerk or whatever then that is fine, it's your opinion, but mine is that we should hold ourselves to the highest standard we can, and that there are plenty of legitimate alternatives to booing that have a much better result.
  9. Those of you saying "it's ok that the fans were booing, because it was obviously at the refs" are dead wrong. There was a lot of booing at the refs, but the boos I heard in the 4th quarter after every pass play that went for less than 5 yards were NOT directed at the refs. Even if they were, you really think the players can tell the difference? If you think it's fine to boo the players then I guess I don't have anything to say other than "you are wrong", but if you don't and are still justifying the fans booing I think you need to realize that if you are a player on the field and you hear boos it might not be that easy to understand that they aren't directed at you. This didn't need it's own thread, but some of the attitudes I am seeing regarding this topic are truly disgusting in my opinion.
  10. Man Zac Taylor was so much fun to watch. Also, we were wearing the socks in that game! I wish we still did.
  11. It seems to me the general consensus of people who dislike him is that he was a me-first player and put himself on a higher pedestal than the team. I don't know enough information to believe or refute this so I choose not to judge his character, but as far as football skills the man was an absolute joy to watch. Not saying that makes him worthy of being praised or not, it is what it is.
  12. Hey guys. A friend and I are heading up to the game tomorrow but I have always had a terrible time finding parking during Husker games. I am coming from Columbus and normally come in on the interstate and exit off on West O, or else come in on 14th street. I am willing to do whatever though, as long as I have an easy time finding a place to park. P.S. I parked in a nice parking garage right by the track and field complex for the spring game, and would really like to get in there again this year but I am not sure how full it would be for an actual game, and don't remember how to get in there.
  13. I think Nebraska fans are a little overdramatic about our stadium not being loud enough. It gets just as loud as any other stadium (save a very small number) when games are on the line or we are playing against highly ranked teams. We have been beating up on people for so many years that we never had to be super loud, but think about how loud it was for '06 Texas, the beginning of '07 USC, '01 Oklahoma, '08 Virginia Tech, etc. Do you really think other stadiums are THAT loud for every single game, including the cupcakes? I don't know for sure but my guess is no.
  14. I like Greg Sharpe, but one thing I think he is missing that I really liked about Rome is that extra degree of excitement on big plays. He has a good dynamic voice, but he never gets to that point (even during plays as huge as Suh's Pick-6 against Colorado last year) where he just loses it and freaks out, which is something I love hearing from a sports broadcaster when it's appropriate. Besides that though, I think he does great.
  15. All good points, but how many QB draws have we seen this year as compared to last year? He seems reluctant to take off during designed pass plays, but Watson is using Lee's legs in the playbook more than he has with anyone else.
  16. I have brought this up before, but there was never a conclusive decision to the best of my knowledge. Now I know that we used to have IRC chat and it got "advertised" for a while during gameday, but that faded out and I would like to rekindle thoughts on this. I really think that having an established IRC channel would help the Huskerboard community grow and continue to thrive, and I dont' just mean encouraging everyone to join up during a game, but to have people in there anytime they are able to get online (certain circumstances like work notwithstanding). I know there would be several people, myself included, who would be in the channel 24/7 idling when not around but still contributing to the numbers (it won't work if there aren't any people chatting whenever someone logs on) and it would be really easy to seamlessly integrate chat into the forums, making it an equal and standalone part of the Huskerboard experience!
  17. But Aaron Green is the next Barry Sanders
  18. Completely agree, but don't glorify Suh specifically for this kind of behavior. Roy Helu, Rex Burkhead, Prince Amukamura, Eric Hagg and several others are all absolutely Grade-A human beings as well and represent the University in an amazingly positive way.
  19. That's a shame. Going to a school that is successful in sports yet doesn't have great fan support myself, I can definitely sympathize with the state of things there. Be thankful that we don't have to worry about stuff like this.
  20. Guy had a misguided view of what was best for the Nebraska program and fans, but had good intentions. He's not the devil.
  21. The votes aren't automated, and as far as this having nothing to do with them actually getting votes, that is incorrect. Nissan gets one vote for the Heisman, and whoever is first on their page (the one Suh is dominating) will receive that vote.
  22. TuffTiger just posted, this thread is complete. Lock 'er up boys.
  23. Too bad it was a Husker fan who started the trend of negative posts afterwards.
  24. Well let's show them how stupid they are!
