  1. Dunno if anyone remembers the thread, but Kenny Bell was my prediction for the first member of the 2010 class to score a touchdown (on a kick or punt return). I was blown away by his speed on film. He can't get on the field soon enough for me.
  2. That he's one of the best defensive coaches in college football? LSU 2002- 8th in total defense (286.77 ypg), 15th in scoring defense (18.3 ppg) 2003- 1st in total defense (252 ypg), 1st in scoring defense (11 ppg) 2004- 3rd in total defense (256.92 ypg), 14th in scoring defense (17.1 ppg) Auburn 2006- 19th in total defense (292.31 ypg), 7th in scoring defense (13.9 ppg) 2007- 6th in total defense (297.92 ypg), 6th in scoring defense (16.9 ppg) Texas 2008- 51st in total defense (342.92 ypg), 18th in scoring defense (18.7 ppg) 2009- 3rd in total defense (251.93 ypg), 12th in scoring defense (16.7 ppg) 2010- 7th in total defense (300.17 ypg), 51st in scoring defense (23.67 ppg)
  3. I personally don't think the Perlman situation has much of anything to do with this rumor. I believe it's entirely possible that Bo was upset about Perlman's public comments, but Bo's response wouldn't be to involve the media and the rumor mill to hold anyone's feet to the fire. He'd go and talk to Perlman about it one on one.
  4. Maybe the best first post ever. Thanks, zeek.
  5. Maybe I have to go rewatch, but I thought the o-line played okay. Not great, but Taylor holding on to the ball made them look worse than they were in pass protection, and his reluctance (to put it kindly) to keep the ball on the zone read made them look worse than they were in the run game.
  6. I could just as easily apply those quotes and those sentiments to fans who go on an emotional bender whenever their team loses a hard fought game.
  7. Not the goal but the game. Not the victory but the action. In the deed the glory. Big losses hurt, but are those words just window dressing? Is this a fan base of sore losers and hypocrites?
  8. There are going to be some people writing some ridiculous things today. If we end up playing Iowa in the Insight Bowl, I'll take it gladly. That will be a fun game to watch.
  9. Talk about arrogant. Hey, maybe they should gauge the interest of Bill Belichick while they're at it.
  10. I'd rather watch Nebraska/Iowa than Nebraska/UConn. About a million times over.
  11. David, Hagg, and Gomes are going to be the guys feeling the heat in this game; tasked with stopping those runs out of the diamond and taking away Jones' easy short and intermediate throws. If those three play well, it drastically improves our chances of winning.
  12. I agree, I don't want to hear any boos in that situation. I do want to hear a 'Big Ten' chant after the trophy presentation, though
  13. I hate to say it, but if the stuff about Bo yelling at Taylor for texting his dad in the training room is true, and Perlman knew about it, it all kind of fits as to why he'd want to get out in front of this publicly with a condemnation. Hopefully that's not what happened.
  14. After reading how close Taylor and his dad are, I hate how plausible this sounds. Hypothetically, if that was my son I saw getting dressed down like that on national TV and I knew it was for getting in touch to let me know that he was not seriously injured, I would be furious. There may not be anything to the rumor about Taylor quitting, but if that truly is the reason that Bo was letting him have it, that's not good. I hope that's not true.
  15. Bo walks a fine line with his passion, and it isn't hard to tell when he crosses the line and needs to rein it back in. That sort of non-stop rage is not constructive or morale-boosting. Like with most things in life, you've got to strike a balance.
  16. Saying the game could have been called more evenly is probably an understatement, but I don't want to take anything away from TAMU. Your boys brought it on defense last night. Good luck next season and beyond, Aggies. I think Sherman is building something good down there, and it's been a long time coming for you guys.
  17. I don't care how bad the opposing offense is, when you hold someone under a hundred yards in a game, that is complete and utter defensive domination. Very, very impressive.
  18. If we beat Kansas and Colorado, then beat Oklahoma in the CCG, not only would that be the most fitting ending, but it would also mean that we played and beat all the old Big 8 teams on our way out. I've been dreaming about this scenario all season. I really, really, really want Oklahoma to win out.
  19. Very rarely do I get on huskerboard and see a thread title that just instantly makes me angry, but this one did it. Yes, we're 8-1, ranked in the top 10, have our division locked up, and may very well be the best team in the conference, but the staple of Pelini coaching is not having the team ready to play. Stop and think before you hit the post button.
  20. Yeah, Sagarin's model really is very well constructed. If you want to boil it down, basically Missouri is still edging us out in his rankings because despite the fact that we've had fairly similar SOS (theirs has been a little bit harder), and we both have a win over a top 10 team, their one loss came at the hands of the currently 5th ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers, while our one loss came at the hands of the currently 39th ranked Texas Longhorns.
