  1. I know what your saying and I hope this isn't the case, but sometimes you really do wonder wth is going on.
  2. I'd imagine Bo to bristle at that question and for him to go on attack mode. Most people don't like being called on their BS, and even less do at a public press-conference.
  3. Also, it is fairly convenient to just, off-the-cuff, say someone was injured after the fact as an excuse for why the player was not playing. I can understand this in a case or two, but not as much as we have seen. I don't buy it. If Courtney Osborne is injured and has been all year, he should not be suiting up and travelling and taking up a travel spot.
  4. Kyler Reed should probably be moved to WR. I realize Mike McNeil was lost after he moved, but he does not possess Kyler Reed's athleticism. It is clear he is, at best, a liability as a blocker, and it is unlikely this will change much. He needs to be on the field, that is for sure, but not at the detriment of limited play calling or blown blocking assignments. I don't understand why we continually see inferior athletes on the field. I understand that Tim Marlowe is not the reason the game was lost on Saturday, and he seems like a great kid who plays his heart out, but I think most can agree that he is nowhere near as athletically gifted as Jamal Turner. If Pelini is keeping Turner out because of an attitude issue, there is a problem here. Turner is a freshman, and he is just out of the recruiting process, and if he truly has such a terrible attitude, he should not have been recruited if he did not fit Pelini's mold. I seriously doubt his personality has changed much in the past 12 months. If he doesn't have an attitude problem, he needs to be on the field.
  5. In time, I think Aaron could be a huge contributor. If he dedicates himself in the offseason and the rest of the offense really gels, this could be the beginning of a really explosive offense. So many players have sat and heard nothing from until an injury or a transfer thrusts them into major playing time and that player shines brightly. The key is staying motivated and being ready for your moment. I know it's hard, I get it, I was 19 once, but staying dedicated and motivated will pay huge dividends down the line.

    Kinnie

I think Kinnie has improved as the season went along after having some drops in the first couple games. He isn't a superstar, but he has had many big catches in his Husker career. He does exactly what the coaches ask of him, he just needs to concentrate and reel them in when he gets his chance. Have to have faith in this guy when it counts. Also, let's keep this post on track and do not foray into the "you don't know anything if you never played this sport"..."nuh uh" back and forth. I disagree with the poster's assertion that Kinnie stinks, and do not like player bashing. This thread is walking a thin line, IMO, so please keep it above board. Thanks.
  7. Yes, we really need North Korea levels of control over all aspects of student athlete's lives. I am sure that everyone who's annoyed by players saying anything besides the usual PR friendly lines at pressers and interviews was a perfectly disciplined robot in their college years, had no trouble adjusting their first year, and has never been disappointed by things not working exactly like you planned. No one is saying they can't have an opinion or be upset, but it is all about the methodology. Airing frustrations via facebook or twitter where many many folks can see does not typically lead to a productive situation. If he is frustrated or upset, he should speak with his friends and family, and discuss his frustrations with the coaches. That is a productive method for voicing frustration. Passive-aggressive social media postings do not lead to any sort of productive resolution. The internet is written in ink, and spouting off to fans, friends, lurkers, etc. when you are pissed about something will typically end poorly. Twitter can be a good tool, but can also be a destructive force. Point is he's what, 19 years old and made a comment? Who cares? It's funny how quickly people jump all over this stuff as though the players are not human beings with opinions and feelings. Like last year with T-Mart...I don't even remember what it was, maybe one sentence of locker room hearsay and everyone was ready to condemn him. To my knowledge, not even coaches like Kelly and Saban who are well known to micromanage everything bar players from using social media. Yes, he is a kid, and will ultimately have to learn from his mistakes. There are many teams with a twitter ban, I believe LSU has one.

  9. Time to shut down twitter for players. Aaron, you are a true freshman and you have gotten 3 TD's and can still play a significant part in 2+ more games. If you think this season was a waste, go talk to Prince, Niles Paul, Enunwa and Dennard. This is Rex's team, and you are going to have to prove that you are worth giving him a break. Settle down and get to work.
  10. Wow, lots of good running backs on that list. Big honor for Rex to be held in that high regard.
  11. Exactly. For every wrong read, he made 8-10 correct ones. Taylor has shown marked improvement in decision making in the last several games. It's very encouraging to see with such a young offense.
  12. Taylor has played really well since Wisconsin for sure. A steady progression this season. His decision making is getting better, and so is his accuracy. If he can get some work in the offseason with stepping through his throws and not dropping his shoulder, he should continue to improve.
  13. Rex Burkhead, Bill Brasky and Chuck Norris once met. Unfortunately, the world could not contain that level of awesomeness and the event was erased from recorded history.
  14. Makes me wonder if Carl used to play a lot of Tekken. Looked like Eddy Gordo getting ready for a fight.
  15. What are the possible game times? Are we looking at 11 or 2:30, or is a night game a possibility? Any idea when the announcement will be made?
  16. Boom! Great analogy. It's at the same time great (for Stanley) and terrifying (where's our depth!?!?!?) that he's moved and succeeded so quickly. Still...... he's just had one game. And really one great play. Let's hope that wasn't a mirage, or beginner's luck. He also had a personal foul against the Buckeyes. We just gotta hope that his future is as bright as this move makes it look. I think this says something about Raymond and his style as opposed to Sanders. SJB is the only guy not polluted with all the gibberish in Spring and Fall camps. He is literally a blank slate and is probably being given some very basic assignments to let his athleticism shine. I hope he is very successful and becomes comfortable out there in a whole game scenario. Ciante showed flashes last year, and now looks completely lost rather than making a leap forward. I am sure Coach Raymond is a great coach, but hopefully he is able to identify a way to make everything click for these guys. Just so I understand. SJB is so much better because Raymond hasn't ruined him? Yet Fonzo still looks pretty damn good minus his injury. Why hasn't Raymond ruined him? I'm sure its because he learned everything under Sanders....right? Well our other DB's who are struggling have spent more time under Sanders than Raymond so isn't it really Marvin's fault these guys aren't further along in the learning of the defensive scheme? I mean that's all anyone give Sanders credit for is teaching the defense, because he didn't recruit and he teach technique. At least he could have taught them the scheme. Come on people it can't be both ways a guy can't be good so its the coach before success and if a guy struggles all the new guys fault. Watch the film. Most of the guys having issues are undersized. They've been blocked out of bounds on running plays like grade schoolers, and when they try to make tackles they've struggled because the other guys are bigger. Yes there have been some scheme issues as well as technique things but as much of that has been about the change in coverages and responsibilities in our three LB sets. Remember we changed defense this year. Both the new coaches and the players have struggled some in teaching and learning. Its a little bit of everything adding up here. And personally the D-line isn't helping those guys either. This is an across the board type of thing that the DB's are getting blamed for. Its like when you build a house. If the foundation is off and out of square then the studs and walls appear more off and then the cabinets and counters look like a disaster. That's what we have going on here too. Thankfully it looks like the last two weeks we went back and tried to square up the foundation and make things more simple. This should help. Perhaps that didn't come off as intended. I think there is a disconnect between what Raymond has been putting down and what the defensive backs have been picking up. Not saying Sanders was God and Raymond sucks, but the players don't seem to be on the same page yet, even the guys that played regularly last year. SJB is the only guy who didn't know anything of what Sanders was teaching, and has just begun to learn the way Raymond teaches. I agree with you that the defensive line not being able to get pressure has been a huge disappointment and concern up to this point and only exaggerates what is happening with a struggling, young secondary. Hopefully as the secondary gets more comfortable, it will give the line more time to get after QB's. I am optimistic, but not foolishly optimistic to think this defense will be better than last year, but I think they can play much better than they have.
  17. He played pretty solidly filling in for Dennard against Missouri, not just the goal line stand.

  19. I voted Option 4. I like the idea of throwbacks every once in a while. I hope there are no serious votes for option 2.
  20. I think the numbers to this point aren't great, but I look for many more slugfests in conference to bring those numbers down. Washington was held to 17 through the first 52 minutes until the Defense decided to take a nap, which normally does not happen, and Wisconsin was a nightmare that I equate to the 04 Texas Tech game which will skew the numbers a bit. I look for the D to get well in the well-timed bye week. They will rally around Crick going down. They just need to stop waiting for someone to make a play, but need to go out and make one happen. Minnesota, Michigan State, Iowa and Penn State will probably not get in the 20's. Michigan and Northwestern are the 2 teams that have offenses that scare me. This will not be Pelini's best or worst defense here, but will be servicable by the end of the season, I believe.
  21. Well, the season is half over, anyone have any (bold) predictions for the rest of the season? Here are mine: Burkhead finishes with 20+ TD's total and is an All B1G pick. Stanley Jean-Baptiste develops into a servicable starting corner opposite Dennard. Terrence Moore steps up big time and plays great down the stretch. Bo goes back to more 4-2-5 adding some comfort level back to the defense. Taylor Martinez continues to improve and completes around 55% of his passes from here on.
  22. This formation puts 4 potential ball carriers that you are afraid of in the backfield. If the line can hold a block, it puts the ball carrier in position to make a big play by making someone miss and will usually leave a receiver with 1 on 1 coverage and no safety over the top. You put a formation out there with Taylor, Rex, Aaron Green, Abdullah, Enunwa/Turner and Kyler Reed/Ben Cotton, that is an awful dangerous formation that will be very difficult for teams to defend. Looking ahead at the schedule, I do not see many teams (if any) that have the athleticism on defense to shut down on all that speed. We'll see if they can continue to execute.
  23. Fox Sports Midwest is running postgame until 11:15 in hopes of catching any news.
  24. You have an interesting perspective. 6 of the major contributors were All Big 12 or All American. That is a phenomenal recruiting class.
  25. If the Royals took him, I look for him to go the baseball route. Congrats to him, that is awesome. Hopefully they can land another big bat and an arm and they will be looking really good for the next few years.
