  1. Like so many of you here, I have a super sweet set up at home. TV is big, sound system is great, I have a kick ass grill and smoker that gives me better food and a fridge that is full of better beer. I invite a couple friends over and we are going to have an amazing day for $40. The game day experience is fantastic, and I want that at least once a year. But my at home experience is every bit as good (in a different way). I think this is the number one problem for stadiums going forward and I don't see any way for them to fix it.
  2. One main difference was that Nebraska fans would often buy those season tickets to go to the game. I doubt many Oregon fans are buying Nebraska season tickets to see that one game.
  3. I can't shake this feeling that this all falls apart by signing day. Wish I was more optimistic, I just can't shake that feeling.
  4. When we first joined the Big Ten, the conversation was that we were going to kick the league and the backside. It would appear that we did not do that but that Michigan is now.
  5. I thought the defense looked like a dumpster fire early on. By the end of the year, I thought they played an exciting aggressive form of defense. High risk high reward, but they were hitting harder, playing faster, and seemed a lot less passive than not only the early season defense but also our last couple seasons of defense. I don't know that the stats show that--but to my untrained eye I see reason to feel good about this unit and how it will improve as they get used to the system and recruit to the system.
  6. Tommy wouldn't start at a top 10 program that throws the ball 45 times a game...but he could probably start for a run heavy, spread option team and look pretty good. He has made mistakes but who knows what he would be doing in an offense built for him.
  7. Because their second option wasn't a good one. You better believe they wanted to...just didn't have another option. We saw that against Purdue. Now you could argue they should be developing another option, but that is a different thread.
  8. The thing is... He wasn't wrong. He was just an a-hole. It was a terrible call, but how can a guy who is getting paid that well not realize that he is hurting himself and his team. Bo is so competitive, you would think that part of him would overrule his temper. The best strategic move is to stay calm. still, I find myself cheering for him, not against him. And this is a guy who wanted him fired.
  9. wow. that the quote is from a Michigan State player makes it that much better. Nice work video people.
  10. Lots of good names thrown out there. I get that this is more about passing, but Crouch will get the vote from me. Dude threw 10 guys on his back and carried them. I believe you could put him on this team. Tell him to run MR offense and we would have a 10 win season. He was tough as anyone in red and white during my time watching Nebraska football.
  11. This could be the worst husker season, uh, ever? THAT'S epic. Epically bad. And how does that adversely affect your personal life? Years of shoddy recruiting have lead us to this point in time. We have some talent on this team and it's almost all on the first team. Look what happens when a starter goes down. Fyfe came in today and threw for almost 400 yards but he also threw 4 interceptions and had several other passes almost picked off. There is a pretty big gap between most of our starters and their backups. There are lots of reasons why the Huskers are 3-6 so far this season, part of that is on the coaches, even Riley agrees with that. This program needs to be rebuilt, years of neglect and abuse have caught up.
  12. For this thread-- where is this team if we we a zone read/option offense with play action pass. Same team, same talent, same coaches. Same dumpster fire of a defense. The only thing different is MR made the decision that we would have a running qb, who would run zone read/option with janovich and newby while throwing play action to DPE and Westercamp. How many points is that worth in these close games?
  13. I know you guys are not serious about a coach change three games in, and this is a general comment, not reflective of this coaching staff, or the last. When I look myself in the mirror and get honest, I would totally love winning 9 games a year running a triple option offense. There, I said it and feel better now.
  14. I feel a bit like an old-timer, but watching Georgia Tech run the tiple option and score big points is a lot of fun. Obviously, nebraska is not going in that direction...but watching this offense run well is good for the soul. It reminds me of a lot of good Saturdays in Lincoln. And get off my lawn.
  15. Should they replace their staff? -serious question--
  16. I have felt a little down with this hire, but what you wrote here is exactly what I would want from a coach.
  17. I don't think those people are really done... but I think I can relate to those that feel like they have been punched in the gut repeatedly only to feel like things might be looking up... only to feel like they got punched twice as hard. I hope it works out, and people far smarter than me must think this was their best option...but it is difficult to see this playing out in an amazing way. If nothing else, it is going to be a real challenge to keep this team together and this recruiting class together. No matter how he coaches, that would make this a 4 year rebuilding process.
  18. Easy there kernel. Let's be careful with the rational, well thought out posts. Nobody has time for that.

  20. IF Bielema really was targeted and he really did decline then this day just went from really promising (tressel/frost) to downright scary. If we are already that far down the list and are still getting turned down...ouch.
  21. If we were to stay with Bo, what would it take to make Nebraska successful? (if you want to fire bo, great...for this thread just pretend you have to go with bo--what would you do) try to keep it serious and without flames...
  22. Money doesn't fix everything--but it can fix a lot of things. It is also one of the few things in college football that you have direct control over that makes you a better team than another team. Go hire the absolute best coaches available. Million dollars a coordinator? fine. 1.5? fine. It is worth it if you have the best. Then, get out of their way and let them do their job.
  23. ok, I get it. the team isn't better 7 years later. so, boycott the game of a 8-2 team because you are pissed? I'm not saying you have to go. don't go if you don't want to... but for anyone to suggest that what we need is for fans to not show up so we can get the change we deserve seem premature to me. Note--I'm not saying keep bo no matter what. I'm saying that many of these posts are pre-mature. Let's say the "fire him now...we know what we are getting" side is right. What bonus do you get for saying it now? why not let the season play out. Maybe you even let an additional season play out? another 10-4 season? Is that the worst thing that can happen to Nebraska football? Let's say that camp is wrong and this staff needs a little more time. What are you possibly giving up to make this change happen a little sooner? Could this staff get better? Does a coordinator change or an emphasis on a different part of the game (O-Line) reap rewards?
  24. This is ridiculous. The team has lost two freaking games. That doesn't mean you should be happy about the Huskers getting demolished by the two good teams they played but get a grip. If they tank the next two then grab some pitch forks--but there is no bonus for being the first to this party. Why not wait until this season is over and reflect rather than make a rush to judgement. And for all of you "it has been 7 years" people. Shoot, you never got better a something after 7 years? I'm a better dad than I was 7 years ago, better husband too. Better at my job as well... I'm not saying you should just take it and live with it. I am not lowering my standards. I'm just saying that there is a time and place. In my opinion this isn't it.
  25. Man, I have heard enough about the SEC to last me a life time. Part of me hopes the south just falls into the ocean-- But... this graph isn't a real problem for me. The SEC currently has the most interesting stuff to talk about. They had more interesting matchups (that may or may not be changing in the weeks ahead) and more schools in the top 5. If the Big 10 had 4 teams in the top 5, I bet that graph would be heavy big 10. I know it is fun to say that ESPN hates on Nebraska, but back in the 90's when we were kicking ass and had a national following, they made it a point to talk about Nebraska on every college football show. Even when Nebraska didn't have anything particularly interesting happening. Now it is the SEC's turn. In 5 years I suspect it will be the PAC12 but who knows...
