  1. We don't necessarily need a Nebraska legacy guy to come in and be HC. If a guy like Jim Grobe or Brian Kelley were hired, I would like to see at least one or two assistants with NU ties, like Scott Frost, Jimmy Williams, Sanders, Wistrom. What is more important is that the new coach understands and respects Nebraska football, its importance, its unique-ness, its tradition, and embraces them. That is something that Callllllahan never did.
  2. Spread option seems to be the most popular, and Dr. Tom likes it. I think he wants to get someone in there who knows how to be punishing, how to punch other teams in the gut, kick them in the teeth.
  3. He should have been hired in 2004. He would have brought his son, and kept Pelini.
  4. The Omaha World Hearld reported that Barry Alvarez would be interested in being the AD/HC if offered. I think that Barry did some nice things at Wisconsin, but I'm not overwhelmed by him. He is getting old, wouldn't be a HC for long, and may keep "old friends" around like Cosgrave. If NU is looking for an aging, legacy coach, why not get Monte Kiffin. If he would have been hired 4 years ago (like he should have been), Lane and Bo Pelini would likely be assistants here still, and we never would have had 2 losing seasons. Thoughts?
  5. And those stats include 2 OT games that went 3 OTs (both losses). That's about 20 points extra per game. And they play in the best conference in the country. The don't have to deal with the ISU's, KSU's, CU's, and Baylor's.
  6. I think that Bo Ruud did everything in his power to undo the coaching staff. Since he was a legacy player, and since his family practically run the boosters, he could not be benched. He took advantage of it, and followed some bad advice. He never offered leadership, even as a captain. If you disagree, then explain it. I'm dead serious about this. I've watched him at games and on film all season. You watch it, and tell me what you think. It was wicked, man. He walked through half of the plays. Uh, the guy was an All-Big 12 pick last year, and that "sabotage the coaching staff" was done in 2004. What's up with your unhealthy hatred of the Ruud's, did one of them kick your ass or steal your girlfriend? Let it go already.
  7. I have a reason to think he would lie. When he decided to run for congress he bought a house in Keith county so he could legally claim residence in the 3rd district. He lost his claim to sainthood with that nose stretcher. FYI, Dr. Tom has owned a house in the 3rd district ever since I can remember, which was the mid 80's.
  8. So you feel TO lied today when he said he set benchmarks for them. And if you don't feel he lied, then please explain to us the statement he made today. Maybe Dr. Tom knew that Calllllllahan had to go and set the benchmarks where failure was inevitable?
  9. Yeah, he was correct on McBride becoming interim head coach, and Callahan getting fired after the Texas game, and insert other prediction here. I will not apologize to some self-righteous prick if he backs his way into a correct prediction. If someone other than Pelini becomes coach, everyone who said he is going to be a coach owes me a beer. FYI, since you obviously don't understand, there could have been plans laid out but in negotiations, things fall apart sometimes like what junior4949 said. There was another board member who supposedly had inside info who posted similar information, maybe skersfan(?), and I heard similar stories from much more reputable sources than message board. Maybe in your life every single plan that you have made has come to be, but in the real world things don't work out and plans change sometimes. I personally believe that there is a level of truth to what this guy said and things didn't work out. Why should he come back, guys like you did nothing but berate him for every thing he said.
  10. Yes. He would do that. That's why he has blackballed the Husker team since Solich was fired, and that's why he's been working and waiting for the opportunity to get rid of Callahan. He is very, very close to the Ruud family, you know. The web is expansive. I can't wait for the book. It would not surprise me in the least. The ghost of Osborne haunts us still. Ah, I get it now. YOU ARE Bill Calllllllahan. Bill, just to let you know, Frank is a better coach than you, and he isn't coming back. Enjoy your $2 million paycheck and the one thing that a Nebraska coach hasn't enjoyed since you got here, the Christmas season to spend with your family rather than worrying about those pesky bowl games.
  11. You must not pay attention to much college football outside of Nebrasksa. The 3 coaches listed here are all thought of a great football guys and have turned programs around in positive ways, unlike Calllllllahan. I like the idea of Grobe as HC with Turner as assistant HC/OC, running a spread offense. Maybe bring Marvin Sanders back in as DC, Scott Frost as LB or DB coach. I think Jimmy Williams would be a good bet, too.
  12. Calllllllahan never should have been hired to begin with.
  13. Yawn! I think if Gruden ends up at Philly that is where Callahan will end. Also for the people that say he won't get another HC job look at Zook and Willingham they landed jobs the next year if I'm not mistaken. But they have had some level of success as head coaches. Calllllllahan is a bad coach and will only get a lower level job or a job with an old friend like Gruden.
  14. This is the best day in Husker football since early in 1998.
  15. What this season has taught me is that even with all the great traditions, a terrible coach can easily destroy an entire football program, twice, if 5 years.
  16. Dead wrong. Lucky will be very successful in the NFL. He's durable, has great hands, good speed, and he's smart. He'll do just fine. One who pretty much never breaks a tackle, falls down at first contact. Rushing for 1000 yards and has over 700 receiving yards. Other then that he always fell down on first contact. The guy had over 1700 freaking yards of total offense. What other NU back that had that many yards got put down as much as this guy? I'll give you a hint no of them. Some people will never be happy unless the RB is catching pitches on the option. Have you ever watched a Husker game do you or just spout off meaningless statistics? The offense has also average like 50 points a game over the last 4 games but we are 1-3. I heard on on radio program where they broke down Chamin's rushing statistics. Against top 50 defenses he averages just over 3 years per carry but against garbage defesnes he averages almost 6 per carry. He has nice hands, decent speed, is okay at picking up blitzes, but almost never breaks a tackle. I have NEVER seen a back fall down by so many ankle tackles as this guy has.

  18. I would lose all faith in Tom Osborne, I would burn all of my Husker memorabilia, and I would look for a new team to follow or just forget about college football all together.
  19. Good bye, Charmin Lucky. If Marlon makes an NFL team, he will be a 3rd down back at best.
  20. Kind of seems like it was his last backhanded slap at NU and it's traditions, like a surrender flag.
