  1. 2 huge turnovers leading to 14 points? no I'm not kidding.
  2. Ganz is Clemson's best player today. It's time for Witt.
  3. According to the World Herald, Marlon Lucky is 100% healthy and ready to go for the Gator Bowl. Many on this board prefer Helu to Lucky, and in the last few games we've really seen what Roy can bring to the table. However, I think having Lucky available as well makes us much more potent, especially in the passing game. He is definitely the better pass blocker, and much better on the screen play and the wheels routes. And don't forget his passing ability. I would bet we'll see a halfback pass against Clemson. I hope Watson is putting in some wrinkles to get both Helu and Lucky on the field at the same time.
  4. The return to the glorious tradition of the Blackshirts is beginning!
  5. Hey everyone, My wife and I are leaving tomorrow morning for Uganda to adopt a little boy. I will not be able to catch the VT game on 9/27. Also, living in SoCal I'm not sure whether it will be shown here or not...I'm setting the DVR anyway, but I'm not sure I will be able to get it (and I can't order it on gameplan as I will be out of the country). Would someone out there be willing to burn a DVD of the game for me?

  8. Probably will have a lot to do with how both teams are doing up to that point. If both teams went in undefeated or near that there would be a good chance The only other decent games that Saturday I see are Tennessee/Auburn, Wisconsin/Michigan, and Alabama/Georgia All three of those are much more likely to get gameday than we are.
  9. All the talk about a "Heisman-level QB" makes me laugh. In any given year there are what, maybe 4 or 5 of those in the country at most? We haven't even had a top 25 level program in 4 years...how are we going to get this "Heisman-level QB"? Do they now grow on trees or something? Every program in the country wants an elite QB...very few teams get them.
  10. I wonder where we would be if Tom hadn't made that promise to Solich and stayed around a couple more years. I'm sure he could have done some amazing things with Crouch and Newcombe.
  11. Agreed...if the over/under was 7.5 it would be a tougher bet. Over on 6.5 looks to me like 75-80% chance of winning.
  12. Interesting post...I mostly agree. I think I would take Joey over Freeman, just because Freeman is a lazy fat @$$, and McGee-Ganz is probably a toss-up. In defense of Freeman...he's probably do a lot better if he didn't have such an asswipe for a coach. By the way...ISU QB's are Arnaud and/or Bates. Both of them look good this spring and Bates has actually learned to throw the ball accurately (in scrimmages anyway). Actually threw the ball on a rope for a 94 yard TD last weekend along with a 54 yarder and a couple of 30 yarders. Chizek is leaning toward a two player platooning situation at QB...which isn't a bad idea if they continue to highlight the option like they have this spring...I mean you have two 230 lb QB's who can knock other people around. Need to highlight that. Regarding the NU situation...Ganz reminds me a lot of Mark (?) Turman back in the 90's. Sat and sat while Frazier and Berringer did all the playing but when the opportunity came up (Frazier in the hospital with a blood clot and Berringer out at halftime because of the lung) Turman comes in and totally piledrives the other team...(I believe it was KSU...could be mistaken). He was ready to play when called upon, did a great job and filled in admirably until someone better came along...then went back to holding the clip board. Ganz is the best person available for the job at the moment and will be the starting QB till someone better comes along. I don't think Turman-Ganz is a good comparison. Ganz is far more athletic, and a much better QB. While above I agreed that he was in the bottom third of the B12 talent-wise, that was based on last year. With an improved line and running game (fingers crossed), we may just see Joey in a new light after the first few games.

  14. I'm not 100% positive, but I think it was in Bo's spring press conference were he said "I told the players if you don't beleive we can win every game this year then you don't belong on this team." I'd say he has a little higher goal then 6-6. I'll steal what Bo had to say but I'll re-word it......here it goes "If you don't believe that we can win every game this year then you don't belong on this message board!" I'm sorry for being rude but I believe in this team and that's what this team needs from its fans is to believe in them. If we have confidence in them and they'll have confidence in themselves knowning that we believe in them. If we're pumped up cheering, they'll be pumped up ready to play. Lets light a fire under their a$$es and lets get our team PUMPED UP. GO BIG RED Obviously there's a difference between believing you can win every game, and what constitutes a reasonable expectation for this season...and I think most on this board get that. This is one thing that sets Husker fans apart, we understand it can take a couple years to build a program. But we also demand results. Seeing improvements might enough for this year, possibly next, but after that it comes down to the win-loss record. Which is why Cally got canned. Flashy stats and impressive recruits are nice, but if you're not winning you're out! Now, while I generally feel that Mark May's football analysis is complete crap, the 6-6 record he predicted for us is close to being realistic. The fact is, we'll probably be underdogs vs. VT, Mizzou, TT, OU and KU. And with how they killed us last year, before the season CU would be favored over us. I think the team will improve greatly, and we will win two of the three among VT, KU and CU. So I guess I'm saying that 6-6 is realistic...7-5 is satisfactory...I'm looking for 8-4...and there's an outside chance at 9-3. But in 2010, 9-3 or better or bust.
  15. johnny husker makes a great point about the offense in 03. Against any D with a pulse they couldn't do anything, which definitely made it tough for the Blackshirts in the UT, KSU, and MU games. Also, the spread is not near as new as it was in 03. There is much more film of how to slow down and stop it. Hell, even Cosgrove did some good things against MU two years ago. Bo will be able to put together solid schemes for the spread.
  16. this kid looks like a beast!
  17. He looks a bit too much like this guy:
  18. No freaking way Wald plays this year...especially as a db. I doubt he'll be much more than a special teams guy for his career.
  19. I really like that we're not going to need to be starting a freshman at QB for some time. Once Lee is done, Witt, Spano and whoever we get this year can battle it out. Hopefully we'll get that depth at all positions in the next couple years so we can just re-load instead of going through rebuilding.
  20. With all the spread offense we'll face in the B12, most likely we'll see all three of these guys on the field together alot, regardless of what their position technically is.
