  1. Bourbon - Blantons. Or for a lighter taste Basilhaydens. Scotch - Cardhu 12 or Oban 14 are both good. If you like a little harsher flavor (more peaty), try Laphroig.
  2. I don't think the bench numbers are that out of wack. It's really not that difficult to be a 275-300lb bench guy if you work at it. I coach ball at a smaller Class A school and we probably have 15 kids in that range and that's high school aged kids. Are some people lying? Maybe. But it's the internet and everything here is true, so I doubt it. The 40 times are probably skewed but people don't really have a very good reference point for those, so that's to be expected.
  3. Good thread, Teacher, I think the same thing every year. If you guys want to convert your high school 40 time to a Combine equivalent, just round up to the next tenth and add .24. so a 4.51 handheld rounds up to 4.6 and you add .24, making it a 4.84 FAT time. That's not exact science obviously, but if the guy with the stop watch is decent at all, it'll be pretty close. For me currently: Ht: 6'1" Wt: 297 Bench: 15ish (225 lbs) guess here, my 1 rep max is 330. 40: 6.5 Vert: 18" maybe
  4. They give disorderly house tickets that progressively get higher with each offense. They stick with the house, not the offender. The party goers just get kicked out, unless they're being idiots.
  5. Congrats Coach! I see Co-OC but what is your main group responsibility, OL, QBs, etc?
  6. Mass texting is a big. LPD has cracked down on House Parties so people don't really want it out in public that they are throwing a rager. Greek wise, they all have meetings every week where they announce where the parties are at and Social Chairs to ask if someone doesn't know, so they don't really need to send it out publicly.
  7. Brothers is definitely not a frat bar. Except when a member of one will randomly have a keg or two there. The Rail and The Bar on the other hand... On gameday, my order would be: 1. Sandys 2. Barrys 3. Docs 4. Main St., if it's not packed to capacity
  8. I've only played/recruited through 3 weeks of Dynasty, so from my limited experience... 1. I haven't really noticed a big difference in menu navigation. Not sure what the guy was talking about? 2. A couple of big things, first they added Scouting time. You can scout a player and his attributes might increase or decrease off of the expected level. To be honest, I'm not really sure how it affects things. I mean, if you don't scout them, I'm not sure if their ratings will change to the actual level after they commit or if scouting them gives you a possible bonus to their ratings. Secondly, every rating for your school changes weekly (playing time, play style, coach stability, etc.). Obviously, that can really help or really hurt you. 3. I haven't had a problem with the defense. As with any game in the series it takes a couple of games to get use to the tweaks and see what works best. I'd add that offensively, the passing is much improved and more realistic. Running the ball is very similar to 2012.
  9. A lot of the bars will be open at 6 am. Almost all will be open by 7. That's been my experience anyway.
  10. I agree with everything he said here. I don't coach youth ball (high school here) but I would definitely recommend a five man front. It makes it extremely hard on that 11 year old center to snap the ball knowing he's got a guy six inches away from him, ready to go. However, I would say that teaching the kids sound fundamentals and especially swarming to the football (as cliche as that sounds) is the best thing you can do for that age. Definitely take the time to teach the D-Linemen proper technique (leverage, hand placement, gap responsibility, etc.). A lot of times, youth coaches just tell them to get to the ball and in doing that, you kind of handicap half your defense. Obviously, the same goes for your Backers and Secondary but for some reason they tend to get coached up more on technique than the line.
  11. It's the difference of the face value of the student ticket ($23 I think) and the face value of a non student ticket ($55-65ish).
  12. As a current student and former ASUN Senator I can tell you that this situation is about the norm when it comes to decision-making at the University. They invite us to meetings and ask our opinions (which is great) but as soon as we don't agree *bam* it's not our choice to make. I think a lot of the uproar you have heard and will hear in the coming days is not based on the details of the plan but rather how this was communicated to the student leaders and then the students themselves. When it comes to the details themselves there isn't a whole lot of change. Sure we lose Section 15 (which is where I usually sit) but we gain seats in the transfer. Student section always was general admission it just wasn't explicitly stated. Supposedly no front row seats for paying students will be lost, only those for athletes and recruits. I think the biggest point of contention will be the loss of block seating. I can tell you that the Greek Community is up in arms about this. Its loss kills one of the great fraternity/sorority traditions at UNL, the Football Block. To respond to a couple comments about the student section itself... Where I sat in Section 15 the students stood on the concrete for the most part. I choose not to drink before games but a lot of my friends do. Some of my friends that do security have told me that usually less than 10 students are kicked out for unruly/alcohol related behavior (Out of 8,500). When it comes to standing the only time kids in my section ended up on the bleachers was 1) during a big play or 2) when someone was inside the 5 yard-line in our endzone. Any other time and security forced everyone down. I think you are simply more energetic when standing. Obviously this is not without exception, those of you on this message board are big enough fans to spend time out of your day actively discussing the Huskers so I'm sure you're just as effective sitting as standing. I do not, however, believe this true of an average fan. I had an injury this past fall which required me to stop and rest after walking more than a few blocks. I couldn't stand for more than 5 minutes at any given time. I was able to sit during timeouts/clock stoppages/between plays and still stand for every play this season (I understand everyone is different but it can be done). If you haven't guessed yet, yes I am against this change. I do not think anything can be done now but I still think the students should and will try.
  13. I was reading the local police blotter here in Fremont and it says LaTravis Washington of Bradenton, Florida pleaded guilty to Minor in Possession. I couldn't find it on the online edition but it was in the paper dated Wednesday, October 24th. Anyone hear anything about this?
  14. How many times was Tim Tebow stopped last year? Not trying to compare Ganz to Tebow athletically, but when it was 3rd/4th and short you knew he was coming in and where it was going to go. I don't remember seeing him stopped. There is a huge difference between knowing where they're going and being able to execute and stop it.
  15. Add me to the PM list as well please! Thank you for the info IBR.
