  1. August 8, 2009, 10:00 AM Central, Husker Practice according to http://ath-cybersports.unl.edu/nebraskafb/index.cfm
  2. I would win a kool-aid chugging contest at this point, I'm just sure of it.
  3. Husker Helmet History http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ov_LOAsygOI
  4. For every one of those examples, I can throw out others in the opposite vein such as USC, UT, OU, etc. Programs who were on top of the CFB world, stubbed their toes for quite awhile, and now have returned to a close fascimilie of their former selves. I didn't say there weren't counter examples, just that sometimes the end is the end. While I agree that sometimes the end is the end, what I see in common with those who stubbed toes and made another run is that first, they get the right coaching staff in place, and second they make the commitment to get better. Some of the schools mentioned as powerhouses turned doormat, have neither the right coach nor the commitment, at least not at the moment. I do believe Nebraska has made the commitment, and Pelini does seem like he might be the right coach. I like, nay, love, the difference he's made so far, but jury's still out on just how good he'll be, and if he's "the one".
  5. K-State Fans: Snyder has integrity and there is nothing wrong with what he did, in fact, it's common practice. It's just a glitch in accounting practices amounting to poor documentation, but it's valid. How long before he's ousted and they have to face reality that he is NOT the savior, nor does he have integrity?
  6. Well said! I think a lot of poor fan behavior anywhere can be attributed to alcohol. There are plenty of reasons for poor behavior, but I'm guessing that is a big portion of it.
  7. I'll have to go back and re-watch the VT game because I never came away with the impression that it was a "should have" win. In my distant memory, the score was closer than how I remember the game going. I know there was the chance they could have pulled it off towards the end, but it was sort of "desperation" time. Maybe I have a skewed memory.
  8. I've known about that schedule for awhile and it doesn't make it any easier to swallow. D1AA scheduling? With all due respect to KU and MU (and no due respect to KSU), that looks more like their scheduling tactics. I had to verify that Idaho wasn't also a D1AA school since it seems like they should be. My question is when was Western Ky scheduled? They have only recently moved up to D1A, so it's possible that the last regime knowingly scheduled two D1AA teams. How the heck do we go from playing USC and VT to this? I'll take the wait and see approach with Washington, maybe Montana is the second coming of his pops, but the rest of it is pure junk.
  9. Just for kicks, if the Huskers got a do-over for a game from 2008, which one would it be? My choice: Oklahoma. I would be curious to see how the Huskers would fare with a different first quarter. I'd like to think they'd have made it a little more respectable, but who knows, maybe it would have been even worse!
  10. If you guys think TTech is so bad, why is UT/ESPN getting the game moved up to before the OU game? So that they can beat a pre-mature ranked Tech team to boost their SOS, because everyone knows Tech won't be ranked at the end of the season after losing all their payback road games to OSU, UT, NU, Baylor... I fail to see a single post that says anything about Texas Tech, good or bad. Not a single one. You are the only one who felt the need to single them out and discuss them specifically. No one even had them near the bottom of the list. What color is the sky in your world?
  11. Bad idea! I wonder how long it will last, though. By the 12th game of the season against NU, they may have already abandoned it.
  12. Marlon you ignorant slut. I'm not sure I follow this. Are you saying Marlon Lucky pulled the same thing? If so, I was unaware as I'm relatively new to message boards and using the internet to get Husker info, and I live out of the state. If that's not what you're implying, please 'splain.
  13. kiwi - when you feel like you've gotten enough of a taste of everything listed here, then head over to "Big Red Wrap-up". It's got about an hour long recap video of each and every regular season football game played since 1999, with in-studio interviews with players, sports writers and whoever else they can get to talk to them. The link: http://netdb.unl.edu/bigredwrapup/ In more recent years they have a few extra videos each year for discussing recruiting, pre-season outlooks, spring games, and bowl games. On the initial page you'll see the first one of the year, and the schedule for the rest. At the bottom you can link to previous years. I hit that site every now and again in the off-season and watch a couple from previous years. Time permitting, you might want to hit the Coaches Special near the bottom of this page from 2007 first, since it "introduces" our new coaching staff: http://netnebraska.org/television/sports/b...chive_2007.html If you're in Omaha in September, you'll be able to catch it on TV, otherwise you can also see it live over the internet (or on-demand of the archived shows, of course). I also don't believe anyone specifically mentioned http://www.huskers.com/ which is the University's official website for Athletics. In addition, go to Youtube and look for "Blackshirts" -- that'll keep you entertained for a long while.
  14. Dang it, there are no pictures yet of Seung Hoon Choi, our #77 player. 77 = number of days until the first game. Counting down till practice at least gives us the next thing to look forward to sooner than the first game.
  15. This many days until fall practice starts:
  16. Now there's a prediction I can learn to love in under 2 seconds, but the post is worthless without tables, charts and graphs!
  17. wasn't there a guy from Ohio State a number of years that took classes like GOLF during the summer to get himself eligible?
  18. newearth - VT will be ranked when we play them. I think most places will have them top 10, or at worst, top 15. If they lose to higher or similarly ranked Alabama, they won't be dropping that far.
  19. Christian Suntrup Linkage Link above isn't working - I think it's this: http://nationalunderclassmen.ning.com/vide...ip-12-chaminade
  20. I haven't read it, but sounds like I must! I did go to jasonpeter.com last night and listen to archives of some of his interviews. The first few interviews were great. Then, I hit a couple where it was obvious the interviewers never even opened the book. It was incredibly irritating because it sounded like they thought they were going to get some big expose on the University of Nebraska and TO. And, when they didn't get it, they pretty much cut him short. If you're going to interview someone about their book, shouldn't you have at least read a chapter or two?
  21. I really should have held my rant until it was confirmed OFFICIALLY, though. Aren't there several summer sessions of courses he could be enrolled in? I guess I will really wait to see on this one because it could change if he straightens up, flies right, and passes his summer classes with high enough grades.
  22. If true, my God, WTF?! How selfish. Again, if true, words can't express how disappointed in him I am. I knew he was walking on a thin line, but g'damn it, GO TO CLASS. You have a full ride scholarship to a fine D1 university, a chance to be a part of something bigger than yourself, and a ticket to the NFL for the taking. Don't pi$$ it away because you can't be bothered to open a book for a few hours a week. There is no excuse for being academically ineligible with all the extra resources major universities dedicate to make sure the athletes don't fall behind. Stop being a selfish pr***, Briscoe. You are getting a full ride and when you can't honor your end of the bargain, that's outright stealing in my opinion. What a waste. That said, there are plenty of perfectly capable WR's who will jump at their new found opportunity to get on the field. But, I really was looking forward to watching him this year to see what he could do.
  23. Ok, don't get me wrong - I said what I said without bias. If I added my bias in, I would tell you that I absolutely can't stand the man, and not for the whole scoring points thing. And, with my bias in place, I'll also say that I hope they do crash and burn this year -- but taking out the bias again, I still say they won't. (But, dang it, I really do want them to!) Is that better?
  24. It could be worse. If you check out A&M, they're predicted to go 1-11. That's pretty rough. Side note: I have absolutely nothing against A&M, but I hope they continue to suck so that there's even more proof that NFL coaches ruin the college game for most teams.
