    Uh oh

Yea, I heard that from a respected poster on HI that is usually always legit. Didn't know it was with the knee, but apparently Eric Hagg is now learning how to wrap up with his new Black Shirt. Cross your fingers and hope that Joey's knee didn't pop and it's only a sprain and he ready to play next Friday.
  2. I think the main reason we're not pulling in as good of a recruiting class as fans would like (minus Green, Williams & a few others) is that this year we're coming off a 5-7 season & we just fired our head coach. If we beat Colorado (no reason we shouldnt) & have a good showing in our bowl game, recruits will see that we're a program headed in the right direction & we'll have more success pulling in recruits next year. That said, this is not a very big loss IMO I agree, it's not that big of a loss. Actually I think the best safety prospect in the state of Colorado is the kid that CU just got a commit from in Wheat ridge. He's just as good as an athlete, if not better, then the Logan kid. I've been following recruiting for years, since 1999 and rivals /scout inception. I used to really get into it and I jumped right on aboard about the Cally recruiting machine hype and I vowed to never do it again. Sorry to offend you if you're a subscriber, but it is a teen beat magazine and it is what it is. If NU starts winning more on a constant basis it will obviously help.
  3. That always gets me when schools like Florida and USC recruit nationwide after picking whoever they want in their own respective states. Like that isn't enough? At least Texas stays in state somewhat.
  4. I thought he was over hyped anyways. Not fast enough from what I've seen of him. Not a big loss. He plays at the most over hyped catholic school in the state of Colorado, Mullen. But having said that, hopefully Sanders can pull in some of the blue chippers from Cali that we're after. I thought Sanders was a good recruiter?? IF anything, the HEAD COACH was a former safety in college and one would think it would be very easy to get some top notch safety's??
  5. Why give up already CY. I still see a big victory over Mizzou this Saturday in Ames. Pinkles good for it every season and I don't think he's pulled it yet. When was the last time Mizzery has won in Ames?? And I don't care how talented Mizzou is this year or how young the Clones are either. Playing in Ames in November is a pretty tough task. I'm pulling hard for the Clones this weekend and for KU to beat Mizzery in Arrowhead. Hopefully NU wins out as expected then would love to see NU vs. Tech in the CCG in a very cold Arrowhead rematch. Let's see how good that pass offense is in December in the cold. I think NU would win this game.
  6. I REALLY hope some of the young ins at the DT position really step it up this spring time as I'd really like to see Baker play on the O-line. NU hasn't had a dominant O-lineman in a long time. 2001 Fonoti was the last stud.
  7. Oh Man, that's horrible news. Blown out knee to our best defensive recruits. This guy looked good to play next year. Good luck young man and hopefully he gets good advice from the Husker Medical staff about performing the surgery. This sucks. It's always tougher for defensive players to come back from ACLs then offensive skill ones because they know where they're going as the defender is more reactionary. D. Maclin blew out his ACL in camp, that's why he redshirted. He came back fine as a receiver because he doesn't have to back peddle and knows where's he going on his routes. It's much harder for corners and defensive players. I'm not holding my breath on Blue to much either. Can anyone name me a corner/linebacker that came back to good form after blowing out a knee??
  8. I don't care if it's pissing or moaning or whatnot, but after watching the Big 12 this year it's SOOO blatantly obvious the calls are very PRO-OFFENSE. I don't know if there's an agenda to make this a total offensive league or what, but it's there. Yes there are some powerful offenses in this league this year, but the ticky tack PI calls, the lack of holding calls on the 0-line, touch a face mask 15/yards, I could go on and on. I've also watched a lot of PAC 10 games and SEC games, the officiating is night and day different in these leagues. I'm more of a defensive guy and could do without these basketball scores, but if Texas wants the officials to rule it this way, I guess that's how it's gonna be. There's no ifs and buts about it, this league has turned into the PAC 10 of old. The officiating is HORRILBLY one sided.
  9. Yea KU fans, good game, it's over, never ever had anything against you guys but please beat the HELL out of Texas. I hate them and would be thrilled to death to see it. I can't stand KSU put I loved each beating Prince/Snyder put on Texas. KSU owns Texas-weird. OH YEA Hawks, knock the the little bugger eater down too. Can't stand the kid-well he maybe a good kid, but can't stand watching QBs like him and Harrell stand back there and not get touched then they moan about a couple hits-that disgusts me.
  10. Actually I would really love to see Tech make it to the CCG this year in Kansas City. Similar conditions to NU/OU in 2007 or worse, snowy/rainy conditions at Arrowhead. Wonder what that passing offense looks like in those conditions at night??
  11. I got it now, I know who he reminds me of, Bobby Purify from Colorado. Both have very similar strides and didn't look overwhelmingly fast on film/TV, yet defenders didn't make up too much ground on them. Purify, like McBurse also had that somewhat upright running style and knew when to cut back.
  12. I agree. You can never, ever have enough of them. The D-line position alone is what separates the elite teams from all the others. With Tech the exception and I still can't call them an elite team, but they have a pretty good d-line. Just take a look at LSUs/USCs d-lines and you will understand what I mean. I would think we would be recruiting Louisiana harder for D-lineman since they grow them on trees down there and Bo is from there.
  13. McBurse's video looks better to me then D. Robinson's video. But again Robinson is much bigger and plays behind a stacked o-line (worried about that). Also you can't discount the HS numbers he's putting up. Add that to the numbers with QB Cody Green and looks to be an potential excellent backfield. Hopefully the kid likes it here and he wants to play ball at NU. We were really close with Mike Ford from the central Florida area and he's a stud rb at South Florida. I hope we continue getting guys from the Speed state. NU has always done well with Florida guys. I can't think of many that haven't come and not started for us. It's still perplexing to me why you wouldn't want to come to NU to play tailback. While it's not the old school tailback of old, Lucky, B. Jackson, C. Ross are all/will be in the NFL. While C. Buchhalter and A. Green are still playing as well. Only 1 starting NU RB, D. Diedrick, didn't go onto the NFL in like forever. He's up in Canada playing ball though.
  14. T. Lawrence KU B. Lawrence NU Joey Lawrence from Blossom-WHOA!! Their "Hidden" older brother you're not supposed to know about. Sorry, I know, very un-original. WHOA-I just had to say it again!
  15. I honestly believe that it wasn't the right time for him. He's just getting going at Buffalo, and if he can take this kind of team to a few bowls, and does it from the bottom, of the MAC! Then NU might not be the best job Gill is offered! If Gill pulls that off and potentially wins the MAC in the next couple of years it may be too little too late- Some other BCS school will scoop him right up if he pulls that off.
  16. I'm glad you posted this because it's still lingering in the back of my head. And I totally support Bo and will support any HC of NU football forever. Most say TO hired who he thought was the best candidate for the job. Our defense being totally screwed and watching NU turn into a finesse team didn't help. Taking off my red colored glasses makes me see that NU football isn't much different then football in the SEC and other major football machines where big time donors (Cooks) honestly call the shots. Look I know Bo can coach, but still in the back of my mind is did he have impeccable timing while making career moves that were totally stacked in his favor? NU 2003-9 future NFL players started on his defense, T. Johnson, R. Bingham, L. Smith, D. Williams, B. Ruud, TJ Hollowell, Bullocks Brothers, F. Washington. Then moving onto an already stacked OU team then to venture to LSU where the team was stacked. Bo has never been apart of a team less talented then the one he has right now where he is the HC. And this is the part that scares me, he was never known as a good recruiter at OU or at LSU (not that recruiting there is that hard). I don't know if he will ever be able to go toe to toe with Stoops/Brown in Texas, very hard challenge for anyone, but Gill was one of NU's ace recruiters and I feel confident he could roll with those guys. Doesn't hurt that he's from Ft. Worth either. It will be interesting to see what Shannon does at the U. I will also be watching how Gill does as well.
  17. Great picks Cy. Not a man crush here, but you're probably right on up there as one of the best posters on all college football boards. I would love to see you and LSUFreek get together. I was MIA last year during this time frame; I'll be honest, I couldn't stomach the drama unfolding in Lincoln and totally ditched NCAA football for the remaining of the year except watching a couple of the BCS bowl games. I've never done that before. Call me a fair whether Husker fan or whatever (enough was enough for me), but I totally missed this game last year and this one is for you.
  18. Bullsht! You're saying that the jawks are on the same level as TT? Post again when you wake up. Tech is 9-0 overall and on top of the big 12, kansass...........not so much. Never did I say KU is on the same level as TT......but I did say NU's offense will have to put on a performance like they did against TT. That is a highly focused, well executed offensive game plan. No turnovers. It's quite simple. Ugh, I'm a Husker Fan..........just how I see it, could be wrong.............believe me, I'd much rather be talking smack to other teams posters then arguing with my fellow husker fans.
  19. I'm sorry husker fans, but I hate to say it, playing in Lincoln isn't what it once was. You can feel it with the fans. It's kind of like playing in College Station. NU still plays to sloppily on offense that has this many veterans on the team. It's perplexing and a reason for concern (They play like they have a huge weight on their backs to perform is some of it). Joe tries to do to much some times and I think he's watching the other QBs in the league and trying to keep up. NU will have to play balls to the wall as good as a performance they had on offense vs. TT and as good as a performance on D vs. ISU. No small task. KU is coached very well. It's really simple actually, NU loses the turnover battle and they lose this game. NU has been turnover prone all season........IDK??
  20. I'd say to's was better simply because they did stay together. KSU success was great, but to me as big of an accomplishment as it was what TO did with this school (esp in the 90's) is nothing short of amazing. I seriously doubt we will ever see a 5 year period that one team was so dominant Isn't USC getting very, very close to that?? But yes I agree. My glory years was in the 90s; I grew up in high school and college from 1991-1999 so I am especially spoiled rotten and I'm now in my 30s and hate to live in the Glory Days all the time.
  21. Yes, I did miss your point and yes, that is the best case scenario. I was just stating that IMO NU needs that type of coaching staff to have success. Anything less won't cut it for Pelini. He needs the entire staff. Still IMO if Snyder had the staff loyalty like TO did back in the day, I guarantee KSU has an MNC by now. It may piss some huskers off, The Wizard had the greatest coaching staff ever assembled in college football. You don't do something like that at K-State without that. Hopefully Pelini has something close to that??
  22. I don't know quite as much about the Alabama Saban thing, but trying to compare Pelini/Stoops scenario is very dangerous. It's grasping at straws to say the least and HOPING. Hell I hope so to, BUT Stoops didn't do that all by him self. He hired a helluva staff with him (you don't win a MNC in 2 years without that and great talent left behind). Mangino, Leach, Stoops Brothers, all HCs now. I'm not as worried about Pelini as I am about the staff he brought in with him/retained. Did he hire the best possible coaches/recruiters he could or were there too many buddy hires that will get you canned fast?? NU/Pelini needs the best possible staff available to get back. The best/most realistic offense for NU. Anything less and NU won't. We all saw it with McCartney at Colorado and their MNC team. Loaded staff. KSU with Snyder-CRAZY loaded staff to pull off what they did. OU/Stoops and his staff.
  23. This is a culmination effect on the defensive side. New System/New Coaching staff. Lack of speed/depth. Playing 3-4 walk ons on defense that have never sniffed game activity prior (not bagging on walk ons, but they're not playing new mexico state). Playing against the rush huddle offenses vs. OU/Mizzou/TT had their heads spinning/can't even line up for a snap. (In fact we played with 10 guys at the goal line vs. OU on the opening drive.) This isn't playing defense against the Big 10, but playing against the most powerful offensive conference in the NCAA. Practicing against big slow players on the offensive side of the ball. (Doesn't get you better) And Yes, these are Pelini's players. He would never have it any other way. Like the rest of you, I get sick of seeing posts like this. Now maybe he didn't know exactly what he signed up for, but he's finding out now. The million dollar question is what does he do to fix both sides of the ball?? Yes I said both sides.
  24. The thing is and it's obvious in most NU fans eyes, he doesn't have the speed to play at this level. Has horrible vision and balance. He doesn't have the lateral quickness to play LB either at this level. C. Glenn is a much smoother athlete. The only option I see is fullback or transfer. I've been posting this for about the last 3 years witnessing Cally's recruiting philosophy and not taking any of the star bits into account, that entire staff recruited Big 10 style like they were still coaching college football in the 1980s. It's so apparent as you watch this team. All across the board. There's about 3-4 fluid looking/running athletes on this team. Swift, Lucky, Murillo and West. When I'm talking fluid, I mean running smoothly. N. Paul is an example of a player that's running style is broken.
  25. Demorrio was also one of Solich's only 5 star recruits, which he was a JUCO 5 Star. Ya that was the knock on Solich was that he couldn't recruit and while Cally was all about recruiting. The thing is Solich was a superior talent evaluator (recruiting speed) on the defensive side of the ball. He was on the sidelines of all those speedy NU defenses, he just couldn't recruit game changers on offense. Not that Callahan ever did anyways. Cally was off in la la la land with Cozgroves Big 10 model. As soon as I saw Cozgrove move A. Carricker over to D-End after Solich/Pelini were grooming him for D-Tackle that's all I needed to see with their philosophy. And after 4 years of that along with the WCO conversion from the Option and you have the defensive fall out that we have to day. Pelini will need ample time to build this defense.
