  1. I am not putting hopes of a National Championship away, and I don't think the Oklahoma loss was the nail in the coffin by any means. If Oklahoma State wins out, I think they will rise close in the poll just as much as a one-loss Oklahoma would have. Ultimately, we still need the undefeated teams to lose a game, and I don't think that's impossible. There's so much more football left to be played.
  2. Coverage map just came out....only the Big 12 States are pretty much getting the Neb-Iowa St game

  3. I know it's not the same, but if you keep a box of that powdered milk in your cupboard it's not bad in a pinch. Am I missing the point of your post?
  4. Oklahoma was as close to our conference equal as there was in the Big 8. I think with the last few years of Husker dominance Osborne approached and might of even surpassed .500 against the Sooners. I wouldn't call that miserable, although the first years of the Osborne era had some forgettable games against them. Much like us with Texas.
  5. During the 1996 CCG vs Texas, I remember how he kept saying in his overly dramatic tone, "And Texas leads for the 2nd time today!" "And Texas leads for the 3RD TIME TODAY!" And so on and so forth. Don't hate him. Nor do I think he's anti-Nebraska. Actually don't mind him when Nebraska is winning, but can't stand to listen to him when Nebraska is losing. But that can go for a lot of people.
  6. While so many other posts in this thread deserve this as well, yours takes the cake:
  7. HAHA! Why do I get the feeling that Bo doesn't respond well to fan petitions?
  8. I bet Dan Beebe is behind this! He told the networks to not pick this game up. Let's get him!
  9. To be quite honest, I agree with you. I compiled the apparent irrelevant statistics as just a way of seeing if anything could be statistically proven as far as conspiracy goes or is against. I don't that the irrelevant difference I came up with is enough to prove for sure that there is a conspiracy against the Big Red. Just wanted something for people to chew on I guess.
  10. Like the prediction, and the opponents for that matter, although I'll be disappointed slightly if we don't make a BCS game. It's so funny seeing Baylor up on the list of bowls. Good for them though! Do you think if we win out the rest of the regular season, but lose to Oklahoma in the CCG we will make a BCS game? I would think so.
  11. Well then, pray tell, what officials did work those games? And also, the actual penalties vs those called/not called is almost impossible to tell since it's all in the eye of the beholder. I was only giving statistics that I could compile so that people could make a reasonable conclusion. If one doesn't want to use them or find them "irrelevant" than all the more power to them.
  12. Disclaimer: I am only putting statistics on this page. I am doing this to neither support nor deny the argument that the Big 12 officials are out to screw Nebraska. What I did was compile a total of opponents' penalties vs. Nebraska against their season average. One would think if the refs are out to screw Nebraska, there would be fewer penalties called against the Husker's opponents in their games against Nebraska vs. the season average. While there are more ways than just calling penalties to screw a team over (not calling fumbles correctly), this may serve as an indication. To read this: It is team name followed by yards penalized against Nebraska followed by average yards penalized per game this season (in bold) Western Kentucky vs NU 51 yards season avg 48 yards Idaho vs NU 15 yards season avg 78.4 yards Washington vs NU 15 yards season avg 52.6 yards South Dakota St vs NU 73 yards season average 57.9 yards Kansas State vs NU 30 yards season average 41.1 yards Texas vs NU 53 yards season average 65.5 yards Oklahoma St vs NU 84 yards season average 70.6 yards Missouri vs NU 40 yards season average 55 yards Comments: In all but 2 games this year, Nebraska's opponents have been penalized less than their average penalties per yards per game. Nebraska's opponents for the season average 58.64 penalty yards per game, however, when those same opponents play the Huskers they get penalized an average of 45.13 yards per game. A difference of 13.51 yards per game. Remember though that the season average includes those games the games that were played against Nebraska. That would bring the average penalty yardage per game for 6 of these 8 teams down even lower if you exclude that game (which in hindsight, probably would have been a good idea in my calculations.) So as I see it, you can come to one of two conclusions, one that the refs are slightly biased against Nebraska, the other being that teams all of the sudden play more disciplined when they play Nebraska.
  13. I'm not so sure Oregon is a sure bet to finish undefeated. They still have Arizona and Oregon State to play. I think the chances of Boise State finishing undefeated are better than Oregon's, IMO. Regardless of where they end up, if Nebraska ends up winning out and going to a BCS game, I think that would be a remarkable accomplishment for this team.
  14. Photoshop out the handful of Missouri fans, and that's an awesome pic!
  15. What exactly do you want? Do you want every BS call that went against Nebraska to simply be overlooked because we beat Missouri's ass? You are entirely unrealistic here. I want you to recognize that there is no conspiracy. If we both took the time to put together a tape of all the BS calls we felt went against our teams this year, they would not be substantially different. Bad calls happen all the time. The suspension was unexpected, yes, but that had more to do with the NFL, in my opinion. And, I would be willing to bet we see another suspension this year. Right, because Missouri Fan would never complain that there was a Big XII conspiracy against them, like in the allotment of bowl bids, right? You can be the pot or the kettle. Whichever you choose doesn't matter, because you're just as guilty as the rest. Too bad this board wasn't around in 1997 following the Nebraska-Missouri game. Could you imagine the Tigger fans' uproar?
  16. It was hard to determine the level of noise on the television. The oh-so talented and unbiased announcers never mentioned crowd noise (maybe I missed it!). But it's great to hear Memorial Stadium was rocking.
  17. At least you will never have to deal with us again minus a possible bowl game if we descend to your guys' level, which I doubt anytime in the near future. Trust me, we are equally as pleased. The Bell stays in Nebraska! See ya at Tiggerboard!
  18. I apologize if this was asked in the 6 page thread that already is discussing the suspension, but is there a precedent for the conference to suspend a player for a hit on the field. And actually, besides this incident with the Big XII, is it common for other conferences to do this?
  19. What I usually do when I can't stand the commentators is find the Internet feed...pause it for a few seconds so the television catches up the radio, mute the television and viola! No more d-bag commentators. Now if I can only mute my obnoxious brother-in-law.
  20. It would be a lot like the Dr. Lou segments on ESPN. A LOT like them!
  21. Fro, I did see highlights of the game and did more than just look at the box score. I was aware of those 2 long plays but didn't realize they accumulated for such a large percentage of the SDSU..err better say San Diego State running that night. Seeing those plays, I agree that Missouri needs to watch for the big plays. Missouri has an outstanding D-Line as shown by their excellent red zone defense. I still think if the Huskers have success it will be from long running plays similar to how they scored against Kansas State. This is where not watching a game and looking at a box score can sometimes throw you off. SDSU is a good runing team. #35 in the country, 185+ a game, nearly 6 yrds a carry. Pretty good. But their game against MU came down to 2 plays. A fluke run when in a rugby scrum a OL grabed and discuss spun the RB out of the pile and he went to the house. The other was just a bad play by Mu and one of the few times they were undisiplined. Two tigers had a chance to stop the play for no gain or 1 yard and both got out of control and lowerd their heads. Those 2 plays accounted for 168 yrds. Outside of that SDSU ran for 82 yrds on 31 trys. SDSU could not run the ball the entire night. Now here is the BUT.....MU did make the mistake on the 75 yarder. They havent made many this year, but NE has the players to make you pay if you do. The 97 yarder was a fluke play if I have ever seen one. A play like that may never happen again in my lifetime. Nu's best shot is to be balanced. Same with MU. Should be a good game
  22. We should have a thread where all the Missouri trolls can just post--delete if they try to break up any kind of serious thread. I kind of enjoyed reading the comments and voting for "troll of the year."
  23. Disagree on Auburn. They barely beat Kentucky. Kentucky is 4-4 this year. I think they won by 3 and they had to go to OT to beat Clemson. No way they should be ranked #1. They leap frogged four spots. The BCS is a sham. But nowadays in college football, a win is a win, no matter how ugly it is. Every team is going to have that one game against a mediocre opponent that they should have blown out and just barely escaped with a win. Oregon will have one soon unless you want to say their 11 point victory against Arizona State wasn't quality enough.
  24. The only way we lose this is if we have a SDSU/Texas like offensive night. I would hope we are past those with those 2 performances, but I guess we just don't know. San Diego State had success running the ball against Missouri, and I would hope our offense is better than theirs. I think we run, and if that doesn't work pass it. But definitely run first in my opinion.
