  1. Just makes me sick to see Iowa in the Top 10 for 2017 already with a 5 star D Lineman
  2. Would be a great get but tough to see us beating out Stanford. Won't get my hopes up for this one
  3. We're also not shy with who were offering. We are going after big fish and I love it!
  4. More of these types of athletes and this program can get back to an elite level. One won't do it, but it's a good start
  5. Compare this kid to Stanley Morgan. Stanley is all business and about getting better. Fitzpatrick is about being the center of attention. I'd take a million Stanley's over this guy. This staff seems like they want guys that act like men as well. I'm not feeling to bad about losing out on this kid. Sometimes drama outweighs talent
  6. That is poor attempt at starting a rumor. That move would make zero sense for all involved. Also, have heard "reports" that Richt will stay at GA in the athletic dept
  7. To be honest my father in law who is a fan of a different school texted and said exactly this
  8. Have always said I would love watching that offense each week. Efficient is an understatement
  9. He's not going anywhere http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/74656-qb-patrick-obrien-nebraska-commit/page-9
  10. Can honestly see TA graduating early and transferring somewhere for a 5th year of eligibility.
  11. You know what the "Greatest Fans in College Football" would do? Support their team even in the worst of times. Your poor antics will have no impact on the situation other than to makes this fan base look like all the other trashy fan bases who only cheer for a winner. I guess being a fan of one team means that your team won't win every game every season but that doesn't mean you can't support the guys wearing the jerseys. They are after all playing for Nebraska, the team you love
  12. I feel as though getting DPE back to his normal healthy self will infuse this team with a little bit of swagger and a possible big play threat that we have not had in 5 games yet this season. Just one big play in any of those 3 losses and it becomes a win
  13. The tough part for me is the schedule. If any year the schedule sets up best for us to win the West, it is this years schedule
  14. Maybe not if we finish 3-9 this season. Perlman will not fire this guy regardless of the record. Just stop. The donors to this program have more influence over these matters than you seem to realize. Agreed. Look at Texas. Patterson was there a just under two years
  15. I want to first preface this by saying I am a supporter of Nebraska and will continue to do so regardless of "who" the coach is. I will continue to support until I am told that there will be a change in leadership and then I will support the next guy. Mike Riley is our coach, he will be our coach until we are told he is not, and I will support him up until that point whether it is in retirement or via firing. Now, I was drawing some interesting comparisons between us and another "blue blood" that also happens to be in the B1G, Michigan. I see Michigan as a very similar university, athletic department, school, etc. as UNL. Now for their recent history, does any of this sound eerily similar... Rich Rod: Good coach from most accounts. Made very few friends while in Ann Arbor. Divided the fan base from those who believed him to be a good coach and those who were sick of his ego. Changed culture in several areas, left on bad terms. Brady Hoke: Loveable coach who you could root for. Was a good look for the university and by all accounts a good coach. Just wasn't elite, but it was hard for people to not root for him. Prior to his firing the AD, who by all accounts was very corporate by nature and worries mainly about money was fired. After this and a disastrous couple of seasons that weren't embarrassing but weren't up to Michigan standard Hoke is fired with people sad to see him not succeed. In comes the native son (to the university) QB who is a connection to the days of the Michigan Man. Hmm...sounds kinda familiar. (Please no one tell me there is a big experience difference between the last connection, I watch football. Just thought the similarities were interesting to say the least.)
  16. Oh, I think plenty of doubts -- when it comes to a certain definition of "greatness". A handful stand alone in that circle. It's not easy, and most programs will need to try a number of times to get someone even close to it. However, I think MR is the guy we needed in the worst way. Bo trashed Nebraska's reputation for years with his act. He made it out that Nebraska was some crazy dump nobody would want to go to, or coach at. And the scary thing is, both Husker fans and some nationally were ready to embrace the idea that Nebraska is the kind of place that needs to hang on to or go after any ass as long as they were halfway decent at coaching. Don't underestimate the value of a return to professionalism. If it doesn't work out, Riley will have a classy exit and a meaningful impact off the field. And Nebraska will try again. Plenty of blue blood programs have cycled through unimpressive (or worse) coaches in every way. We have one who, whether he wins or not, is otherwise as impressive as they come. However this story ends, that's something to be thankful for. Totally agree with everything you said. I would also pose a question to anyone saying that Mike Riley absolutely cannot/never will bring this program to prominence. Did you expect after 4 games this year to know that answer and since you don't see a "great" team you're ready to conclude that he cannot in fact make this program a contender?
  17. Me too. A lot of people may already know this but I heard last weekend from a pretty reliable source, THE ONLY reason he's not our current HC is bc the media announced it before it was ever actually official and he backed out. Thank you press! why would that cause him to back out? im not sure I buy that. Ive heard from many people in the know that he was offered, so I believe you there. If he wanted to coach at Nebraska, im not sure why a news story saying he might coach Nebraska would cause him to back out. There was a little more to the story that I'm a little fuzzy on bc of the day's activities but something that happened with the media before it was official was the primary reason he backed out Heard that he was offered the job, but the media reported it before Bert could make the announcement so he backed out. Apparently he's got that burr in his saddle. I wouldn't trust anything that comes out of the AD or chancellor's office. But you'd trust the media? Or Bielema? Or his agent? The timeline alone makes Riley the obvious first choice. No way was there time to meet, greet, discuss, etc. another coach and still get Riley hired in 4 days. I have always been enamored by those who have such terrible things to say about the people behind the scenes. There is so much information that they miss and are not aware of that their judgement are based purely surface level opinions
  18. Yeah, it's like when there are cows out in the corn field, and then the farmer harvests the corn, and then the cows go back in the field but it's not the same corn field cuz the corn is gone, Or something. What the hell does that even mean? And trust me, we are trying to field a team that plays like the '95 team did. There is a reason they are the best team in the history of College football though. It's cuz there hasn't been many teams like them. I was just poking fun at Sker4ever who seems to think if you change the carpet in your living room, it's no longer your living room. Technically, the comparison he was making was if you have carpet in your living room and you bang your gf on said carpet. Then you change your carpet, now that is no longer the same carpet you just banged your gf on. Technically, no. He said if you change the turf on the field, it's not the same field. He's wrong. It's still the same field. It just has new carpet. Well technically, we changed everything under it too. We took out the concrete, brought new dirt in, installed a kickass drain system and then put in new carpet. So.... Wait.....can we have an award for the dumbest argument on Huskerboard? Well of course we can. But, out of all the asshatery that has been spewed on this website, do you really think this is the dumbest one of all-time? lol It would deserve at least a nomination. People are actually debating if the 2015 team is playing on the same field as the 1995 team. I know it's tongue in cheek......at least I hope it is. My comment was based on a high level of sarcasm...which was taken too literal by people who are here only to argue
