  1. Mandel's a tool!! He says that, but the early 2000s might as well have been the early 1900s in the minds of the 16- and 17-year-old recruits who Pelini and his staff are attempting to lure to Lincoln. Unless those recruits grew up in Nebraska, Tommie Frazier and Eric Crouch are little more than names in a media guide to them. Maybe that's because kids these days get Vince Young, Beanie Wells, and a bunch of other pansies crammed down their throats!! Seriously, I think I might puke next time I hear or read about Robert Griffin from Baylor being a good QB!! He's f-ing horrible!! Yes, he has speed but big deal. Lots of players throughout history have had speed and nobody throws their names out like it's an answer in final Jeopardy!! He also has the throwing mechanics of someone imitating the mix between Sam Keller's delivery and a Jennie Finch pitch and nobody wants to discuss that!! Yeah, I'm a major homer but Tommie was in a league of his own compared to any of the guys running the ball at QB today and nobody wants to give him props. You could watch highlights of him all day and he puts all other running QB's to shame. Speed, power, arm strength!! He had it all. I'd venture to say that if he had worked on his accuracy and didn't have any clots, we'd be watching him play on Sundays and hearing about him a lot more than as some footnote in Stewart Mandel's articles. GBR!!! Not sure what game you've been watching, but since I'm still at home and not at NU yet we still use our family's season tickets to Baylor football, as my whole family has graduated from BU. Griffin is the real deal and by next year will probably be labeled the 2nd best QB in the conference next to Sam Bradford and the best dual threat QB in the country. He's better than Pat White already, better than Grothe, better than Locker...I think the problem is that most fans of bigger schools can't seem to fathom that this guy slipped past them. Griffin had a scholarship offer to NU, too. He was a strong Christian and had formed a bond with Coach Briles, so he chose to head to Waco. You my friend are crazy!!! He couldn't hold Tyrod Taylor's jock, which isn't saying much, let alone Pat White's, Grothe, Locker or Bradford. Yes, I'll give you the fact that he does make a few plays with his legs but from the 3 games I've seen him play Washington State, UCONN, and Wake; I haven't been impressed. A few plays a game using your legs doesn't constitute mention as a dual threat QB. Hell, nearly 75% of the yards he has gained rushing this year came when he ran for 217 against WSU, and to be perfectly honest with you, they play more like a high school team on defense than a D-I team. Against his other 3 opponents he ran for 46, 42, and 29 yards while passing for 125, 294, 129, and 208 yards respectively. Hardly numbers consistent or anywhere near what I would call the 2nd Best QB in the Big 12. Oh, and by the way can you let me know who you think is going to label him the 2nd best QB in the Big 12, so I can slap the sh@t out of him. Hopefully if he improves like you say he will, he might be around 10th or 11th best QB in the Big 12. Coming in ahead of only Josh Freeman of course, HA HA!! Feel free to slap the whole game day crew on FSN (they called him a Heisman contender), Tommy Bowden, Jim Grobe ("I really don't want to play them next year"), Randy Edsall ("I really don't want to play him next year"), and virtually every broadcaster who's mentioned Baylor. Get a clue, guy. Just because he doesn't play for NU doesn't mean he's not good. He's an elite QB in this conference and he's a freshman. You failed to mention that he's yet to throw a pick against 2 of the best defenses in the country in Wake and UConn. Seriously...some people are so uninformed. Just stick to NU football...Don't be involved in any other form of college football. You're clueless.

I watched the game the other week and wasn't that impressed....he did make some good plays, but he does seem a little overhyped. If he continues to get good coaching he might pan out, but that is no guarantee at BU. Also, putting him in the same bracket at Sam Bradford is a stretch! "Top to bottom, running back to receiver to offensive guard, that team had some serious speed. I would compare them with the only other team I've seen demonstrate this kind of athleticism...that's right...our beloved toothless friends from the south, West Virginia University. And while Griffin (their QB) didn't have "Gold Frontz" (you alone hold that honor, Noel Divine), he did have some serious speed. Want to know just how serious his talent is? The kid won the NCAAs when he should have been in the end of his senior year of high school. He graduated in the fall and entered Baylor in the spring. Still not convinced? Why don't you check out the play where I had him cornered in the pocket, already cutting the tape for my highlight reel, and he made me (a slow, fat, white guy) look like...well...a slow, fat, white guy. He was gone in a flash and rolling out. I chased in vain. He was good." That's from Rob Lunn's blog. He's a d-lineman at UConn. They play WVU every year.
  3. WOW! Awesome! Great day for you then!

  5. My thoughts exactly. Why show all your cards against New Mexico State?
  6. I am not sure it will be that much of a blowout...but Oklahoma has been KILLIN teams...and TCU won't escape Norman with a W this time......no chance. Bah...how hard is it to kill teams like Chattanooga, Cincinnati and Washington? Anyway...it'll be a good game with TCU's #1 defense going up against OK's #4 offense. I still say TCU wins it... And how hard is it to beat teams (not kill) teams like New Mexico, Stephen F. Austin, Stanford, and SMU? Their #1 defense hasn't faced a glimpse of a tough team yet. Cincinnati went 10-2 last year. OU is the best team in the country...How can you say that TCU has a chance? The highest ranked offense they've faced so far is 98 in the country lol.
  7. Good Guys - 21 Turkies - 10 Passing Yards: 303 Rushing Yards: 78
  8. I don't see where KU mustered up the confidence they had against USF. Grothe, Ford, Selvie on defense...Those guys will finish first or 2nd in the Big East depending on how well UConn does. They can play. I think it's pretty safe to say that USF would probably beat VaTech. I mean, no offense, but I think KU fans got really spoiled after last year. We'll see if that success can be sustained...
  9. On a side note...I heard Dubai is beautiful.
  10. he is the kind of talent that will bring in more talent. Maybe not really good this year or next year, but as a junior he should have young playmakers around him. He's started. They have a VERY good class of OLs coming in next year and stole aggy's best recruit in Ivory Wade. The transition is starting. Okay, I'm done bragging on Baylor. Time to put my NU cap back on and go post in football section lmao.
  11. I've seen Griffin in all 4 games this year. With all due respect, your analysis is dead wrong. This guy is a freak of nature and someone who fell right into Baylor's lap. He actually had an offer from NU and about 15 other major D-1 schools (Tennessee, Florida State, etc.) but they weren't to play QB. I believe NU Wanted to make him a safety. I have no reservations in saying that he's the best freshman QB in the country, could be a Heisman contender as early as next year, and can carry this program on his back. He is the most gifted QB in the Big 12. He's yet to throw a pick all year and has 7 TDs, is the 2nd leading rusher on the team, and has already shown his leadership as an 18 year old freshman...This guy has only started 3 games. I recall only 3 passes against UConn that he totally misfired on and one of them was a completion for a first down lol. I'm also not sure if anyone knew this, but UConn had only given up 1 TD all year before this game and it was in cleanup duty against Virginia. Robert Griffin exploited that defense. I read the blog of a UConn player (I'll post the link at the end of this post) where he said that Robert Griffin was the fastest player he'd ever played against and that includes Pat White. He's not just a "running QB". He's accurate and has a cannon. I'm not sure where you got this info from, but Griffin is a very legit player and Tommy Bowden said that he "may be the next great dual-threat quarterback in college football". He's a superstar and it's totally okay to buy into the hype, folks. He has the ability to torch any defense out there. I don't care if it's USC, OU, or LSU. He's that good. I've read articles questioning Terrelle Pryor and why Robert Griffin isn't the QB for Ohio State. The kid is a total player and will contend for the Heisman next year if Baylor can iron out a few kinks in the defense. They have a very legit group of recruits coming in next year, including about 5 very gifted OLs. IT starts in the trenches. Briles is doing things the right way in Waco and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them rise up to Tech stature within the next 2 years. They can make those kinda strides.
  12. My entire family has attended Baylor and since I'm still at home, we still have season tickets to BU football. I can say that this game was reffed horribly on BOTH sides. UConn got hosed with a roughing the passer call that in all reality wasn't at all and they should've had a safety on another call, but didn't get it. On a side note as a Baylor fan in addition to my NU fanhood lol, Baylor is going in the right direction. Everyone kinda sees this 2 year window where we could pass aggy in recruiting. I think with Briles at the healm, Baylor will be out of the cellar after next season. I think they'll probably finish 5th in the South ahead of aggy, but next year could finish as high as 3rd. Once Briles gets his offense fully installed, this team is going to be a tough matchup for ANYONE. Actually, they're going to be that this year...Even for us.
  13. Looking forward to watching the beatdown.
  14. Already saw a comment about it on the Baylor board that I post on. On a side note, this really is sad. He had a TON of potential. One of the ones that fell through the cracks...
  15. I'm looking forward to attending some of these when I get to Lincoln for next football season.
  16. I never like the b******* idea, but it causes some excitement amongst students. I guess it's okay, but I voted no just for personal reasons lol. It's the Big Red Sea...lol.
  17. He's a good guy. Want a crash course in special teams? Watch VT since he's been there.
  18. Totally agree. VaTech is not a very good team. They can't seem to get anything going on offense and they're facing a MUCH improved defense. Should be a long day for the Hokies.
  19. 1) How long have you been a member of Husker Nation? About 8 years or so. Since the first time I saw NU as a Baylor season ticket holder. 2) What/who led you to The Nation? Seeing NU fans come in droves all the way to little ol' Waco to play tiny Baylor lol. 3) Where are you from originally? Dallas, TX. 4) Where do you live now? Irving, TX...soon to be Lincoln, NE in January. 5) Favorite Husker memory? Game 1 of this year against WMU. Finally got to see my best friend/brother do something on the field for NU. 6) Worst Husker memory? Last year USC was kind of embarrassing. Pretty much all of last year's defense? 7) Number of home games attended? None yet. 8) Number of away games attended? A few. All in Waco except one in Austin. 9) Favorite Husker memorabilia/apparel? I don't know. I have a hat that my buddy gave me when they did the recruitment hat thing lol. That's pretty important to me. 10) Favorite place to watch a Husker game? (section in Memorial, bar, friends house etc.) I had a good time watching the game at Cape Buffalo in Addison. 11) Favorite all time player? CG11 haha. 12) WCO or Option? WCO definitely. More balanced. 13) Stevie Pederson or Billy Byrne? Umm...TO. 14) Lil Red or Herbie Husker? Herbie...Lil' Red is kind of annoying. 15) Favorite Husker play? Umm...Tommie Frazier's run in the NC against Florida when he drove through that pile of like 6 guys. That was amazing. 16) Favorite game-day beverage? Sweet tea. I'm from TX lol. 17) How did you find HuskerBoard? (referral source)[/b] Umm...Search engine and I used to post under a different name, but I got tired of it. I used to post under TX-Husker-2011.
