Ther team is not too far away form physically competing, but the team's mindset is fragile and fairly weak. They were starry-eyed and confused to begin the game last night, no focus or intensity. The intimidation factor was huge. Once the carnage of the first quarter was over, they relaxed and actually didn't play too badly. The pressure was off, and they were (unfortunately) in their comfort zone. This is not something you teach or coach, it is something you recruit. Like I have said before, Pelini needs football players, not athletes in football uniforms.

It's been this way for years...this is how "rivalries" should be, although we don't play every year now.

Don't complain about their starters being in, it's only the third quarter...oh, look! another turnover. Mental toughness is definately lacking. This is men against boys, Marines against Army... Semper Fi, Army Husker!!

This team is not emotionally or mentally ready to be any kind of contender. They're not bad athletes, they simply don't believe they belong in games like this. During the first quarter, their eyes were like saucers. Fear and confusion. They are playing better right now, but the pressure is off. They know the game is over. Bo needs to find tough-minded, set-jawed football players. Not great athletes in football uniforms, but hard-nosed football players that want to kick someone's butt. Helu fits that mold. That attitude is not something you teach, but is a personality trait. It'll happen...just give it some time.

It's only the second quarter. It's up to us to stop them... Bo needs to find some football players, not just some athletes in football uniforms. Need more Helu's... I'll bet Slauson's makeup doesn't scare their defensive line very much... I need more booze!

It's not just O'Hanlon. They are all wide-eyed, they're scared. They don't believe that they had a chance, so they don't. Pelini needs to start playing guys until he finds some football players, not just some guys who are athletes in football uniforms.

Neither Ganz or Daniel will probably play, although some team will probably take a flyer on them in the late rounds. Everybody knows that Josh Freeman from K-State (6-5, 260) is the best NFL prospect. No bull, that's what they are saying. Josh Freeman?

This is what I see, too. I've watched a lot of games from a lot of different conferences and the officiating is consistently inconsistent. I don't know if it is all of the rule changes, or what the points of emphasis are, or if there are a lot of inexperienced officials. There have been a lot of games where one team will be heavily penalized where their opponent has few, yet their play is about the same. Hmmm... By the way, what ever happened to the "catchable ball" interpretation? I have seen time after time where the ball isn't within 15 feet of the receiver and some ticky-tack interference penalty is called. Offensive pass interference and picks are never called. If they were, the spread offense would go the way of the single wing.

Yes, he has fumbled some, but I have also seen him on a number of occasions knock the defenders right on their ass. The coaches know about it and will work on it. He'll be okay... I know this...given the choice of having to tackle any of our running backs, it would not be him!

The guy is a real football player, not just an athlete in a football uniform. We need about another 70 guys just like him. That is the difference between the Devaney/Osborne/Solich players and the Callahan players, although the Callahan players are picking it up. Keep up the good work, guys!! We know some of you read this, and we're really happy with the way your're playing.

Amen to that, brother...our sympathies to Coach Prince and his family. It puts the game in perspective.

With the Big XII the way it is, and NCAA football the way it is, there is almost no such thing as a gimmee anymore. Maybe in a year or so...

Actually, Lil Red is the official mascot. Herbie was banished until a couple of years ago, when he was brought back only by popular demand. Like the red Fairbury Franks in the stands. Lil Red is for the kids? Oh, come on...what is the percentage of preschool kids in the stadium? Even normal 8 year olds think he is a flamer.

Who wants to look like Texas? Texas SUCKS! Nebraska in all white uniforms looks like Wisconsin, don't cha know? We can serve cheese and sauerkraut in the stands... With all of the talk about going back to our traditions and our roots, shouldn't we look the part in our traditional red/white, white/red? We suffered through the all-whites as an experiment in 1992. After the loss to Iowa State, Ozzy crapcanned that idea for the rest of his tenure.
