  1. I suppose if we're discussing picking the corpse of the Big 12, West Virginia is worth mentioning. Certainly the Big Ten would make more sense for them geographically than the Big 12. I don't really see any other reason to bring them in, though.
  2. Didn't stop us from taking Maryland and Rutgers. I've been linking this a lot lately, in various contexts...
  3. Screw it, let's take the whole UNC/NC State/Duke trio!
  4. @FrantzHardySwag I mean, this isn't exactly a surprise. If you've been following things, this is pretty much how it's been expected to play out for a long time now - the next round of conference realignment would happen with the end of the Big 12's current media contracts. Oklahoma in particular has been the subject of a lot of rumors and speculation. Thread from three years ago:
  5. So what? Should we hold it against Suh that he didn't really work in Callahan's defense?
  6. And in a year when other teams are gonna be loaded with super-seniors, no less!
  7. @FrantzHardySwag TBH, that reminds me of what people were saying in 2016, which is kinda scary. Out of our first seven games, only Oregon (#22) was expected to be a tough game. Felt good when we beat Oregon, but they turned out to be a paper tiger, with Helfrich getting the axe at the end of the season. And the remaining year and a half of Riley's tenure from there, well, we all know how that went....
  8. Arguably Lucky's biggest problems were running into his own blocker and inability to find the hole. I suppose an offense that emphasizes creating space would have benefited him.
  9. Did Crouch ever have his ankle stepped on by his center?
  10. I could maybe see 'stealing' in the sense of a local kid opting to take a scholy to UNO over walking on at UNL, maybe.
  11. I think with both groups, it's gonna come down to whether we can stay healthy. At RB, we've got a room full of guys with plenty of potential but a history of injuries. I'm expecting it to be RB by committee, playing whoever is in decent shape that week. At WR I think we've got the best three starters as a group since Frost's first year (and possibly since well before that), but we'd better pray they can stay healthy because I don't feel as good about the depth.
  12. Couldn't they have found another conference for wrestling to compete in? It's not that uncommon for smaller sports, like Notre Dame is a Big Ten member for hockey, and Johns Hopkins competes in Big Ten lacrosse - and they're a freaking D-III school!
  13. That part is almost identical, wrestling scholarship limit is 9 for D-II and 9.9 for D-I. And again, if scholarship numbers were the real problem, why would you turn around and added men's soccer (9.9 scholarships for D-I) and golf (4.5)? Yeah, even if he was hired to do the dirty work of the board of regents, the way he did it was completely classless. And if he was just brought in to UNO to be a yes man for the regents, that doesn't exactly fill me with warm & fuzzy feelings about his hire at UNL...
  14. Don't think this has been linked here. Three-part retrospective look, written just a few months ago, at the killing of UNO's wrestling program, and why there's still a lot of bitterness about it. Perhaps the most critical question: "But if finances and Title IX compliance were primary factors, why then did UNO dispose of a dominant wrestling program only to launch two new men’s programs?" Even a decade after the fact, Alberts refused their requests to speak on the matter.... 18. Funny, I saw it just recently. Deontai Williams says NU's decision to skip bowl was culture issue that needs to be fixed
  19. I don't know about you guys, but Trev sounds just like Steve Pederson to me. And his claim in that video that Missouri had passed Nebraska is just straight up baffling. 2003 was Gary Pinkel's third season at Missou, and his first where they even qualified for a bowl game. They finished third in the North, behind Nebraska and K-State. He was 17-19 at that point. I like this hire even less now than I did this morning...
  20. Well, now that we know who the new AD is, here's his thoughts on firing a certain other coach. (start about 40 seconds in)
