  1. it's about nebraska. letting you know you have no chance of wining down there now. You're right, there's no chance of the Huskers wining there. However, there's a very good chance of them winning the road game at Baylor. Thought I'd help clear that up.
  2. One thing I noticed is that MU isn't currently favored in any game listed on the Games of the Year section. But, you are right, too little is known right now for any sensible person to really predict.
  3. oh yeah, and check this place out for all known cfb tv schedules. http://www.lsufootball.net/tvschedule.htm They do a nice job of keeping up and it will tell you when things are picked up by ESPN or another channel. None of the stations have the entire season set in stone, and some decisions regarding televising a game aren't made for at least two weeks before a game. If it's only ESPN/ABC you're concerned about, you can always check here: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/schedules
  4. Personally, if you're only getting it for a possible Husker game, save your money. I don't think a single game was on Gameplan last year. Maybe 1 or two from the year before. Plus, I think you can buy individual saturdays rather than a whole season, in the off chance that they might go back to seeing regional coverage of Husker games on ABC/ESPN. However, if you're getting it because you're a college football junkie and need every possible game available to you (except PPV), then by all means, it's worth it. But, a word of caution - in the past, the broadcasts have not been in HD, and sometimes quite terrible quality. Still, it's offers more variety/choice than what you get locally. I just found out that my ISP is finally allowing ESPN360 through, so this will be the first year in I don't know how long that I won't be spending money on it, since I'm more than willing to watch things on my computer instead.
  5. I'm not advocating betting, because I have never (and probably never will), but do find it interesting to see what perceptions are. If this topic is against board rules, please delete. You can navigate through this page for their "Games of the Year", or just go to the unformatted page for them. Quite a few Husker games listed: Underdog by 7 @ VT Favorite by 3 @ MU Favorite by 7 vs TT Underdog by 9.5 vs OU Underdog by 1 @ KU Favorite by 3 @ CU
  6. This one ranks Nebraska #22, from the NY Times. Side note - they give a list of Husker sites, and this site is the first mentioned.
  7. Pretty much what I'm thinking, too. I don't bet, but if I did, I think I'd plunk down $ on the under. If the over is achieved, I think it will mean the Husker defense isn't up to the challenge, and that would hurt my heart.
  8. and to the last two posts. I am drinking heavy amounts of koolaid right now, playing all the great things the team is going to do in my head, and hoping/praying they live up to my near impossible expectations. Yee haw!
  9. Coach Red Bull makes me want to suit up and rip someone's head off right this minute.
  10. I know what you mean with that first week. We don't live in the area, but I'm debating on whether to buy the PPV or go to the watch site at a sports bar. I think I'd have more of a chance of seeing other games on a 2nd tv than if I watched the Huskers at the sports bar. But, then again, sitting home by ourselves isn't as fun as watching with other area Huskers. What to do, what to do!
  11. Once again, just more meaningless junk to talk about until September 5th. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/powerranking...amp;season=2009 Who'd have guessed that Pat Forde, an MU grad, would conveniently leave off both KU and NU from his ballot. Not surprising! (What is surprising is that he didn't rank MU either). Reese Davis had no Big 12 North representative at all. Time for both NU and KU to prove these two jerks are mistaken.
  12. The Quad Countdown: #24, Utah. and, in case it is of any interest, they're at #24 today, and the Huskers still have not been listed. Meanwhile, our other North division foes have already gotten their ranking/review. 32. Kansas 43. Colorado 53. Missouri 70. Kansas State 112. Iowa State (Ouch!) The rest is here.
  13. Sure, it could happen - ANYthing can happen. (Any given saturday), but go check Stoops' record after the Red River game. For that matter, check Mack Brown's record as well. Now, I will say they play maybe a little less intensely after the RRR, being emotionally and physically spent, but W/L the week after that game traditionally is not in favor of OU (or UT's) opponent. However, this could be a first. A first one has to start somewhere, right? I would normally root for the 'hawks in a game like this, but sorry, not this year. Seems like a 50/50 split from the media, etc, on NU/KU winning the north. Not rooting for KU to get a conference win this year.
  14. Yeah!!!! I wish Brown was both TE/WR coach, though. Churchy or not, Ron Brown is just flat out awesomeness. Alright, boys, practice your guts out, literally, and let's get this season underway.
  15. There was a video once on Huskers.com that showed an interview of Dobson, I think it was Greg Sharpe as part of the Bo Pelini coaches show. It showed this form of torture. Even more horrifying was that they mentioned a couple of players do them even when they aren't being punished. I just can't seem to find that video now, though. I'll keep looking - it was pretty interesting.
  16. Your right. Dont fall asleep on Phillip. he may surprise us. Only if you believed Phil was ever the 5th best LB on the team. I don't care what load Bo was feeding the media, Dillard is our most physicaly imposing and experienced LB. It would be a mistake not to utilize a 5th year senior of his caliber. A mistake right up there with the way NU utilized Bobby Newcombe during his senior year. I suspect this "demotion" had more to due with keeping a spark lit under his backside, and to instill a sense in the rest of the team (especially the D) that if you didn't give 100% effort you could easily lose your spot to the next guy. Ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes on the winning answer! That was exactly the case. And thank God it's working so far. I'd hate for this guy to flame out in his senior year. He still might, but by all indications, it appears that he won't go out without a good fight.
  17. I think it would be cute - as long as your daughter is "down" with it. Are you going in matching outfits?
  18. Why do I see Kansas fans keep saying things like, "You're not the Nebraska of the 90's"? Correct - we are not the Nebraska of the 90's - it's absurd to even assume we're not aware of that, but please realize we're also not Nebraska under Callahan either now. That seems to be what many of you can't get past. Recent history in your stadium means very little right now, other than a few handful of leftover players that played in one or both of those two games Callahan coached in Lawrence, who were taught to do things differently, by different people, than they are now. In much the same way, you would not compare the Jayhawks under Allen to the Jayhawks under Mangino. Would you? Did Mangino improve KU's program after Allen left? Damn straight, he did. Aren't the Jayhawks playing at the highest level they ever have in recent memory? Damn straight, they are. Do you think that can only be unique to Kansas where a bad coach is replaced with a better one and gets the team playing better than before? You're kidding yourself if you think only Kansas can pull that off. You hired a good coach in Mangino, and he knows how the college game must be played and the effort that must be given to achieve goals. But, guess what - we hired such a man, too. PS. I'm sorry if our defense featuring several walk-ons and a converted linebacker gave up too many yards to the Jayhawks last year. We promise to do better next time.
  19. Get it here! I love the team's attitude this year. Yeah, they probably have the same attitude at the start of every year, but there IS a different mindset to go along with the attitude this year, and that is well documented.
  20. I heard Joc "going for 2000" Crawford transferred out of Kansas - I had no idea he was a Husker now.
  21. He was at fan day, so he's definitely with the team.
  22. So, they think the 16th ranked team is going to have "8 or 9 wins"? Interesting. I don't believe an 8 or 9 win team ever got ranked 16th, but honestly haven't done my research.
  23. Dear God, all I ask is for that "consistency" to be found earlier than it happened last year. I'd like to enter conference play knowing what we're capable of.
  24. Still mad at Josh Brown for what hopefully is an obvious reason.
