  1. That's fine and that's your opinion, however ask me why so many paying RSS members check out timm_mmays recruiting posts in the threads on the free board?? Going as far as blasting the guy and that he should be blacklisted from the free board because they are paying for their subscriptions/info. Let me guess you pay for one of the services and feel you're getting ripped off??? As for the decommit thing today, these posts in the past couple weeks had absolutely nothing to do with this kid decommitting. It had everything to do with the staff not working and or some coaches not holding up to their end of the bargain. It has nothing to do with K. Terry......well maybe now it will??? As for Gilmore, ask yourself this, do you want a guy that can't recruit/sell worth a lick being the lead salesman (recruiting coordinator) of your football program??? More importantly as a manager overseeing these duties, what clout does he honestly have over these coaches when it comes to this department?? How can he make them recruit when he can't recruit himself??
  2. Answer me this Jen, I've never understood why a poster that doesn't have any interest in the subject, regardless of BBS, still feels it to be necessary to post comments??? Simple, if you have no interest in a thread topic, why even open the thread up or go there?? Leg me guess, put 2 + 2 together, you require a TON of attention in real life?? Just like this thread, it's about the recruiting aspects of an NU wr recruit yet somehow you twist it to revolve around YOU!! Oye ve......... Now back to NU recruiting.
  3. [quote name='teachercd' date='Jul 31 2009, 01:54 PM' post='448135' YOu mean HuskerTimOmaha and Timm_mmay, those guys are insane and love freaking out!! I will give you that HTO is a little over the top (huge NU fan), however timm_mmay is spot on. He posts things just as he sees fit, no agenda, no info lording, no bashing. He does not freak out. Both of these guys are very much in the know, especially timmmmay, they know more then the rivals/scouts beat writers do about what's going on in the back scenes. People called HTO out hard core a couple weeks ago about some of his posts regarding recruiting, well all the naysayers are hiding in the bushes now. There are some serious problems with this coaching staff regarding recruiting and it starts with the main man. Employing an incompetent recruiting coordinator doesn't help. And to the comment about one of the coaches (JP) just having a baby, this guy is one of the few that is really out there busting his balls recruiting. See Curtis Carter for example.
  4. I've never listened to their show, maybe that was their little media hook to keep their listeners waiting for more and to create some buzz????
  5. Better yet, let's hope NU wins the Big 12 in 2010 and Castille and Helu have 2 big years in 2009/10. B. Cotton's group will be key for this to happen. They HAVE to develop.
  6. Hey Maudfather, I don't think this guy is a KU fan, I think he's an Okie lite fan. Or a mixture of both, dunno. He likes to point out Bill Young and him being the next DC at Okie Lite. I've seen some posts of his on other boards and just drew the conclusion. Ya KU drubbed us 2 times in Lawrence, and Okie Lite gave it to us in 2007 when NU absolutely and utterly quit prior to one of the most drama filled weeks than I can ever remember, but please, even KSU and Buff fans have some hardware to prove their medal. OSU will forever be lost in the south and KU better strike this year.
  7. Again, why is there a thread, updates for a guy that NU hasn't even offered??? Or not even recruiting?? See above comment!!
  8. He's Jay Moore's cousin from Florida. His father played for NU in the 80s. He already has a crapload, 20+ schollys, offered to him and he'll probably end up being like Aaron Green in the 2011 class but as an OL recruit. 5 star material possibly.
  9. Thought this was the guy that was going to commit this weekend. According to LSHusker, maybe not?? Don't know much about this kid, him and the Moudy kid from DC come from powerhouse HSs here in the Denver Metro area. However these are extreme suburbs, aka urban sprawl. The Centennial league used to be the most competitive league in the state, (Cherry Creek, Mullen, Overland, Grandview, Smokey Hill and the Boulder Schools), but now the south metro schools are starting to dominate. Thunderidge, Bonnell's school just moved up to 5A last year, and they did exceedingly well lasting far into the playoffs. Previously they won like 3 straight state titles in 4A. Thunderidge along with DC (Moudy's school) are pure running teams and they play each other. Both kids HCs are some of the top of the state, not coincidentally they live in some of the most affluent areas in the Denver Metro.
  10. I guess different strokes for different folks. Honestly you can't tell me watching Oregon, Florida or Utah's offense is boring as hell, just on the contrary, those 3 schools have some of the most exciting offenses in all of CFB. And all 3 are productive as hell. I can't stand Oregon or Florida, but I love watching those teams just because of their spread option based running attack. See TO's offense in the 1998 Orange Bowl and tell me that wasn't exciting. Mizzery has handed NU and the rest of the north it's ass except KU, hmmmm, both schools run a version of this offense. I would venture to say if KU had better athletes, same outcome. NU needs the spread option running attack ala Oregon/Florida yesterday.
  11. Well Watson better coach them up good in being able to avoid the rush because when NU plays the better teams that can easily shut down our average WRs, they'll be scrambling. If the Robinson kid had committed I would feel much better about the direction this offense would be evolving into. (IF Watson bolts, Gabbert will as well) Face it, NU has had 2 WR's drafted in the NFL in the past 20+ years and BOTH were QBs (Newcombe, Crouch). Even with Cally, Watson and Gilmore pimping the WCO to potential recruits, still nada. That's the problem, right there. NU for all intensive purposes has no reason not to be running a spread option offense based running attack. You see Oregon, similar to NU in regards to recruiting grounds, flourish year after year running this. See Utah as well. Finally Florida and it's plethora of talent in the sunshine state takes this offense and in 3 years at helm, Meyer pulls down 2 MNCS. Don't you not see something fundamentally wrong when Florida is running this offense and NU is running a pro style?? This offense, the NU offense, is NOT a good fit for NU. I'll be anxious to see what Old Balls (Snyder's) offense looks like at KSU in the coming years.
  12. I don't know about the growth spurt deal, but Tyler does look very young. Tyler is also turning 18 next month, for some he should be in the class of 2009. Cody Green is only a couple months older then T. Gabbert. I'd be inclined to think he's done growing and hopefully he is a legit 6'. That's besides the point, I still can't figure out which direction this staff/Watson wants to go regarding the type of QB they want?? OR which direction they want the offense to go?? WCO, Spread, Spread option based running attack, I guess they just call it the Nebraska O, whatever that is. Lee is a dual threat. Spano, from reports, is Not. L. Washington is a dual threat. C. Green is a dual threat. Tyler Gabbert is Not.
  13. To top it off, the constant belittling Elmo was doing to the corners was very damaging. This is a position on the football field where you need extreme confidence in your abilities and moreover support from your coach. Grixby and Jones both had great hips and athleticm to play the position, I to can't help but wonder what they would have turned out like if Sanders/Brothers Pelini had coached them.
  14. I just picture this Jen head shot on this husker body shot adding her knowledge of husker football, and football in general, the best of all worlds.
  15. I agree. It seems like this could be pretty effective. Hopefully this will spell an end to this "get to the line and look to the sidelines" type of offenses. It's never really sat well with me. It works obviously, but it seems like some sort of video game manuever. Ever since I've seen this thing progress throughout this conference and full blown go out of control last season, I've hated it. I understand the theory/advantage behind it, but C'mon, pee wee football players, HS football players run the play that is called. For example, Mizzery, KU, OSU, OU all have experienced seniors playing for them and you see their players run to line up, look over to the OC for the call. Hmmm, I guess they don't want their players/QB's to think for themselves about audibling into a different play, right or wrong. The players can never learn. Just think when they're done with football, out in the workforce, where's the OC to make the call??? That's why me, as a GM would never spend a high draft pick on a QB in this league. Also if I had a blue chip QB son he goes to a school where the coaches allow the QB's to make their own decisions on audibles, right or wrong, live and learn and get better as a player. I think Nebraska, Texas, Colorado, Prince were the only teams that allowed their Qbs to think. Gundy's billboard crap is horse sh!t.
  16. What is puzzling to me is that back in the day TO did this but vice versa, they came in and gave QB a shot then changed on over to play safety or another spot on D. It usually worked out quite well. Just taking one look at that photo it's very apparent L. Washington is very chiseled and built to play LB. He has the ideal size/speed/athleticm to play LB, perplexing is all I can say.
  17. Just wanted to say thanks Pete for all your work on these threads. You and street novelist, Big Willie when it gets to prime time season. It's got to feel like a chore sometimes, but here's a Husker fan that appreciates it. I'm sorry, I would love to be a paying member on HI, or one of the pay sites, but personally it goes against my principles in pimping these kids words on updates. Don't mean to offend those that pay, it's just me. Yes I follow recruiting, but I drew the line when ToughTonyDavis.com switched from a free recruiting update site to HI/Rivals/Yahoo pay site. I won't feed the beast.
  18. The deal with P. Dillard is there are better players in front of him plain and simple. He is just too slow to play LB at the D1 level. Stoops and Co. were right, given his frame and propensity to gain weight, he should've been redshirted and bulked up to play DT in college. Chalk this one up for Boo Blake wooing Dillard to play LB. As for the big name rumor a month or so back that people were floating around about quitting the team, this was my guess.
  19. Hopefully the kid can find some position to contribute before he's done. When true freshman walk on LBs start over you as a sophomore, might as well try something else. Would love to see him play at the speed D-End position, but if he doesn't have that killer mentality to play LB, forget about playing on the D-line.
  20. IMO-Bryce Brown made a horrible decision to go to Tennessee and their "NFL/USC" rebuilding experiment that will be going on during his college career. They have serious O-line/QB problems and he will get ate alive going up against SEC defenses. The key to USC's team is they get the best of the best at all positions, hence the reason why they run a pro system, UT isn't in the same class. He was hook line and sinkered by Kiffin and his NFL deal. He's my kid, no if ands or butts, he's running the ball for Oregon in their spread/option based running attack that is well established and one of the top offenses in CFB. Year after year they churn out NFL caliber Rb's that go on to the league. Gawd I hate Oregon, but I truly envy their offensive system. There is absolutely no reason NU should not be running a system very similar to Oregons/Floridas. Hopefully in 3-4 years Frosty will be ready to come back to NU to run the offense- I CAN'T WAIT!!
  21. They can legally drink in Fayetteville, of legal age?? Damn, the one and only time I've ever been in that state, half the towns were "dry" counties it seemed. A new experience and meaning to the word for my vocabulary. There were literal modern day, 2005, bootleggers selling alcohol and beer out of their garages. At a "get together", notice I didn't use the word party, alcohol ran out FASTTTTTT, so we had to drive 2 hours north to the Mizzery border to buy more booze. The bootleggers were out of product! They love Busch lite down there!
  22. They need to be ready yesterday, they're on the 2-deep playing the most difficult position on the football field. I trust in Carl, hopefully he can get these young ins ready to roll.
  23. I just want to know if in the spring game the green shirts are on the QBs?? I know in today's CFB you have to have them, but if NU really is moving to more of a spread/option running game remember the QB takes hits. I can't believe I just typed that, like you guys don't know.
  24. As for those that what to see Lee start because he's been in the system for 2 years I guess we'll see how good he is as the guy that was backing him up at San Fran JC (Masoli) took Oregon to a 10-3 record walking straight on to campus in his first semester last year. To be quite honest with you I care more about the guys replacing Murtha and Slauson. I will always be more concerned about the O-line. I still have my qualms about the reality of this offense at NU. If it's true that it takes multiple years to grasp this offense then that is a problem. You see it all over CFB true freshman coming in and starting/making immediate impacts and i won't even get into the fact that NU can't recruit star wrs. I like Watson and think he's a good coach, but that Oregon guy, their system, can take any kind of QB, pro style or dual threat and it doesn't miss a beat.
  25. How does one make this assessment when the internet/college recruiting sites weren't invented yet when TO coached?? Unless you were a previous member of TO's coaching staff then I'll take you word on it. Questioning a recruits character is a touchy subject. For TO's godly status, he still coached football players and he had his fair share of prima donna players that people on today's message boards either label them as such or have character issues.
