Better recruits would obviously go a long way as well. We've struck gold with one recruit, Burkhead. The juco thing is okay but we can't rely on them to come in and succeed right away other than THE best linebacker NU has ever seen Lavonte David. In my opinion!

Good point! That's all we can do, wonder. I watch other games and I think to myself, Why can't we play like that? The sad thing is we had all the momentum in our favor early and we pissed it away. We could of won big but the opposite occurred. They have a lot of work to do this off-season if they want to be great next year.

Exactly. They have to be held accountable. The person who doesn't hold them accountable is Bo Pelini. When Austin Cassidy makes mistake after mistake after mistake, yet starts game after game after game, there is no accountability. That is coaching. Bo can sit there and say he is coaching his players but they aren't doing what their coached to do, well Bo, do something about it. How about the drive that had about 4 straight penalties? Who's to blame for that? We more than 90% of div 1 teams see boneheaded plays like this on the regular. That 90% was an estimation, wouldn't be surprised if it was higher. Bo is correct in saying the players need to execute better, BUT he may need to put in different personnel because a few players consistently make mistakes (Ciante Evans, Cassidy, Stafford,etc)...maybe its due to inexperience at the D1 level...I hope so.

Pelini is going to treat it like its just another game. Part of the process. We happen to be playing Penn St this week but this whole incident has nothing to do with the univ. of Nebraska or its athletes. The Penn St family is who needs overwhelming support not Nebraska. The teams focus should be to rebound from last weeks disappointment and continue to focus on the process.

That is a big crock. Hell I could hear the crowd counting down the play clock watching the game on TV. To blame the fans for poor coaching is to buy into the argument that its the fans fault for that piss poor coaching. And who blames the fans? Pelini. Pelini because he doesn't know what he is doing 1/2 the time yet. Pelini...because he is still a young, inexperienced hothead that is a poor loser and lashes out at everyone and every thing when it hurts. Now...I have to say that "losing" when he knows he shouldn't, seems to have brought him down a notch or 2 when it comes to dealing with the press conferences after the game. He seems to have settled down a little. The more calls he get's for his head on a platter...the more humble he will become, I believe. Oh...and by the way...just because you are a polite cusser ("dad gum") doesn't mean that you aren't a prick. And just because a few fans leave early doesn't make them pathetic. It just means they have better or other things to do. Hell...I dont sit around in a theater and watch a movie that I don't like. They paid for their tickets, they can leave anytime they want. You whiney little fans that cry like this after a loss need to get some balance in your pathetic little lives. And for those of you that want the "blue hairs" to leave so that you can get their tickets, remember...if it wasn't for those blue hairs...you wouldn't have a team to whine about. Snot nosed little punks. lol Sometimes I think that the best thing that could happen to Nebraska would be for it's football team to go back to the pre-Devaney era of indifference...THEN...we would see who the REAL fans are. blaming poor play or losses on fans is quite lame. It's laughable. I like Bo but he must not worry/give a **** what the crowd is doing and just focus on his team. Like Nebula said if the players need the fans to fire them up to win they need to take a long look in the mirror.

Great post Tony. The coaches can only do so much, the players need to execute. No excuse for the way they have been playing if they are truly that talented.

No need to make excuses for the huskers. Northwestern's offense may be decent but they are 4-5 ala they suck. They lost to Army. Things will be much easier when you realize the huskers are not very good either. The only positive's I see is that the team as a whole is young and have shown some signs of good play but they are much to inconsistent.

In four years Pelini has accomplished the exact same as Callahan, got us to a conference championship game with a loss. Huskers would be lucky to get to a conference championship game this year. A common theme in husker nation is continuing...its called "there's always next year"

Where is this playing for our entertainment coming from? If you ask any player why they came to Nebraska to play football I doubt they would say to entertain the fans. We are entertained by watching them play, they don't play to entertain us. They play for tuition free schooling and a chance at the NFL. Not to mention making long lasting relationships and many memories along the way.

Great step in the right direction but he still has a lot of work to do. Beck can help him out and make life a lot easier if he stays within Taylor's skill set. Taylor is a leader he is only lacking in his throwing mechanics which hopefully he will improve.

I agree with your statement as well. Dirk my "irk" many husker fans but I believe he is asking the questions that we can only speculate answers for on Huskerboard. Pelini isn't very receptive of his questions but that's just how he does things, he likes to focus on the positives and address the negatives in house only.

The only thing that has been pathetic is the team's play all season. The defense hasn't looked good in any game and the offense is so inconsistent it's not funny. Now if we were a team like Kansas with not so big expectations for ourselves I wouldn't call it pathetic. But if we are the big bad huskers who are (supposed?) to be a top 10 team then we are pathetic to this point in the season. I can only hope the errors will be corrected as the season progresses.

I love Bo as our coach. Passionate,intense and understanding of tradition. He's a great football mind working with some average and above average talent...not his fault.

I'm sure most of us felt the same way you did last night. It is disappointing to never be able to win a big game and always play like sh#t on nat'l tv. Especially year after year when the fans and players alike hype the team up like its going to be their year. I'm sick of the hype and ensuing embarrassment that occurs year after year.

I can agree with you on most accept for him being a darn accurate passer, I'll chalk that up to you not seeing enough of his play. He is a very inconsistent passer and rarely accurate. He is much more of a running qb who apparently the coaches hope can make some throws. I can't blame last night totally on taylor because our offense is supposed to be run heavy and we featured wayyyy to much passing last night.

Honestly who cares what the song does for us. If it gets the team pumped and ready to go hit somebody thats all that matters to me.

you could also put up almost any song by bolt thrower. there's a few good ones by it dies today. don't ever forget pantera and slayer. All of the newer metallica stuff sucks, if you go old with it then thats some good stuff.
