  1. All of the above, sadly. It's important to note that the "Husker Power" we all grew up with is gone. When Callahan came in he brought in his own Strength & Conditioning coach, and just like everything else he changed, the change worked for the worse, not the better. Combine that with this joke of a defensive staff we have, and the staff-wide Pro-Style concept of no contact during weekly practices, and you have a recipe for disaster.

    LOL

It will take more than a year to put in a new system. The players that are playing now, will have to be deprogrammed and retrained in basic fundamentals. This is not a one year fix. Maybe it'll take two years. But it's not going to take another four, that's for sure. I can guarantee you that this team will be remarkably better with the same players simply by changing coaches. The bottom line of what I'm getting at is that it's not the players' fault. It's the coaches' fault. Getting new coaches will make a world of difference.
  3. Nebraska never "ran up the score" on Kansas, and they weren't "running up the score" on us. It's simply a matter of the defense being completely incapable of stopping their opponent. For 40 years it was Kansas. Now it's Nebraska. We've seen enough of this to know what's going on, Husker fans. Let's not let pride and sour grapes get in the way of a fine performance by Kansas and an equally poor performance by Nebraska.
  4. You're not remembering that game very well. We could only take a limited number of players on our travel squad. That game was a worse track meet than this one. We were up and down the field on the Gophers. We had our second string in sometime early in the second quarter, our third string in before half (what we could bring of them), and we kept our second and third units in until the fourth quarter, when we had to start bringing our first string back in because our other players were tired. I think we had like 7,000 yards of offense in that game (and that's only a slight exaggeration). The only reason we played any of our first string in the second half of that game was to give our backups rest. No lie.
  5. I'm pretty sure all sales are final. Sorry.

Come on, Doom & Gloomers! With the right coaching staff in place this team can seriously make a 180-degree turn in one season. We have a LOT of talent on the field. Do not blame the players for this coaching staff's inability to properly utilize them. You watch - next year, with the right coaching staff, this could be a scary good team.
  7. If anyone had told me we would score 24 points on Kansas in the first half, I'd have been ecstatic, and I would have expected to be very much in the game. I would love for Coach Osborne to - just this once - go back on his word and fire that abomination of a Defensive Coordinator as soon as the gun sounds on this game.
  8. Some great replies to the question up there. ^^^ I would liked to have seen what Sam could have done with a second year, but even still I'm not sure he would have surpassed Zac. Taylor is a special guy, the kind of QB you don't see very often. In the end, I'm just glad both came to play for Nebraska. You really should state ahead of time that you're a blithering idiot before making posts this stupid. Not only can you not spell, you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Thank goodness you're not indicative of the average Husker fan.
  9. This is very true. Keller is a good QB. It's just possible that Ganz is better. I will not disrespect the heart and guts Sam Keller showed in his brief time here.
  10. Dude, you're commenting on the KU game - so why not put this in that thread? You really thought this needed its own thread?
  11. I have the game on tape delay to edit out commercials and I just got done with the first half. That was at the same time the best and worst half of football I've seen us play all year! ! ! ! ! ! Offense - GREAT job! Ganz is a dream! A couple of drops cost him some numbers, and he's thrown a couple of dangerous passes, but overall he has been remarkable. I am SO happy with him. Defense - That was perhaps the worst defensive half I have ever seen, Texas Tech included, and I don't ever even want to hear the name of our future former DC again. The man is a complete fraud. What is perhaps most shocking is that the first half featured what may have been the best single effort by an NU defender this year - Andre Jones' tackle where he fought through the WR and tackled the screen man for a loss. Amazing play. The sad thing about that play? We used to have 5-10 of those every game. I would like to see T.O. fire our DC right now, before the game is even over. That would be awesome, and only what the man deserves.
  12. QFT This is also the reason I give little credence to the recruiting rankings.
  13. Rose isn't that bad! I can't believe all the guys who don't like him. He's not as good as Bremser, but nobody will ever be that good again.
  14. I knew that wasn't your stuff, Husker, which is why I was trying to be clear that I wasn't calling you out. I think that, aside from the academic stuff, everything the author of that list "dug up" is pretty normal stuff for the kind of personality it takes to be a head coach.
  15. I have to say that I'm a smidge concerned about this right after the Texas loss. Maybe there's a bit of a hangover from the Texas match, but we've lost more games in the last two matches than we've lost in the previous 30 matches combined! This is not the worst time for a slump (pre-tournament), but it's not exactly a GOOD time for one, either.
  16. God bless the Makovickas!!! Any time anyone from that family wants to suit up, I say we let them.
  17. I agree that it is possible. This team has yet to play to its potential. I will be watching, hoping to see it. I'm just afraid that it is highly improbable.
  18. My commenst below in BOLD: Basically, if this is all the "dirt" they can dig up on Mangino, I'd say he's doing pretty good. I'm troubled by the academic fraud stuff. That's not cool at all, and there's no minimizing it. But the rest - it's just crap. Someone was looking for dirt, and when you look for dirt, you can usually find it. Mostly to me that all amounts to needless sniping, aside from the academics.
  19. I will be happy if we hold them to 40. I will probably have kittens if we hold them to 21 or less. But we're not going to. Not with Cos calling the shots.
  20. Welcome to Rumorville! While this may be true, it's still a rumor. Short of baking kittens into pie, I'm not sure I could be bothered to care more about Steve Pederson. He's gone, he needed to be gone, and now that he's gone we can move forward.
  21. Awesome! I won't be wasting much time in there, that much I can tell you.
  22. I like his voice. I think he does a decent job of calling the games. I'm not too concerned when he adds inflection to his voice when the other team has a big play - it helps build the image of what's going on on the field. Of course, NOBODY will ever compare to Lyle Bremser. When I grew up my Saturday day afternoon chore during Fall was splitting wood for our woodburner. Three hours in the chilly air with nothing by Lyle to keep me company - those were good times. I liked Kent Pavelka well enough, and if I had to choose between Kent and Jim I'd probably choose Kent. I'm cool with Rose, though. PS - Warren Swain was an abomination. Thank God he's gone!
  23. Pro QBs can NOT scramble! That is pure nonsense! Aside from rarities like Mike Vick, Randall Cunningham, Steve Young, Doug Flutie and maybe a couple of others, most every single QB in the NFL is taught to stay in that pocket, period. Seriously dude, that's just plain wrong.
