  1. ... methinks "Yay" was the intended word there.
  2. A flaming pile of crap has a lot more energy than the Husker defense this year.
  3. Make it a three-way with Pelini added?
  4. Heck, I'll contribute to a buyout. Lemme count my money here.. well, I've got six dollars in cash!
  5. That's a great post with refreshing insight here. Just had to re-post it.
  6. The big money boosters who just approved, after the Nevada game, of the current regime, and gave The Gang of Four carte blanche on the Husker's future, would have to change their minds big time. And they aint gonna do that unless Perlman, Pederson, Callahan and Cosgrove take a thorough nose-dive for about two more seasons. Then you might see some re-thought by the big money people who are still behind The Gang of Four even after this last embarrassment.
  7. I agree, and like the other poster up there says, his resume is a testamony to that fact. What did Callahan think, that they guy was going to improve with the program? Or was he just calling old friends to share in the wealth of the new regime?
  8. "Winning cures everything." If that were true Solich would still be here after his 10 - 2 season. Things that need to be cured are sick things, aren't they? What is sick at Nebraska, in my opinion, is the REASON Callahan and his creepy crew were brought in: to win was secondary (but hoped for, even by Pederson), primarily Pederson just plain cleaned house of people he was jealous of from the old tried and true regime.. we even lost Turner Gill. It was just a power trip instead of anything like the segue between the Devany and Osborne coaching changes and even the Osborne and Solich coaching changes. Pederson, via Callahan, had to have all of the Osborne fellas GONE. The natural link between Nebraska football, "Husker Power," and the culture here, was trashed by Steve Pederson for the simple reason that he had and has no clue as to what it is. Just my opinion from reading around and listening to the old timers here in Lincoln talk about what they've seen transpire over the decades. Their conclusions about it all? Nebraska is "finished" as a contending power in the Big 12, let alone in the nation. We are now nothing more than another Iowa State or other also-ran trying to "rebuild a great program" by hiring and firing coaches.
  9. Does anybody have a list, or even an inkling, of coaches who would even want to come to Nebraska?
  10. It doesn't matter if they replace the coaching staff or even if they replace the AD. The Nebraska football team is not going to start winning game after game. Probably not for some time to come. The most Husker fans can hope for is a competitive spirit to be restored at Nebraska. And that is not something that happens overnight. And, sadly, that is not something that happens with the current coaching staff, it appears. But Husker fans will still have to be patient, even with a change in regime. Again.
  11. Oklahoma State - 35 Nebraska - 17 Nebraska rushing yards - 112 Nebraska passing yards - 156
  12. We are supposed to have the top strength and conditioning coach in the country. He has the wide receiver from the Ariz Cardinals coming back in the off season to work out with him. Fitzgerald [spelling?]. At least that's what was posted on this board when he was brought back from Pitt. Right? GBR!!! Dave Kennedy. He's a man with a great resume. He's produced various award winning players from time to time and has been regarded as "The" s and t coach in the country. I believe he has no clue as to Nebraska culture and power and lost that when at Ohio State, despite his experiences as an assistant at NU. Same as the good coach Callahan. Good coaches. No clue. Just my opinion.
  13. From the Wikipedia article about Bob Devaney: "Devaney's record at Nebraska was 101-20-2, with 9 bowl appearances in 11 years, and two national championships. His teams won or shared eight Big 8 titles. His overall college head coaching record was 136-30-7, for an outstanding .806 win-loss percentage." From the Wikipedia article about Tom Osborne: "His 255-49-3 record gave him the best winning percentage (83.6%) among active NCAA Division I-A coaches at the time of his retirement and the fifth-best of all time." Two over the top, outstanding football coaches for the same program, in a row. That's about half a century of extraordinary coaching. I have some agreement with those who want the current crew out of here, but I have to admit that my biggest disappointment came not when Callahan arrived, but when the strength and conditioning people were jettisoned along with all the other coaches and staff by Callahan. Football, at its bottom line, is a contest of strength and conditioning ("good blocking and good tackling" as Nute Rockne answered "What's the secret of Notre Dame's successes?"), and I am of the opinion that Devaney and Osborne were hyper aware of that over time. Interesting article as an aside: http://www.strengthdisk.com/ViewArticle.db...mp;ATCLID=35516
  14. Dead grampas and dads etc don't know what's going on here? Hmm.. I was WONDERING if there were very many atheists on this board. Looks like only a few.
  15. You've never been to Austin for a Texas - Texas A&M game.
  16. Gads.. (I'm new here....... oh well :asshat ) Huskers - 27 Kittens - 21 Rushing - 118 Passing - 200 Defense scores a touchdown
  17. You'll get it out of Kelly and Lucky, I'll bet. But Mr. Purify is saddled by yet another personal trajedy. That can be distracting, and I'm wondering if he'll even start.
  18. "..is there nothing else to post on this site?" If you're a USC or Texas or LSU or Oklahoma fan: yes, post away about success and fulfilling the dreams of your fans. If you're a Nebraska fan, sadly, no; there is WORRY and sadness over the loss of a once perennial contender of a program. I think the worry is there because there's sense of a sinking football program, despite BC's love of the "W" no matter the score and stats that tell the story of the game. Nebraska lost in yardage, at home, to Ball State. "Callahan is 0-7 against teams ranked higher than 20th," does that sound like a Nebraska football head coach?
  19. I won't feel satisfied until the Huskers get their toughness back, their Nebraska toughness that carried them through in the past, win or lose. Anytime a college football player can say, “I think once this defense takes a shot in the mouth, we kind of back off a little bit" you know what the problems are and why the scores and stats are what they are now. Say WHAT?? Can you imagine Grant Wistrom or Christian Peter saying something like that? Well, it was McKeon, the former tough guy on the defense. What happened to him? Is this a permanent change? Is this something coached into him? How many other players feel the same way? I don't care if they lose 5 more games, I just can't stand to see huge holes and 50 yard runs up the middle by our opponents, no matter their rank in the NCAA. Nebraska now has at least one player admitting to "backing off" once they're challenged physically. I'm sorry, but that is death to a football team in any league or division.
  20. My wife and I. I'm hoping I don't have to shush any boo-birds this week. It was getting a little testy in our section.
  21. "That’s silly to be banned for what was clearly a joke—albeit in poor taste." It's just that you know that and I know that and most people know that, but it seems that these days there are more and more who are incited by such things when they see it, and we see in the news more and more people acting on such "jokes," or at least attempting to. Maybe a deletion of the offending post and a warning would have been better than banning, unless the board sysops were legally protecting themselves; imagine if soom kook harmed Pederson and later talked about seeing "those ideas" on an online forum such as this one. Big trouble for the forum sysops, likely.
  22. Death threats, joking or not, look pretty scary to coaches, politicians, actors, etc. Good that he got banned. The only hope is that you, his son, are learning something about decorum and where lines are crossed, etc, from this.
  23. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? - 15 years or so. 2) What/who led you to The Nation? - My wife. 3) Where are you from originally? - Los Angeles 4) Where do you live now? - Lincoln 5) Favorite Husker memory? - The Notre Dame game here several years ago. 6) Worst Husker memory? - "The beginning of the end" for the Nebraska program; when Tom left. 7) Number of home games attended? - We've had season tickets since 1991 8) Number of away games attended? - Many.. we try to get to the Colorado, ISU and Mizzou games, mainly. 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? - A ragged old white t-shirt with "Nebraska" across the front in rustic old lettering I've had for many years. 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) - Our seats are in a corner of South Stadium. 11) Favorite all time player? - I haven't seen a player for Nebraska that has really excited me as much as the USC greats through the years (OJ Simpson, Anthony Davis, Reggie Busch, etc), but Eric Crouch had moments. 12) WCO or Option? - West Coast Offense allows for a good running game. 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? - Byrne, of course. 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? - They're both idiotic. 15) Favorite Husker play? - I don't have one. 16) Favorite game-day beverage? - Hennessy in a snifter, followed by cold Sam Adams. 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source) - I googled "Husker forums."
  24. Maybe he should never have been hired in the first place, given the resume posted in another topic. BC's friendship with a defensive coordinator with such a poor track record got in the way of his common sense, in my opinion. Yes, a second rate coach should not be tolerated at a program like Nebraska's. The offense is clicking along pretty well, now. I think that they should think about replacing Cosgrove at the end of the season for someone with something better in their background than 45th in defense in the nation.
