  1. If you don't care about stats that other teams put up, why are you basing your aguments on "top half defenses"? Those are mostly built on stats against other teams. 2 of the 3 we played a majority of the game with a gimpy quarterback that was forced into doing things that he doesn't do well at. In the Texas game the scheme and playcalling certainly wasn't the issue, it was the execution. I would also argue the same in the A&M game, Watson's play had Reed in position for a TD, but an awful throw by Martinez ended up as an interception. Even in the OU game, it was poor decision making by Taylor that cost us the game. I put the A&M and OU losses on the coach that wanted Martinez in the game, and that wasn't our OC. How very Callahan-esque. When the offense looks good (even if it's only against a bottom of the barrel defense) it's due to great coaches and the gameplans they designed. When it doesn't work, it's because of the players: injuries, lack of depth, lack of experience, execution, etc. Even when history dictates that our offensive coordinator has been mediocre at best, and other OCs seem to have better success with the same personnel issues. Yeah, it sure rings a bell doesn't it? I too heard those same excuses for the four unbearable Clownahan years. When we get annihilated, it's the "no talent" excuse. When we beat a Ball St or someone it's "great coaching". Above all else, get big yds/points at garbage time so the offense stats looks good. Just like 2008. We play a good defense and we're stuffed like sardines....down 35 - 0 in the 2nd qtr we start racking up the garbage pts vs the Sooner waterboys (4 TDs) and we get to pretend they couldn't stop us. Thank God Bo doesn't buy that bs. Always said that the problems from 2004 to 2007 weren't just defensive, and if during those years Nebraska had the defense that they do now the team would still have the same kind of record they have now. If the offense can't score no matter how good the defense, that team will lose. It's like the people that love Ganz, but gloss over the fact that he threw 11 int's with most of those int costing Nebraska points.
  2. Maybe they were top ten because they were always behind and needed to pass.
  3. Billy C called the plays for most of 2007. IIRC Wats called 1 game or half a game, or maybe 1 1/2 games, I can't remember off the top of my head. This is a great point. You only really have 2008, 2009, 2010 to look at. So people can stop pointing to Watson's Colorado years and saying he has only ever called average offenses. In fact, in 2007 when Watson called half a game or whatever, since Callahan was the scapegoat/message board enemey no.1 of the day, people praised his playcalling to no end and said only when Callahan's ego got into the way and he took back the reigns, did he "go away from what was working" and send us back into the gutter. A lot of people's problems have to do with playcalling but I really think people will always have problems with anyone who ever calls plays, no matter what his name is. When we have a new OC, it is going to be the same thing. Same arguments, same catchlines, that are always going to be around. The only thing that chances is the target. It isn't always going to be a valid criticism to throw around. Eh, Bo has a lot of say in the offense and specifically in who plays quarterback, but it's his right as Head Coach and it sort of should be, you know? he's head coach, not DC, an he should have this kind of control over the whole team. IMO. If our offense was a lot more successful this year, Bo would be gathering endless praise for the call on Taylor, which would be well merited. Do you have any reason not to believe that, or are you just hoping it isn't true because it wouldn't suit the SW angle you are looking for? Just wondering what reason you have to beleive that Watson not calling the plays or deciding who the qb is this year? Last year Watson had no problem stating in the paper that what Nebraska was running was not what he wanted to run and how he had to hold back on play calling and how that hurt him. I'm guessing he hasn't turned to timid this year that he wouldn't be defelecting the heat off himself if he wasnt the one calling the plays and deciding the qb. Sounds like it the other way and your trying to deflect some of the heat onto Bo. Im also guessing that if the Offense was successful this year that Watson would be using it as a positive when he's interviewing for all these HC jobs.
  4. Will Muschamps Defense was exactly lights out this year either. When was the last head coaching gig Will had?......NONE None - the same number of times Muschamp has been censured by his administration. The same number of times Muschamp has publicly embarrassed his school. The same number of times major media outlets have publicly questioned Muschamp's character. NONE is not necessarily a bad thing. When you're hiring for the position they're hiring for, character plays a huge role. Bo's character has come into question a LOT in the past year. Muschamp... not so much. Much as I love Bo, the honeymoon is over for me.
  5. Found this interesting, not sure if this has been discussed. http://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/2010/12/09/jim-delany-warns-non-aq-leagues-dont-expect-more-than-youre/?a_dgi=aolshare_facebook
  6. That's if NU had a good offense.
  7. Would never happen in Nebraska. Blue hairs would have a fit if everyone stood up like that.
  8. yep right on point about Pelini showing interest in Miami. Everyone should pm him for information. How do you know he didnt? BTW Willie has been dead on more than anyone else here Ive seen. Willie was completely on point here, and if you paid attention he said that Bo was not going to go. I don't know how relieved anyone should be about the situation even with Bo staying on, as he more or less let it get out there that he was displeased with the athletic department/university for the A&M reprimands, conveniently right in the aftermath of letting the Miami story fester for a couple of days. I think it's a subtle statement from Bo, to Harvey. IBR or I could have could have told you that BO was not going to a School that fired a coach with a winning record, lack of facilities, and can hardly sell out their stadium even against good teams. Bo said he had no interest that refutes with Willie saying their was some interest. Anyone think Pelini let the Miami talk fester to get people off firing Watson kick everyone was on? I doubt Pelini that devious it's probably more that he doesnt care what people are saying. So....If there was interest then you think Bo would release a statement that said "Yeah, I kind of was interested but decided not to go." or better yet "I just did this to rub Harvey;s nose in it and scare you all." That really seems possible to you? So your saying Willie was right because Bo's not going to say he was interested if he really was? Hard to be wrong in anything if you take that stand since it doesnt matter what BO's says. Now I know how IBR got people to follow him.
  9. Well something big, white and massive did go through Nebraska. I think it was a snow storm though.
  10. Dollar Bill talked about wanting to start a hockey team when UNO was starting with theirs, but title 9 made it next to impossible.

  13. He must have, because no one seems to remember all those costly 11 int's.
  14. Losing 10-6 is really no different then 10-3 and I'm guessing that the new OC wouldnt be here very long if thats his production. Someone said the same thing last and their right back where they were. If Watson stays I'm afraid that it's just going to get worse with a harder schedule with teams that do have decent defenses. Now lets say the new OC comes in and starts to score like Stanford or Wisc of this year, Is anyone going to complain other then Zoogies? Why would I complain about that? The only thing I am complaining about is the treatment of Watson. As well as the idea that getting rid of him and staying the course otherwise, will solve anything. If he leaves, people are going to throw a giant party here, and that's going to be pretty disgusting to watch, IMO. He deserves better than that. Now if you complained at the treatment of Callahan, Pederson and Cosgrove at the time they were dismissed then I understand this statment. I wouldnt agree, but would undestand it. How does Watson deserve better? Just to clear it up I was against keeping anything associated with Callahan and the westcoast offense.
  15. I think I've stated several times that I get a lot of enjoyment debunking myths and rumors. Discussing what you say neither proves nor disproves anything, it's just a discussion, and as I've noted in recent threads, I've often found you to be more credible than Bo. But not always. I'm not dismissing anything you're saying. Taking the statements you put forth and discussing them is all I've ever been interested in. It's when you puffed up with, "I'm me, believe me" stuff that I logically ask, "And who are you that we should believe you?" which, you must admit, is a fair question. Rather than answer that you get defensive, and here we are. Again. I recognize that you're in an uncomfortable position in that you (I'm willing to believe, based on past truths) have greater access than most to the team, and that you can't disclose that source. But you have to recognize the position that puts the rest of the members in as well, especially when we're discussing rumors for which there is no factual basis. More understanding and less defensiveness is the best choice, I would assert. Do you not agree? Magic Eight ball or I bleed red?
