  1. fast but little...though a decent coach could find a way to use that speed on the field regardless of whether he grows or not.
  2. So who do you think will earn them next fall? I would say Thenarse, Asante, Burkes...not sure which linebackers.
  3. Do you remember at all how pathetic our offense was against decent defenses?
  4. I got goosebumps just thinking about it...no wonder he had his players running through walls for him.
  5. I think Baylor could have a decent program, but not in the Big 12. If they were in the WAC or Mountain West, they could challenge for conference titles. I don't think it matters who's coaching them, they will be at or near the bottom of the Big 12 every year.
  6. Don't coaches grade players following a game? How about giving them out to the guys who graded 90 or above after the first game?
  7. I saw him fishing a couple times in the interstate lakes. My grandparents wouldn't let me go talk to him, said to just let him enjoy some peace and quiet.
  8. Good to hear that TO wants to interview him...I think he would be a great choice. With the offensive talent we have, Kelly could have them averaging 40 pts a game.
  9. I can confirm this...I heard it from a friend who knows a guy who installed some nutria cages in the head coach's office.
  10. I would have loved to have seen how TO would have used Eric Crouch and Bobby Newcombe...not to mentioned he would have been able to bring in another star running back. I think he could have had 1 more NC for sure. Also, we would be already running the spread option, and this whole West Coast experiment never would have happened.
  11. With the Huskers likely running more of a spread next year, Marlon could really do some big things. His ability in the open field is outstanding, and he could be used in a variety of ways (maybe even taking shotgun snaps like McFadden?). He could easily be a first-day pick next year.
  12. He would be great, but I highly doubt he's interested.
  13. great read...we've got to get back to that at all costs!
  14. The more guys you have...the more guys you can hit. The more guys you hit...the tougher you get. Makes perfect sense to me. My biggest expectation for the new coach is that the Huskers be the hardest hitting team in the B12 every year.
  15. I'm OK with TG or Bo (or whomever TO chooses for that matter). I'm more concerned with who the assistants will be. If it is either Pelini or Gill, I wouldn't be surprised if Watson was retained as OC. If Gill is the coach, who would he bring in to coach the D?
  16. The D-Line made it tough on the 'backers this year for sure...but if they had been going all out every play, they could have overcome some of that. Bo made some plays, but lacked the fire and leadership needed for a Captain of the defense.
  17. I know it is highly unlikely...just stating what I had heard. What if he was interested in coaching the college game? Would he be a good fit for the Huskers?
  18. San Jose St W N Mexico St W V Tech L West Mich W Mizzou L Tex Tech W ISU W Baylor W at OU L Kansas L at KSU W Colorado W 8-4 with a shot to upset either Kansas or OU and go 9-3
  19. Jim Rome mentioned Bill Cowher as being interested in the NU job. At first the idea seemed ludicrous, but the more I think about it, the more I like it. He would definitely have the D playing mean and aggressive, and emphasize a power running game. Also, I think his reputation would help him be a great recruiter. I would be very surprised if he is truly interested, but if so I think he would be a great hire.
  20. I don't think that Bill was a bad person, or even necessarily a bad football coach. The Huskers did some good things under him (although obviously the bad outweighed the good). I think if he had come in under different circumstances (i.e. under an AD who wasn't an a-hole), things might have been different. Ultimately, things happened that didn't sit well with us (the fans) and if you're not winning, those things are magnified. While I am glad to see a change, I wish Bill the best of luck in the future. Just don't let the door hit you on the way out!
  21. I completely agree. The B12 championship game wouldn't be such a hurdle if everyone else had to get through it as well. I don't think that having just conference champions in a playoff would be a great solution. There are some years where there are several really good teams in a particular conference and other conferences that are really weak. Conference Champs would be guaranteed to be in, but there would have to be some at-large bids as well.
