  1. Wow, very impressive. Renovate our entire arsenal without even having a budget approved to do so. And in only 7 months!!!! What a guy.....
  2. I have my fingers crossed! I would love to not have the "lesser of two evils" debate again. Almost everyone agreed that we gave ourselves the worst 2016 ballot possible. Our candidates were running against the only person they could possibly beat because the approval ratings were so terrible. If no one from the GOP runs against Trump, they are willfully promoting 50% of the worst ballot in history. I really don't think that is hyperbole...
  3. The closer the season gets, the stronger my koolaid gets. A month ago I was sure that the Huskers wouldn't top 8 regular season wins. I thought a loss to OSU and PSU were sure things. And Wisc, Iowa, Oregon, Northwestern, and Minnesota were toss ups; meaning the Huskers would likely lose at least 2 of the 5. Now, 4 weeks away, I'm trying to convince myself that OSU is beatable at home and PSU is really being overrated. Currently thinking a 1-loss or even undefeated regular season is entirely possible if not likely. That said, this is a poll that will be brought up next year so I'll go a little closer with my "pre-koolaid" prediction: 9-4. I think the Huskers lose to OSU, Wisconsin, Penn State, and either Oregon/Iowa/bowl game. (that ought to cover my bases for when we bring this up again next year)
  4. Wow. Fascinating. We, as a country, need to help out places like this. They're part of America, too. To the bolded (emphasis mine), :'([/quote In defense of Nebraska Government teachers, every one I know, thinks Trump is an absolute idiot and believes he is giving their students good illustrations about the powers of the Presidency and it's role in a system of checks and balances.

  6. I have an idea. Two Democrats, one pro-life and the other pro-choice, could both run for office. They could discuss their ideas with possible constituents and debate each other in a public forum. The people of the state could vote for who they want to see challenge a Republican for the seat and the Democratic Party could back their candidate. We could call it a "primary"! I can understand the pro-life vs pro-choice debate, and am fully aware of the emotions behind it. But the issue of the Democratic party funding a pro-life candidate comes down to Democrat vs. Republican. Both parties should support the candidate that gives them the best chance of winning.
  7. What you just described is the decision making process of a sane, reasonable, and responsible person.
  8. It's a Walmart store policy and it is dumb. I can understand training a cashier for things to look for, like a 21 year old with a bunch of 20 year olds buying a cart full of beer. But I was turned away from buying a six-pack with other groceries because my wife didn't have her ID on her, and our kids were with us. It was a manager who came to swipe the beer and I asked her and her response was "our policy says we can't sell to customers who have minors with them." She couldn't really defend herself when I told that just a few days earlier she swiped beer for me when I had my kids with me (probably 5 or 6 at the time). I just left her with joking comment about how it's okay to sell to kindergarteners but not tired moms.... I've been turned down AND allowed since, it is a hit or miss policy. But I at least try; it is much handier to just buy the beer along with whatever groceries I need.
  9. To give a relatable example: When Lasik eye surgery first emerged, it was extremely expensive. Today, it's a few thousand dollars. Why did the price fall so drastically? how is that relatable? does lasik have to do twice as much as it used to like insurance does now? there used to be exclusions to what was covered and lifetime limits on your coverage for insurance that obama put an end to.It's a low regulated medical procedure. That's how it's relatable. It's recent and glaring proof of the free market system at work. Competition in the marketplace drives prices down. For some reason that gets lost... what you want is health care with no insurance to mess up the free market? Does your car insurance mess up the free market of the auto repair industry? In the fact that they require a person to go to a certified body shop with their approval, instead of some random joe, and the auto-insurance decides how much they will pay for repairs or if they will repair the car at all, yes they do. Have you every been involved in an accident? Their is nothing involved in the process that makes a person feel like they are in control. You are at the mercy of the auto-insurance companies. Both your's and the other person's involved in the wreck.
  10. I gave a +1 to Red Five. I thought it would be a fun way to say that I would give "no +1" to Husker2019. It was a joke dripping in sarcasm. It's an alternative uniform poll, don't take it so seriously....
  11. that's why this is fun, because I don't agree. Those black tops with the black pant stripe is still sweet +1 to Red Five. Husker2019, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
  12. You act like Obamacare is a great program with no major issues. Maybe that would be a time when a true penalty could be enforced for not previously being covered. Like A co-pay for a significant percentage of the first years treatment, high deductible or something similar. Instead of "taxing" a healthy person for being healthy, we could tax a person who tried to beat the system and lost. For example: with my family medical history, it's not a question of if I have heart problems or cancer, it's more a question of when. I would be more than happy to pay $300 a month for an insurance policy (remember I'm still healthy and young) than get stuck paying half of a $1,000,000 bill when I'm diagnosed with cancer and begin treatments.
  13. And then, to help minimize costs, the government could create a public option available to healthy people too. Assuming it is relatively inexpensive, it could jump start some competition in the market places.
  14. ^^^this is starting to get really, really creepy...
  15. I'll take a lap....(hangs head)
  16. His justification is that he voted to get it into debate ... not yes on the bill. Which logistically is true, but he is skimming over the fact that he is giving McConnel a very good chance to ram it thru. Esp considering (harsh to say this) he may not be present for the debates or vote. He voted yes to debate. But "the rub" is that he also voted yes on the Better Care Reconciliation Act which failed as expected. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/07/25/us/politics/senate-votes-repeal-obamacare.html edit: I read your post too fast. I was assuming you were talking about the vote to proceed yesterday afternoon, and not about the vote last night. I should have known better
  17. I just saw this, too. How in the world do comedians get access to those phone numbers? And what protocols are usually followed before taking an unsolicited call as someone as high up in the government as Perry? It looks like he is far from the first official to be pranked, but....
  18. He won the state with 58-59 percent of the vote. If the 2020 election were tomorrow, I'd bet that missing 3-8 percent would be more than happy to keep a Trump Presidency going....
  19. Yes. But you need to have cable to access, correct? If not, please let me know how. I would really, really, appreciate it. (Same for WatchESPN) There's no way to get BTN standalone, because it's tied to Fox. Your best bet is one of the streaming services like Sling or Vue. That's what I thought. I have a Dish Network account I currently use to sign in on computer, so not an issue yet.

  21. Their statement says to me that they are an organization that won't disagree with power and authority. I mean, look at their statement (emphasis mine):"We will confer all honors and deference to a sitting POTUS, regardless of how he or she behaves." So the BSA is saying that holding someone to account for their behavior is NOT part of their values. The BSA has a chance right now to stand up for what they believe in - whatever that is. Nailed it! Forgive the hyperbole, but if Trump asked for the BSA's help in notifying authorities of classmates that might be undocumented. And gave them things to look for like skin color and languages spoke. Would we expect the BSA to defer to Trump? If yes, that's scary. If no, then why not stand up now?

  23. "You don't have to be Dick LeBeau — or Tom Osborne — to understand that a punishing offensive line can bolster a defense because of the battles that occur regularly in practice." I look forward to the day when Nebraska's current line is included in the same conversation with Wisconsin and Iowa (..gag..). Hopefully, with the younger guys and guys returning from injury they will start claiming the moniker this year.
  24. One can be optimistic of the fun that will be had while watching games and following the team and pessimistic of the final scores of those games at the same time.
