  1. I've only heard of it being Quoted For Truth.
  2. Herman pretty much dodged the question. On one hand, it was a Texas press conference, and I can understand him not wanting to comment on another program, especially since there's an ongoing investigation. On the other hand, he still kinda makes you wonder how much he'd heard, even if he had no direct involvement. Reminds me of when Charlie Sheen was on Two and a Half Men. Holds a knife to his wife's throat? "This is a very private matter, and we're going to let them work things out without our interference." Makes fun of the producer? "FIRED!"
  3. Remember that Wistrom talked to the team and led them onto the field last year for the Wisconsin game, when they were marking the 20th anniversary of the '97 national champions team. Pity, of course, that it couldn't have been Frost leading them that day, but maybe they can get a do-over for the 25th anniversary.
  4. @Saunders Nor are there pixels on the hype train, apparently.
  5. @krc1995 Or maybe he isn't constantly poking Bo with a stick anymore.
  6. Probably not a surprise for anyone here, we all thought he could become a breakout star last year, though obviously that didn't happen.
  7. @Moiraine I think another factor is that a lot of fans want Martinez not necessarily because he's a better overall QB, but because he better matches their mental image of what a Nebraska QB should look like, ie a guy that can run it. Some (understandable) anti-Riley bias is probably in play here as well.
  8. @Moiraine Brainfart, deleted. People need to knock it off with similar-looking red & white avatars and names that start with 'Big' and use of phrases like 'not even close/comparable'.
  9. I still wonder if Gebbia could end up getting the start over Martinez simply because he fits with the strengths of his teammates better. A lot of people think Gebbia is a better passer and Martinez is a better runner, right? Well, it's safe to say that the O-line was better at pass blocking than run blocking last year, and I while I'm sure they'll be better at it this year, they could still be a bit uneven there. And though we're doing a ton of speculation about RBs, I think we know with a greater degree of certainty that the WRs should be a strength of this offense this year. All of that could work in Gebbia's favor this year. To be fair, everyone wants to forget the 2007 season.
  10. "Investigators found some of the online listings to be hoaxes," Sands said. https://journalstar.com/news/local/911/teen-arrested-in-burglary-at-husker-coach-scott-frost-s/article_8b5d4936-95fd-527f-afc8-4b64d5b6c586.html#1
  11. I can hear the grumbles from people who don't like 'running back by committee' now...
  12. I'd rather have a guy show up just before fall camp and impress like Washington than show up just before fall camp like Jordan Stevenson...
  13. You know, @Husker_Bohunk, you can quote more than one post at a time. Just hit the + sign on all of the posts you want to quote, then hit the Quote # Posts button in the corner.
  14. I always say it's one thing to lose and another thing to look like you never had a chance. The Huskers should never look like they didn't have a chance.
  15. Maybe they should expand the roster to 150 or so, and make greater use of walk-ons to build more depth and keep players fresh. Somebody should tell Frost that!
  16. Are they showing Husker games on Discovery, TNT, and A&E now?
  17. @Saunders Oh, they'll still be milking their payments from us for a while... But hey, at least they won't be leading (to use the term loosely) us on the field anymore!
  18. I linked that same pic in another thread yesterday. Still say Farniok needs to suck in that gut, though.
  19. @Vince R. Milking the clock was more for the defense's sake, not for the offense to be effective.
  20. 2008 was pretty focused on time of possession all year IIRC, but the end of the Missouri game is when they started to transition to their 'spread-coast' offense. 2009 was when they went full-on turtle mode and kinda stopped passing the ball, after they had given up so many turnovers in the first half of the season. What was it, three interceptions and five fumbles lost against Iowa State? That was the turning point.
  21. Hmm... 2008 vs 2018... I feel like the players gave up on Riley to a greater extent than they did Callahan. Last year, everybody pretty much figured it was a lame duck season as soon as Eichorst was fired, and a lot of the players pretty much phoned it in from there on out. 2007 was a little different, though. 2017 sucked all around, but 2007 at least had a pretty good offense. In Callahan's second to last game, they hung 73 on K-State - the team, or at least the offense, still had some fight in them. It's probably safe to say that Riley and Callahan were both fairly poor at developing players. Callahan was probably only marginally better as a recruiter than Riley. Yes, his 2005 class was highly ranked, but that was mainly because it was such a big class - the average rating of the players was really nothing special. I think we've got a perfectly good group in terms of raw potential, but the big question is how quickly they can be developed. I'll take Duval over Dobson in a heartbeat, though! Everybody mentions Suh, but I think people tend to forget that the 2008 defense was still pretty weak overall - the offense was playing ball-hog to keep them off the field. I said above, for all we know we might actually have an undiscovered Suh on this team. But I think the best news I've heard in the last few days is that Chinander said he's been pleasantly surprised by the defense's retention of things - like he's not having to start at ground-zero fundamentals, which I think Bo had to do a lot of. I'm not sure how much of the 2007 offense was Callahan's vs Watson's, but it's probably safe to say that keeping Watson helped smooth the transition. On the other hand, I think Frost is probably a better schemer with a better system than Watson's. Honestly, I think Ganz is a little overrated in some people's memories. He was good, but not amazing. This year we're not returning any QBs with game experience, but does anybody really think we'd be better off if Lee & O'Brien were still on the team? Hell, I a year or so ago a few people were thinking Gebbia might have been ready to take the starter job from Lee by 2018, and if Riley & co were still here we'd probably be saying the same thing. One of the brightest spots on the 2008 squad was Roy Helu. 2018... uhh... let me get back to you on that. Riley's ground game was absolutely pathetic, but I really don't think the RBs were to blame for that. I have no idea who the starter will be, but I feel like we've got enough decent options that somebody should be able to emerge as a solid RB.
  22. Suck in that gut, Farniok! (And goddamn, the thighs on Carlos!)
