But, Lee has been around awhile learning the ins and outs. I think that can only help his chances to succeed.

Back when USC wasn't much and Notre Dame was all that, we were at a sports bar in Omaha during the ND/USC game. There were some really obnoxious ND fans, so I started cheering for USC, and in very obnoxious fashion, mimicking their behavior. Truth was, I couldn't have cared any less about who won, but it was still fun making a point.

1. Penn State I'm not big on hating teams, but living amongst the enemy has cultivated the hatred pretty strongly. 2. Any north team with recent success that goes to their heads. (ISU is the exception. At least for now. Don't push it, Cy.) Edit: 3. Pitt. Not because I dislike them but because PSU spurned my nephew so he went to Pitt instead. Since the subject came up, and I am relatively new here, I will now ask why there is a separate forum for Big 12 topics. I would say that all Big 12 topics either directly or indirectly apply to Husker football. JMO, though.

doesn't the U make some dough when they do PPV also? I just wish that for 30 bucks you got a better picture quality. Yes, they make somewhere in the neighborhood of 1/2 mil (give or take 100K), or something like that. That's not always the goal, though. The "exposure" is a good thing, and I don't mean the kind of exposure that applies to a previous coach, who was exposed.

While I do appreciate any coverage on tv, paid or not, I wonder if TO didn't jump the gun and make these PPV arrangements a little too early. Is there an option with scheduled PPV games to get network coverage of some sort if there is an interest from said network(s)?

It's soooo not the same as watching it live!! Is there a sports bar in or around the airport where you can duck in and watch until halftime? If not, then give them the necessary $$ to get to your place on their own. This is a Husker game, for God's sake. You only get 13-14 times a year to see them. Priorities, man, priorities! It's not the same - it's better. I typically let the game run for a good hour or so before I watch so I can skip past the commercials. I hate how they break up the game with commercial breaks, ESPECIALLY the ever-popular "TD is scored - Two-Minute Commercial Break - Kickoff - Two-Minute Commercial Break - Series starts," and it's even worse when that next series is three-and-out and they go to commercial again after the punt. You'll have six to seven minutes of commercials for maybe two minutes of game time. I really dislike commercials. I understand and agree to an extent, but how can you not be the least bit curious how they're doing during the hour you wait? The suspense would literally kill me. Husker games are the only thing I can't watch on DVR, until after I've seen it the first time around in it's entirety. The commercials are great times to check out what's going on in other important games around the country. I use that commercial time very productively.

Well, in sker's defense, maybe the flight was booked when the game was still on a saturday. If not, then I agree with Okieland - disown them. Or make them stay at a hotel.

I liked the article as it confirmed everything I thought about the kid, maturity-wise. However, I remain cautious on putting legend status on him just yet. Remember last year when Darrell Scott was actually placed on some preseason all-American lists before he even hit campus? How'd that work out for him?

They're usually stupid so I don't remember them. But, one memorable non-Husker game sign I saw was something along the lines of, "Kansas Football: Tradition since September 2007".

Cy, I have to give you props for your debating skills, but unfortunately I have to somewhat side with the Jayhawks on this one. But just a little. I see Southern Miss as a great team on the rise, not unlike the Huskers. They finished up last year on a high note after struggling a bit earlier in the season with a first year head coach. I know a lot of outlets have the USM @ KU game on upset alert already. I don't know that I would go so far to do that, but I do think it may have some Jayhawks pushing a little panic button. USM is a good team. They have 19 starters coming back, with some weapons returning on offense that could do some damage if they play the way they are capable. Also, check out this link to Phil Steele's tidbits from 2008, under the top section (Most Touchdowns). It got my attention about USM the first time I saw it several months ago. Bottom line is that I would not even begin to describe Southern Miss as a cupcake.

Seems like he has the demeanor of Bob and the morals of Tom. Pretty good combo I'd say.

My thoughts on the matter are that we still have yet to see a turning point. The team did well down the stretch last year, with the exception of 1 quarter in Norman, but I was left wanting and needing to see a little more. They were just learning how to really practice and really play, so I was very pleased with the progress. But, nothing was really impressive to me at all. However, I am expecting even more progress this year, regardless of wins and losses. It seems like every player report I see or hear has them saying all the right things and in the right ways. The attitudes and culture are rapidly changing for the better and I can't wait to see how it all plays out on the field this year. Three weeks to go and that is just too long! Even as a kid around Christmas, it was never this painful waiting 3 weeks to open presents. Now pass me the damned kool-aid and keep it flowing.

Was it my imagination, or was Kinsgbury crying on the sideline when the game was over? Oh, and remember the good old days, when we held teams to 31 points?
