  1. This kind of nutrition information should be taught to every kid in school.
  2. We're having problems in this thread because everyone is using a different definition of what a "turning point" is. We need to narrow down the cliches better. Under Callahan, we were heading in the wrong direction. Firing Callahan helped stop the bleeding. Bringing in Bo changed the culture of the program. Bo's systems are a step in the right direction. Although we're heading in the right direction, we still have a long way to go.
  3. The Huskers are coming to Laramie in 2011. And yes I think its a little crazy that our AD was able to get a program like Nebraska in our stadium along with Texas coming to town this year. The 2011 game is just a pay it foward for 2013 and 2016 in Lincoln, we gotta leave home occasionally. Yep. And remember that Laramie is closer to a lot of western-Nebraska Husker fans than Lincoln, and probably FAR easier to get tickets. So they'll do what most everyone in the North does and sell two-for-one ticket packages for the game and get essentially two full stadiums out of one game. That's some decent cash for a small school like Wyoming, lots of fans in western Nebraska get to see the team, and we get another easy win. It's a "win" for everyone.
  4. It is catchy. I've been humming it since it was posted. I don't think it's meant to demean Nebraska. Even if it was, I'm not offended. We have a proud agricultural tradition here, and hog farming is part of it. I have no interest in nor ties to agriculture, but my grandfather and uncle farmed and I respected them both a great deal. If this is a "crack" at Nebraska... I've heard better. jayhawk, do they sing this before every home game? If so, it'd be pretty hard to call it a dig on Nebraska.
  5. Let's also not forget that Southern Miss returns the bulk of their offense, which set several school records last year. They can score, and Kansas' defense will be tested.
  6. sorry, i disagree with that observation, Ganz was the leader of the offense and he deserved to start every game, including some when Clownahan was here. Witt just got impatient, something (patience) Ganz learned early in his career. i will always respect Ganz for "hanging in"............. I'm not really sure what you're disagreeing with. I'm talking about getting the second-stringers some reps in-game, not whether Green should start over Zac. To make that point, I'm saying Witt (last year's #2) should have gotten some PT last year. I'm not saying anything about Witt's departure, or that Witt should have started. The #1's start, not the #2's.
  7. The main reason he was fired was the morale of the Athletic Dept. People were walking on egg shells at work, brought in an outside consultant, ruined the "family" feel of the department Yeah, I remember reading about that, but that doesn't mean he wasn't popular at one time, or with programs outside the front office. All I know is, there were some teams that weren't excited to see him go.
  8. I think we should have a poll of your Husker friends to see who won. I don't think you can just declare on your own. =)
  9. To my knowledge the Husker band doesn't use this song. If they do, a couple of friends and one relative of mine who were all in the band failed to mention it. Granted, they were all in the band in the 90s, so this could be a new thing. I've never heard of this song. Here are the lyrics for anyone interested: When it's hog calling time in Nebraska, When it's hog calling time in Nebraska, When it's hog calling time in Nebraska, Then it's hog calling time in Nebraska! One note - that band of yours can sing a tune. They sounded pretty good.
  10. That would explain the Sandler pic.
  11. He meant TO as in Terrell Owens, that is who called Jeff Garcia gay. Junior was replying to my post above his, and since he's right (what I said wasn't really addressing his point) I edited my post. Sorry for the confusion.
  12. Here's one. I'm not in to ink, but she's a nice looking woman. LINK (SFW)
  13. I don't know. I would have to say that if Green is the legit #2 then he's not redshirting. I can't imagine the coaches keeping him out if he can contribute. Then again, they barely played Witt last year and he should have gotten some reps as the #2, so who knows.
  14. I think most everyone has been pretty willing to take the LP bad with the good. Speaking for myself, I'm just done with the bad. We had him for three years, and we've been "paying for it" four times as long now. You have to wonder, when is it over? Thankfully it seems like we'll have only one more news cycle with LP - when he's actually sentenced. From then we won't hear about him for years and years, until he's released from prison. But if/when he's released, and they talk about "former NFL and Nebraska player Lawrence Phillips," at that point you would have to agree that it's too much, yes? Or is it never too much, and once he's been part of the program, it's OK to associate him with us 20, 30, 40 years later?
  15. This is correct. My understanding is that Compton suited up at least a couple of times last year but didn't get in the game, preserving his redshirt.
  16. Yeah. Nevermind me. Work boiling up to the frontal lobes, and I'm off this afternoon. Carry on. =)
  17. Message boarding is tough. Someone can always find something to counter any point. Any point. It's the jungle, that's what it is. I'm pretty much in agreement with all of this: I get the analogy of redshirting/leaving for the NFL. But no matter what any kid wants or whatever line they draw in the sand, the coach can always just not play them, so the coach has the final say in that. And then the kid can leave school, or go to the NFL, or whatever, but that's not (to me) an ability to determine if they redshirt or not. That's probably a semantic argument at that point, though. I don't know much about Green, but I gather he's a pretty good kid. I think if there's a potential for him to redshirt Bo and Green will talk about it before it's done. And it could be a situation where they say, "You're going to redshirt, but be ready. If Lee goes down, your redshirt is pulled, period." But being a good kid, I don't get the impression he's going to bolt for another school if Bo wants him to sit. I figure the same thing will happen with Green that happened with Compton and Cooper last year, with the caveat that QB is our thinnest position, whereas LB and WR were chock full of players we could get by with last year. And, this whole conversation could be completely academic if Green is so good he HAS to be played. Who knows - he could snatch the starting spot from ZLee before camp is over. Then all the brain waves we've spent talking about this will be for naught... but it's a good conversation to have nonetheless.
  18. I think we already knew that. The question is, how severe was the damage? Not all ACL's are the same. Do you know the exact extent of the injury he suffered in the Spring? How large was the tear, how much (if any) collateral damage there was, etc? EDIT after the fact - I'm not trying to bust your ####s here. I'm a layman in ACL injuries, and I'm just trying to figure this out. I get your point that nobody ever sees someone coming back from an ACL in three months. I'm just amazed that the medical staff, the off-site doctor (and I'm pretty sure I know who that is) and the coaches would put him on the field if he wasn't ready. It doesn't wash with a group of people who are, supposedly, dedicated to keeping these kids as healthy as possible.
  19. I think there's mixed feelings about Pedey across the landscape of NU athletics. From what I recall, several programs thought very well of him, including Volleyball, Basketball (both flavors) and the baseball team. Aside from the one COLOSSAL failure regarding the football program, I think he was regarded well around the U.
  20. Robsker, I get what you're saying and I'm not refuting that, but I would like to point out that college football is about 2x to 3x the money-maker that hoops is, and it's far more popular overall. And yes, Pederson landed on his feet, in a place where he's happy and where he's had success. Nothing wrong with that.
  21. Qvale is supposed to be this phenom, so maybe he is just that good. All it says is he's getting reps, not that he's locked down the #2 spot. That could mean someone ahead of him got dinged up and sat out a practice, too.
  22. They have a formula for balancing things out. It's not as skewed as you might think. Ok, I didn't really look to hard at the formula. I just saw that Pitt had hardly any teams included in this table of Fall and Winter Sports, only 4 or so, it has to play a part don't you think? The Director's Cup is a pretty big deal. I'm guessing it's not just some random bunch of numbers thrown together with little thought.
