  1. I honestly think 18 regular season wins could do it. We've checked a lot of boxes so far that would surpass most bubble teams. 1)SOS will be top 15 or better 2.) If we get to 18 wins RPI will be top 50...probably easily top 50 in fact 3.) We already have two strong road wins 4.)one bad loss so far but you have to remember EVERY bubble team will have a bad loss which is why theyre on the bubble Another win or two against ranked opponents and we will have one of if not the strongest resume compared to other bubble teams If we finish top 4 and have a buy in conference tourney we are in If we finish with 18 wins and and lose first round of conference tourney we will be really really close but probably out 18 wins and a conference tourney win we are in 17 wins and two conference tourney wins i think we are like scenario two but in this time if we play the next 3 games 2-1 then i think we are set up really well as hard as it is to fathom after the 6-6 start. Im excited right now!
  2. Watching this USC game I was thinking of Lewis does indeed pick Nebraska I think that shows his confidence with Tanner Lee, POB Or gebbia so something to think about. Not saying if he doesn't pick us it means bc our qbs aren't good but rather if he does it shows how good they actually are
  3. By now, everyone on this message board knows what the programs strengths and weaknesses are. We all recognize we are a ways off from being a playoff team. Forget the last 15 years because I realize its been a while since we've had success. We've heard the word patience plenty of times and noone wants to hear it but we have to just give this program a chance to build without comparing ourselves or thinking that another change will do the trick. For those thinking year 3 is the deal breaker for Riley I hope you can have some common sense going forward. Like we've all said on here, we are a ways off. With that being said, I think its best to treat these coaches as if they'll be hear for a long time and let them work on getting the program back to a high level and do our part by supporting them through thick and thin. Nebraska will always have a solid foundation but theres no doubt its a rebuilding program so let them try and build it and if you want to analyze the coaching then lets see if we can get our weaknesses turned around and build on our strengths without comparing ourselves. That is what we should be analyzing the coaching on right now. This doesn't mean i have low expectations or don't want to win. I have high expectations and believe we should compete for a big ten title every year but right now i think we need to shift our thinking a little and focus on establishing a program again. When the day comes to where we are a playoff contender we will know how to handle it because we've done it plenty of times and thats the expectation but going forward the next few years I think its time we stay a proud fan base but check our ego and realize that not only do we need to let the coaches build the program back up but also let them run the program. It's going to be a few years if you haven;t figured that out so theres no need to search for perfection right now. Not being negative but just common sense. Theres a lot of great young players and more to come. Lets just let it play out because if we keep improving there will still be great football in the near future even if it doesn't bring a championship as soon as wed like
  4. Please add a little explanation of 'depth' as I define depth as 'proven' talent that is ready, able and willing to play in the next game! POB was NOT 'depth' this year as he was off limits apparently as far as playing on this year's team. I am not going to redshirt Gebbia next year in my view of depth as I think we need 4 QBs ready to play any given game. You can lose two or three in a week's time now and then and certainly during the course of hundreds of practices/games annually. I'm with you as far as having capable backups and if you look at it like that then yes it could be somewhat concerning that we didn't here more about POB pushing guys ahead of him, however for me very little concern. Nebraska is a place you're expected to win every year no matter what but there does come times where you have to look out for the future of the program and I think we saw that this year. I didn't read your thoughts carefully but I do agree at QB you need plenty of guys because it's rare your number one stays healthy all year. I think going forward this won't be a problem though. A big part of coaches jobs is not just developing. But also organizing the classes to maintain depth for the future and they're doing exactly that it seems like. With the plan they're on now our qb position is set up to put experienced guys back there because they'll all have atleast 2-3 years of college football experience and the only way we won't is if a freshman or redshirt freshman beats them out and if that happens that probably means he's a stallion and not winning the job by default like Martinez and Tommy did
  5. I get this is a message board but are we really being serious here? Do some truly believe what's being said on this topic? POB a true freshman not starting over a 5th year player and 4 year starter? TA is no slouch which some people have completely lost sight of. Questioning the future of an 18 yr old because he didn't win the starting job from a 23 year old is why this thread SHOULD BE DELETED. This is of course just my opinion but there's nothing that will change it. It's of my opinion that a 22-23 year old will almost ALWAYS respond better to playing in front of 90k of the most "knowledgeable fans in the country" or better yet in front of 90-100k fans on Halloween weekend in madison or the following week at the horseshoe. Doesn't matter the score TA gives us the best chance to win those
  6. The fact that some people are putting their faith in a washout from Tulane doesn't instill much confidence for next year.... Tanner is far from a wash up qb. He's transferring because the knew coaching staff runs the option. He could've transferred anywhere and will be the one of the most effective qbs we've had in a long time
  7. Other than the 3rd and 1 langsdorf called a phenomenal game in my opinion considering all the factors he's dealing with.. they had to earn everything last night and I thought he set the offense up in the best possible way that's physically possible for then
  8. Tanner Lee will start next year.
  9. Im feeling as down as all of you after these last two weeks and feel very frustrated as well but I'm going to take a different approach and choose to continue to be excited about Nebraska football. There are two over-arching ideas that we as fans have allowed to rob the joy that we've always had in Nebraska football. The first in my opinion is our mental toughness as FANS and the second is comparing ourselves. Winning a Conference title and National title is hard. Nebraska competes at the highest level in college football against programs, who like us, have some of the best coaches and players in the country. It's going to be hard but we wouldn't want it any other way. The program and us fans have earned the right to compete at this level because of our commitment, loyalty and decades of winning so I think we sometimes need to relish the challenges that comes along with trying to be the best college football program in the country. It's not easy and never will be. The other thing I believe us fans should avoid is the comparison game. Michigan is rolling, Urban isn't going away and Saban is a legend. Washington is having a great year and there are many other examples but at the end of the day we have it pretty freaking good here at Nebraska as well. We all have built up frustration and disappointment inside us right now but I think the strongest emotion we need to feel is the eagerness to stay after it and control what we can as fans which is being loyal and continue to stay excited and cheer hard. The fans are what has helped grow the program so I think we need to keep making the decision to do our part even when we feel we are inferior at the given moment. We can help Nebraska football keep rolling so enjoy the mystery and challenge of college football. I'm not sure what the answer it and I would love to have it like mich, bama and osu right now but currently we aren't on that level but it doesn't mean we can't be comfortable in our own skin Mike Riley has made us proud off the field again and is working on doing it on the field. Not one fan base has been as loyal and committed as our so lets keep that going by staying excited and staying after it. Its not easy but its not over either and never will be at Nebraska. GBR!
  10. I've never heard this being talked about. I've heard possible student athlete additions in south stadium (more training rooms, showers, hang out areas) but I've never heard anything this expansive
  11. ive heard they're wearing them vs NW
  12. Venting our frustrations on a message board is much better than tweeting the actual recruit so props for that but even on message boards it's the blind leading the blind. 99% of people have no clue what goes on in the recruiting process both from the coaches and recruits. Nebraska isn't the only school in the country with a lot to offer and not that every recruit reads message boards but some probably do and sometimes we sound like sheltered people who know nothing but Nebraska. Nebraska is a far superior football school, both have good academics and Nebraska probably would give him much more exposure but if you're really that confused why he picked Colorado then maybe you should get out more or think about it from his shoes. Conference was a huge part of it in my opinion and playing time
  13. We are ok at receiver and defensive backs but this one hurts and we needed him.
  14. Well we got one top 50 rpi win on the ROAD and our RPI moved 20 plus spots. This at least allows us fans to hope for a little while longer as it looked impossible 3 weeks ago. It's not necessarily the amount of wins especially with a down big 10 we have to get our RPI moving up significantly which kind of goes hand in hand with who you win and lose to. We are at the point where who we beat and lose the remainder of the season is very important. Now that we got a big win we can't afford any more bad losses so psu and Rutgers, Minnesota are huge. I think if they finish 18-13 in the manner below they will have to get to the big ten championship game. If they could turn the ohio state loss to a win then I think it dramatically changed things even though it's just one game. I think they would only need one win in the big ten tourney to dance. Get through these. Next three and they could make a serious run MSU - W Michigan - W Purdue - L Maryland - L Rutgers - W Wisconsin - W Penn State - W Indiana - L OSU - L Penn State - W Purdue - L NorthWestern - W

  16. I agree he still has a lot to prove on the coaching side
  17. I don't think they will have to use a scholarship on him. Im pretty sure employee family members go to school basically for free. I think technically it's a dollar per credit
  18. I think Huskers win this. Iowa fans are having a great year but deep down whether they admit it or not they have to be a little sick to their stomachs thinking of this game. Not blamin them bc I would too if the tables were turned and they had a chance to knock us out of national title hopes. Of all the teams to knock you out man it would suck if it were iowa. I'm sure plenty have that anxiety
  19. Just curious if anyone knows where opposing teams usually stay when they play Nebraska? I heard when USC and Texas came here they stayed in Omaha. No reason behind the bought except for curiosity
  20. That's what I meant not athletic department sorry
  21. He donates to the university, not the athletic department.
  22. Buffet doesn't donate. Never has and never will. He loves NU but will never donate
