  1. So saying he should be murdered and not standing for a song are equal? Man, people are idiotic, especially when they are protected by anonymity. Yes. MRI is going to be a target of hate. But as a supportive husker fan, I can not appologize for these people, as I have no influence over them. The only thing I can do is encourage him. I respect his right to protest. I see nothing wrong with what he did. I encourage him to ignore the hate. The world is full of bad people and the more interactions you have, the more likely you'll run into them. And yes, challenging these groups is going to have them come out in droves. With that said, I think he should be careful about the message that he conveys. It feels like he is creating stereotypes with his statements, which is counter-intuitive.
  2. The unfortunate aspect of this article and these protest is that it creates an image for the profile of a husker fan, and that image is not good. Husker fans are racist, biggoted a$$hole$ who attack their players. We all know that is not a good representation of our fan-base. Attacking stereotypes with more stereotypes doesn't seem to be the answer.
  3. @KirkHerbstreit/status/780261403747840000 The guy took a jab at him and Kirk swung back. He's a pretty good analyst.
  4. When was our last meaningful season? And I agree with him.
  5. Hi we are Nebraska. We fired the guy that went: 9-4 10-4 10-4 9-4 10-4 9-4 9-3 What did you expect? Also zero conference championships in that timeline. Kind of the difference between 9-4 and 11-2
  6. That's kind of how college football goes, no? Every win matters and sometimes you go out and drop games that you shouldn't have. Maybe you weren't prepared. Maybe you made some costly mistakes. Maybe you just couldn't get things rolling. That's the crazy thing about football at this level. You see rock-paper-scissors all the time.
  7. Nope. No way in hell. Bo Pelini was an amazing DC for LSU, but has proven that is incapable of being a head coach.
  8. This seems off-topic for this forum. My .02 is that is that if all these guys are doing is to kneel during the national anthem, then I guess. If you feel it's disrespectful or whatever, then fine. But it's literally the most non-violent, non-intrusive form of protest I've ever heard of. Regardless of what you believe, talking about it exactly the point of a protest, and they have suceeded at that. In terms of sh#t that matters in your life, this should be of the least important to you. If you disagree with why they are protesting, then ignore it. Being a keyboard warrior on the internet doesn't really prove anything.
  9. Are you saying we always fill Evanston or Bloomington, because NU hasn't played at Indiana since joining the Big Ten? Evanston
  10. We always fill that stadium. A lot of husker fans end up in Chicago for work.
  11. It is my opinion that Wisconsin will be the turning point for the fans of this program. We have an extremely easy first 7 games with Oregon being the toughest despite proving that they're not that good. Their defense is stout and well matched against our offense in that they force mistakes. Our defense is soft and hasn't played against a well oiled offense yet. We are 2015 Iowa until game 8. We've proven that we can beat overrated opponents and nobodies. Can we beat Wisconsin? Sure. That's college football. Any team can beat any team on any Saturday. But I don't like our odds. I think we will drop games against Wisconsin and tOSU. I think we win the rest including Iowa.
  12. It'd be nice not to be reminded that we haven't won a conf championship since 1999 every time I go to the game.
  13. Really? You wouldn't trade 5-6, 8-4, 9-5, 5-7, 9-4, 10-4, 10-4, 9-4, 10-4, 9-4, 9-4, 6-7 with no top 10 finishes, no major bowl appearances, no major bowl wins, no conference championships, and no national championships, for 8-4, 10-2, 12-1, 11-2, 10-3, 11-2, 12-1, 6-7, 12-0, 12-2, 14-1, 12-1 with 9 top 10 finishes, 7 major bowl appearances, 5 major bowl wins, 5 conference championships, 3 national championship appearances and 1 national championship? Is that what I said? I said I wouldn't trade our achievements for theirs. I didn't say I wouldn't trade the past 13 years. Did the two teams come into being in 2003? OSU has never had a run like the one we had, which I lived through and was cognizant of. So of course I wouldn't trade our achievements for theirs. I hate to defend tOSU here, but yes they have and currently are. Their last 15 years are very comparable to our run, and honestly, I think they would have went undefeated in 2012. But regardless.. I don't agree with that. National championships matter. Almost doesn't count. They've had 2 in that span, and one of those was with a loss. Alabama has had a run like ours (and arguably better). OSU has not, yet. If in 5 years they've won 1-2 more NC then there's an argument. I wouldn't trade our achievements for theirs. Their achievements in the recent are what is going to keep them atop of where NU wants to be. You can keep sticking to your guns but again. OSU is the superior program. More national titles, higher winning percentage overall. There's really no argument about "achievement". NU has more WINS, but has a 40 games played lead on OSU. OSU > NU OSU also has a coach that every kid would at least give some thought about playing for because of his name alone. NU doesn't. OSU is in a hotbed for recruiting. NU isn't. It's not that it isn't close, but c'mon you're acting like OSU has nothing on NU when it's actually the other way around. This has nothing to do with Oregon so lets not deflect either. You're not talking about the same thing Moraine is. How am I not? OSU achievements are > NU's Nebraska has more conference titles, and more legitimate (aka not tied garbage in the 40's) national titles. They've had more recent success (alot of it due to dominating a crap B1G), but that doesn't make them better overall. If you go over the entire program histories, they're roughly on par with no distinct gap. Just to play devil's advocate here, I don't think the B1G is any worse than the Big 8/12 were through the TO era. You also have to keep in mind this is a different age of football where even the FCS schools have top level training facilities.
  14. I honestly don't think we played that well that game. Capitalizing on Oregon's mistakes was the main reason we won, in my eyes, and honestly there is nothing wrong with that. I'm not saying Oregon is a better team, but if that game was played 10 times, I'd expect us to win half and them to win half. Both teams looked extremely run down at the end of that game. It was a good game and a good win.
  15. 16. Well unless we switch back to the format of not having a CCG, then sure. We can just win the conference. As of now, the only way to win the conference is to win the CCG.
  17. I touched on this in another thread. As Nebraska fans, we have high expectations. From 1960?-2001, we had the expectation to win every CCG and had a pretty good success rate. 15 years of extremely sub-par performances have not changed this expectation. We have a point in our history where we were among the greats and by contention the greatest. Arguing turning points is stupid. It's like arguing turning points in a game, but on a much more massive scale. Everyone is going to have a different opinion. Besides all that, it's completely based on hindsight. And worse, it's taking hindsight and setting a vision for the future. You can focus on the micro, or you can focus on the macro. I'd rather focus on the micro. Let's just keep winning games. Because in the simplest form, winning games makes me happy.
  18. Viewpoint of an Ohio State fan within the comments section My Thoughts? Yeah, we're not back. Can't compare winning 3 games (or even going undefeated this season) as being back. Iowa went undefeated last year in the regular season... They still are most irrelevant. We're not back. After a decade of 90% participation in the CCG and 4-5 dates added to memorial stadium under Conference champions and a one or two national titles, then we are back. But we're winning. So that's nice (Y)
  19. Michigan State. 2012. A lot of sh#t talking. Watched the Michigan State defense swing at Nebraska fans who were just leaving the packed bar.Like I said...never seen it. Not one thing, nothing. Not a mean word, not a nasty glare nothing at all. I sort of have a hard time believing that the "MSU defense" took a swing at some Husker fans at a bar. Even if that did happen, doesn't it sound fishy? Like...that there might be more to it? What does sh#t talking mean? Like, what does that include? There is a bar at MSU that has a row of steps to the front door. The bar was over capacity and we were leaving. Another group of husker fans were leaving at the same time. As we were leaving, players from the MSU defense were waiting to get inside the bar. As we walked out, they were saying sh#t like "f#*k Nebraska" and talking about how the refs threw the game. We were literally surrounded by over a dozen D1 athletes as we wore husker gear. One of the MSU cbs swung at a guy in the group in front of us and stopped an inch from his face. The guy just kept walking. I didn't hear him say a word and quite honestly, he would've been an idiot to say anything in that situation. Not my first run in with mean fans. Every CU game involved students spitting on us and throwing sh#t at us when we left the stadium. Mizzou does not have nice fans either. Just cuz you haven't experienced doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Just means you are naive. how did you know they were may players and specifically one of the cb's? I have a hard enough time placing who the Nebraska players are, can't imagine being able to pick out many opposing teams players Because I was with my cousin and his friends who were MSU students and that is who they said it was? I'm not saying there are not a$$hole$ in Nebraska's fanbase. I'm sure other fans have some horror stories about Nebraska. I've witnessed a$$hole$ at UNL tailgates before. They definitely exist. I'm just telling you about an experience I had with MSU in 2012.

  21. He was a little banged up on Saturday, especially at the end of the game. As others have said, it's not his raw speed but rather the amount of momentum he brings. TMart was much faster but he didn't have the YAC that you see with Tommy.
  22. Next year is going to be rough. And yes, we'll miss having a dual threat QB. That is our identity. Tommy Frazier, Turner Gill, Scott Frost, Eric Crouch. First and foremost, we like to win. But next on that list is we like to see a dominant run game, which includes seeing our QB run for 200+ yards a game. You guys remember Joe Ganz and Zac Taylor? Those guys were studs. But they were tarnished by the Callahan Era. We have the most nostalgic fan base, and part of the nostalgia is a running QB.

  24. Way to be a negative nancy. Seriously, just keep those thoughts to yourself.
  25. It's actually more important. Non-conference games are for the most part irrelevant. It was important for us in terms of establishing our identity and gaining confidence in the program, but the season actually starts next week.
