  1. Spent the last half of the aTm game talkng to some Aggie fans, had a great time. Welcome aboard, have fun..... One thing your yell leaders are cool and all (and steeped in tradation) but how about some cheerleaders I mean nothing is better.....
  2. It would of killed him by now, he had heart problems his entire life. The job was killing him, I think he would of stayed but he even said if he did they would be taking him out feet first.... Think there was more going on there then we will know.... AD will work out just fine for him.
  3. I would say NU is and Elite job now. Four years ago it wasnt, with TOs prints on everything, and 9 and 3 coach being fired and Puds additude, who would want to come here. Now four years on, the fans have calmed down from thinking 10 - 3 every year to lets get it going the right direction. NU still has clout and with the house burnt down there is only one way to go. I think more people than we will ever know want to come here...
  4. Supposed to be working and what do i do sit here and vote... Supposed to be sleeping but here I am voting... Can we get this pinned for the next week or so to keep it on everyones mind kinda gets flushed to the bottom every now and then.....
  5. No body knows crap about anything... We all thought Cally was gone from day one, now we find out that the coditions to keep his job were very fair. The information control in the Athletic Dept. is amazing (and a testiment to T.O.). We can sit here and speculate (i know i have) but when they want us to know we will know. Any stories that come out (i.e. Bo has been contacted) are coming from the person in question. We all just need to sit back and have a beer... IMO
  6. I think Buffet only gives to the academic side of the university. He likes the Huskers but dosent give huge amounts of money to the program. Although Berk. has (had?) seats on the 50 a few years ago.
  7. Like I said to give the name would'nt be good for my friend, and as I also said belive or not. Could as easily be BS as true, that is why its called a rumor.
  8. Like I said take it or leave it. I don't know why T.O. would give that much info to B.C. either but who knows, I hope it's not true as I am a Bo guy, but just thought I would let everyone know what I heard.
  9. A friend of mine knows the Callahan's, I can't say how as this would expose him, so belive or not, anyway, she told my friend that, Bill knows he is out (and has removed most of his stuff from his office) Turner Gill is the next HC. Bill has interviews with other programs set up and will spend sometime going around the US interviewing. There was some other personel stuff about the family but don't think this is the time or place. Like I said I cant tell you who or how, belive it or not. Happy Thanksgiving and GBR
  10. Great post. And no the fans won't recover. Ever. They want it to be the 90's again. We all know college football in the year 2007 is not in anyway, shape or form like it was inthe 90's. We are not special in the College Football world any longer. Haven't been for a very long time. We, as fans, are just so unrelenting and demanding with our expectations. We demand success now, right now and pout and call the coaches names when we don't get we want, when we want it. Yes, we expect a good/great football team however, we are not entitled to one. We are not entitled to anything. We are just another D1 football program whose fans base happens to think Nebraska is 'special'. We're not. I've said it before...we are not entitled to ANYTHING other than to support the team, support the University. That's it. AND we, as Huskers fans, are very poor losers. That's for sure. I know I'll catch hell for this but don't care. It's just football people...there are bigger things going on. I think most people realize that the 90s will never return (Iknow some don't). But why should'nt we think we are special? Do you think ISU fans think "well 5 and 7 is ok that what we should have" No they want to win. I think our team should win every game. That is what being a fan is, even in the face of certain doom you still stand up and say were number 1. The great thing about college ball is sometimes the worst beats best, that is why we are here, and at every game to see something special in our team.
  11. I love it, one a$$ out of what 1.5million or more makes a stupid phone call, and it's "we all suck how dare any of you call your selves the best fans in the nation". Of all the games I went to this year I never heard one boo, I cheered for our team in the tunnel after aTm, did any of you? A lot of people here need to get off there high horse and calm down. I havent heard one thing said at a game that is any worse than posts on here, and NONE of it towards the players. This retard made a really stupid mistake and I hope he pays for it. But most people outside of this state don't know or care about Nebraska Football, the fans havent embarressed the state, most people think we are stupid for running around the world in our Husker gear. Even fans of college ball could care less, they care about the top 10 or 15 teams and thats it. We still have the best fans in the Nation, almost 300 sell outs, every visiting fan I talk to raves about how they love coming to Lincoln. There will always be someone who takes it to far. People (Cosgrove included) know that it is just a tiny fraction of people that do this, and the rest are just loyal fans... I don't know just my thoughts.....
  12. Wow, a little hate filled. People like Gill because he knows what husker football means, beyond the game. The way you carry yourself and to respect the history of it. We didnt get that with B.C. I think that is more Petersons fault than Bills, but he should of figured it out if he is so smart. Bo seems to get what college ball means, and there were many reports that his family loved being in Lincoln, and I think he would be a good fit at this time, a little rough around the collar, more like Devany less like T.O. IMO
  13. Chill out dude. This is the 'Rumorville' section of the board. If you don't want to hear about it, don't come to this section. I understand it is rumorville, I just want some people to use a filter when posting or starting a thread. Think about what you have been told. One of these had the night cleaning people putting shreaded documents back together, please thats just nuts. I like the rumors but people are just getting crazy with this stuff... just my thoughts....
  14. IF it's B.P. I almost want him to come straight away and start working with the team for the Bowl game. He could be the DC for one game. Lets give him a chance to prove whats hes got... If that D came out on fire and REALLY played good D Husker Nation would go wild, keep watson as OC and let BO pull the trigger on the future. Wow got goose bumps just thinkng about it, is that normal?
  15. There is no way T.O. is directly talking to anyone, someone posted an article about the secret ways this is done nowadays.... There has to be a buffer for us and the people we are talking to... T.O. would NOT tell anyone outside of a very small group of people anything about this... It just gets old hearing about it... I know everyone wants to hear something but take a step back and calm down.. I know if you throw enough darts sometime you will get a Bulls eye, but this is just another version of the Bo flew into Lincoln story....
  16. C'mon though, that was a good one...lol That was freaking funny man..
  17. Wow thats harsh... I am sick of these threads also, but that was uncalled for
  18. How'd you know my name was Bubba? I uh, didn't know your name was bubba. I just like that name, that's all. OK Man, this is a negotiation and I'm willing to give on certian things. Maybe we should re-structure this agreement to read more like: Base Salary is $x. If you win 6 - 8 games in regular season play, you get paid $x much. If you win 9+ games in regular season you get an additional $x. If you win big 12 title game $x bonus. Bowl game bonus if not result of big 12 title game $x National Championship bonus $x. The conversations ensuing prior to any offer made, the candidate should be made very aware that the expectations of the Athletic Department, University, Student Athletes, Alumni, Boosters and the fans in general that worst case scenerio we go 9 - 3 and go to a bowl game. Best case we win the national championship. Anywhere in between you're doing OK. Anything less than that and investigations and inquires are going to be made as well as a thourough performance evaluation, hint hint. (I'm not saying wack him right away, but work is going to be awfully uncomfortable unitl he rights the ship). I assume that we agree on principle about rebuilding of walk-on program, recruiting on skill positions, behaviour during press interviews and strength and conditioning programs?? Also, I have to point out that in the business world, pay and tenure of job are very often tied to performance objectives. I'm in sales, and if I don't hit my number I don't keep my job. CEO's contracts are very often tied to things like stock price, Price/Earnings ratio, EBITDA, etc... etc... We do it in big business where CEO's get paid millions of dollars a year, I don't see why it can't be applied to sports coaching jobs where they get paid millions of dollars a year. Do you think it's easier for a CEO to control stock price in a bad year than it is for a coach to control egress of players to NFL, injuries, loss of coaching staff, etc...? No coach is ever going to be perfect, but there needs to be some teeth in the contract where we can protect ourselves and have an out if we need it. I'd like to have a coach who has got the guts to agree to something difficult and exceed expectations. I want a tiger who is all full of piss and vinegar, who'll motivate the players and be a good ambassador for the university. Now I can agree with this. I think incentives are a better motivator that reprimandations. That would also be attractive to candidates. But it's no problem with a coach being told what expectations are and really a coach coming here would probably know that anyway. But basing a whole coaching job solely on wins/losses I don't think is an option because too much can happen to ruin seasons. Good talk. Bubba FYI guys this is already in the contracts to some degree. BC has a base of ~1.75 mil, depending on how the season turns out he can get up to 450,000 more (for NC i think). we are giving him a HUGE motivator to win and win BIG, I assume this was true with Solich and who ever takes over from BC..... GBR some info about contract http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3003879 read the entire story funny the comments about him..... GBR
  19. That's it. They wouldn't even bothering to put out a release for clarification if the axe wasn't falling after Colorado. I think this also says- there is a coach in the wings and they want to shore up the recruiting class ASAP... Don't know about the coach.... If something was going on I think there would be stuff coming out of the programs of the people that we are lookng at.... Maybe they can keep a lid on it but who knows, look at when Peterson was canned the boards were going crazy the night before and there was talk all over the news, I would think the same would be happing now, just my thoughts......
  20. I don't think any coach would sign a contract that put a stipulation on number of wins by when. Agreed there is no way a coach would go for this, and the way he has it if you win 5 in your first year you out also. you would have to pay millions a year to even try this, and we would be the worst team in the nation with this....
  21. Why do you think Pelini would jet for the NFL? I've heard this before, and I'm just curious what about him makes you think he'd jet for the NFL. I've heard the same thing about Meyers. I have no idea what Meyers will eventually do, but I can't think many/any NFL owners are salivating at the thought of a spread option in the NFL. After looking at some of the most recent busts from the NFL, I would assume most in the college game would prefer to stay in the college game. With Spurrier, Saban, maybe Petrino, etc. all flopping; I would find it interesting that many/any college coaches would want to jump into that fire. I agree, most of the guys that go don't do to well. Here is my thought process, Bo came from Greenbay to be a DC (promotion) got shafted by Pud, and moved to LSU (With OU stop over). Now there is a very big chance he will be a HC in the next year or two (promotion). Will he excel as a HC? Only time will tell, but this guy is young and driven. The new breed of coach wnats to be at the top and that is the NFL. It might take 10 years for him to get there but I just think he will go if given the chance. Also I know I should'nt say anyhting but Bo didnt fly into Lincoln (that was a cover) I went down and drove him here and back, even though I have no ties with the program, TO picked me, and Bo told me he want s to coach pro . In the end I guess I have seen him jump ship (forced in our case) and just wonder what his intenions are, but I guess this is how it works when you dont have a system like we had for so many years.
