  1. We still have five mythical national championships to their four. And three Heisman winners to their two. It's small comfort, but it's some comfort.
  2. Not sure where else this would go, so here is probably OK. Fact is, this is bunk, and some simple googling would have shown that to the writer(s) of this article. Not only has cancer been known about for thousands of years by physicians, but there are fossilized tumors in dinosaur bones. The very name "cancer" comes from tumors' resemblance to a crab, and is ancient Greek in origin.
  3. You really need to know the rules before you complain about a call. This applies to the game commentators as much as you. Eventually someone clued them in that the college rule is different than the pro. The whole issue is whether the ball breaks the plane or not. The player can be almost fully in the end zone as long as the ball doesn't break the plane. That said, the ball might've broken the plane, but we never saw that view. As for the Sirles hold, as he was toppling over backwards he grabbed the guy's jersey, enough to throw him off balance and fall. Blatant hold, and unless the guy was falling anyway, it was going to be a sack. You could call it a ticky-tack call because he didn't get much jersey or hold it long, but I don't see how anyone can say it wasn't a hold. I think a lot of the griping about that call is coming from the dozen or so pictures people have seen from the last 10-15 games where our D Line has holes ripped in their jerseys from holding that is never called.
  4. I think we'll lose at least one more October game. Too many areas in which to improve, too little evidence showing that we will.
  5. Sorry, I missed your post. My bad. +1 to you, too.
  6. The only part of our team that didn't play good enough to win was our WR corps. That's the simple bottom line.
  7. Martinez was not the problem this game. As has been brought up ad nauseum, had our WR corps simply caught the balls they were thrown, we're not having this conversation. A simple lack of execution on the part of our WRs doesn't mean we need to over-analyze the QB situation.
  8. Best line of the rankings: (Archer has Kansas ranked #13 in the Big 12)
  9. A couple of these might help... That's the spirit. Enjoy your win on the Texas boards, but commiserate with us over here.
  10. I think that was Corey McKeon, wasn't it? I know what you're talking about, where our crowd noise was messing up the defensive signal-calling. There is definitely a difference between our at-home play and on-the-road play, whatever the reason. Maybe it's our players' fat little girlfriends? Maybe we need to put Niles Paul in a tool shed for a while. Who knows.
  11. User was banned for this post. OK, not really, but the wound is still fresh. Couldn't you have posted us a beer or something to ease the pain?
  12. Fishbowls are always a good idea, even with the healthy dollop of shame that comes with them. The tools who go to Duffys... meh. There are tools everywhere.
  13. Once again, quality stuff. Even if the MS Paint stuff hurts my eyeballs. Where did you tailgate, Thujone? Also, your nym - is it two syllables, the first one rhymes with judge, second with own; or is it T Huge One?
  14. I would buy into that some if not for the fact that most of the guys starting now weren't here under Callahan's tenure.
  15. I'm just sick of hearing from Watson that Martinez is a good passer. Clearly he is not or we would have game-planned more passing. Unless it comes out that Martinez audibled out of called pass plays (which would warrant benching, since they would have been the wrong check), it's clear that they simply do not trust him to throw the ball. You do not run the same offense for five straight games, consisting of maybe a dozen plays, then face a Texas defense that has so much film on you that they may as well have a copy of your playbook, then run those same damned dozen plays over and over. It's asinine. They knew exactly what we were going to run, as well or better than Martinez, on every single play. THIS was Watson's failure - you cannot continue to do the same thing game after game after game and expect to win. Competent defenses will stop you. Hell, an incompetent defense (SDSU) largely stopped this offense. You simply CANNOT have a game like SDSU which gives your opponents a blueprint on how to shut you down, then go into the Texas game and run that same offense. The fact that some idiot schmoe like me sitting in my easy chair can figure that out means that Watson should have self-scouted this ages ago, and planned accordingly. If he didn't, Bo should have. The fact that they were unable or unwilling to change their plan makes me very concerned for the rest of this year. At this point 11-2 sounds like an unattainable goal, simply because of the offense we're capable of running, and the kinds of defenses we're likely to face.
  16. That's all the explanation you need. Nice piece of "professional" journalism you wrote there, Ivan. Bottom line, though, is that this article and the sentiments it contains are EXACTLY why we couldn't lose the game Saturday. Every college football fan in America has heard this angle since June - that Nebraska got pissed about Texas' win in the CCG and went to the Big 10. It doesn't matter how wrong or how stupid that sentiment is, that's the story that sold best, and people ate it up. Knowing this, you HAVE GOT TO win this game to stop this idea, because the way the Ivan Maisels of the ESPN world work, on-field results equal off-field realities. Had we won the game that line of reasoning would have stopped because we would have shown that we CAN beat Texas, that we weren't leaving in a snit because we can't beat them. Losing means this story line will live for another ten years, guaranteed. Every time we're near Texas in the rankings, every time it looks like we might play them in a bowl projection, this will come up. Again and again and again. This is why I'm most upset that we gave that game away. Not that it's an L in the W/L column. It's because we'll have to listen to this inane bullsh#t for the next ten years. It's only been two days and I'm already sick of it.
  17. If you look it up on Urban Dictionary it'll have some modern spin on it, something to do with World of Warcraft. "Gank" or "ganked" goes way back to the 1980s, and is an alternative for "messed" or "f*cked."
  18. It doesn't much matter what the refs call or don't call when you drop eight different passes, three of which could have gone for TDs. The referees are about #37 on the list of people/things/circumstances we could blame this loss on. They're so far down the list they shouldn't even be mentioned. That's how badly WE ganked this up.
  19. Please respond to the threads individually. Thank you.
  20. I think what AR is saying is that you should take the Board's silence on this issue as an answer, at least for now. We know you want this feature. Right now it is not a priority. If we can pull this off in the future we might, as the idea has not entirely been shelved. Thank you for your continued patience as we work through this process.
  21. We could very easily lose to both Oklahoma State and Missouri. It all depends on which team shows up. Will it be the Washington/KSU team, or the SDSU/Texas team? Flip a coin, ladies and gentlemen. That's the team we have this year. I have lost all confidence in our ability to win. I will not be shocked if we knock off the #1 team in all the land. That's what this team is. Buckle up.
  22. I have been meaning to post this for a while now. I cruised through this whole thread start to finish to see if anyone else had posted this. I'm glad I did so I didn't make a redundant post. As it is you get a +1 for being a super genius like Wile E. Coyote. I've been thinking about this tennis ball thing for a while now, ever since Niles started his dropsies. It's such an easy drill to set up, I can't imagine why we aren't doing this.
  23. We'll have to wait later in the season to see how this pans out. We've only played two conference games so far, which is too small of a sample size to go on. I think there have been several potential calls against Nebraska that were not called that could have been. If they had a vendetta against us, they could have called probably half a dozen more false-start calls and several more holds. We have also earned a lot of those penalties. We're not playing smart football a lot of the time. We need to take care of Nebraska first. This team seems to be focusing on too much outside of their control.
  24. Ha ha. I know you are just joking. But Minessota would need to hurry with that offer. The Gophers staff will all be out on the street again before the end of November. Coz helped get another whole staff of coaches fired. Cosgrove is the Typhoid Mary of college football coaches. Words cannot express my disappointment that he will not be there for our game next year. I so very much wanted to hang half a hundred on his ass.
