  1. You are correct. Cotton is definately Bo's guy. Anyone not retained from the previous staff is Bo's guys.
  2. I'm going, I'll be loud!!! Just so everyone knows, the last OU game I was at was 01. I believe we won that one in a defensive battle!!! aside from "The Play"
  3. W W w w W w (similar, but smaller) W UU (double U) still quite similar. w uu (again only smaller) 50-0 or 20-10 still puts NU at 5-3 and 2nd in the North. Yes a W is in fact a W.
  4. Im just curious why some people believe Watson should be retained at the end of the season. Now....I dont want answers such as...Watson isn't the problem....We don't have the players...the players drop passes....the line does't block...etc. I want you to tell me what Watson brings to the table and what he can do to help the offense and makes you think he is so good, not what other people aren't doing to help the offense. Let's get back to the original question listed above. I've heard nothing but crickets, and it is a good question. Well, I will give you some reasons why he shouldn't stay. 1. He ALWAYS abandons what is working. Anyone remember the Cotton Bowl a couple of years ago. We ram the ball down Auburns throats and score two TD's. Then guess what, the same ol same ol, we go back to what doesn't work the rest of the game and lose 17-14. Shoot, we see it every game!!! Watson wasn't the play caller in that game! 2. The offense doesn't show any fire or desire. That comes from the coaching, period. Case in point, Bo took a horrible D two years ago and turned it around and showed dramatic improvement last year. Now look at it this year, ranked in the top ten in scoring defense. We still have several players left over from two years ago (on D) and look at what a little good coaching has done. There seems to be a huge difference here between the O and the D. That also comes from assistants on the sideline. WR, OL, RB coaches need to fire up the group, not the OC. 3. As a manager, I can attest to the fact that good leadership starts at the top! If Watson has total control of the offense, (maybe Bo shouldn't have given him) then he takes the blame for everything under him. That includes the position coaches (Cotton) and how the players are being prepared. Good point, responsible for bad play (OP said not to use that as excuse) 4. Hasn't shown any desire to conform his offense to the abilities of his players. A good coach will adapt to the players he has. Yes, we have had several injuries, so play to the strengths of who you have left. An OC should expect people to catch and not fumble. He has replaced players that seem to have that problem. Football players should be able to play football, if not, that is why there is backups. 5. This "take what the defence gives you" mentality has to go. Nebraska used to impose their will on the defences. Look at other schools who are on top, Florida, USC, Cinci, Bama ect. They impose their will on the defence and dare you to stop them. Also, amazingly enough, they play to the strenghts of their players! Have you ever watched Cincinnati? They are anything but a smashmouth football team. USC is the only superior offense in that group, and guess what, they run an offense similar to ours with better talent. 6. As someone else mentioned before, we are never going to get the "5 star" receivers that the southern schools get. Tom understood that and built an offense around the caliber of talent he would be able to recruit. There is talent in our receiving corp. 7. I will concede that he and the other coaches on offense see the players everyday in practice. Yet, they seem to be stuborn and have their heads in the sand. I don't care how well things appear to work in practice, it isn't working in the games. I would love to know how many times this offense actually go's against the starting defence in practice. If they really do, that should be telling to the coaches, I can't imagine they move the ball that well. Maybe not often, the coaches probably don't want to destroy the psyche of the offensive players . This would be on Bo. He designs practices. 8. The argument that they had to scale down the offense for Green doesn't hold water. I don't know about all of you, but I was still seeing most of the same stupid plays with Green that we saw with Lee. I think Watson is the only one who knows all of his 300+ plays. During actual games we only see less the 20 and that is being generous. When other defensive coaches are breaking down game film of us, they must be salivating!!! Those 320 plays include checks, pattern changes, same plays different formation etc. If you can't handle that, you should have quit playing in High School. We had 150 plays in h.s. at least. We had 10 formations and anywhere from 10-20 plays in each. NU is second in the North behind psuedo leader KSU. It may not be the National Championship year some of us came to expect, but the Big XII is NU's to lose.

  6. 9-3 would definately win the North. I would put money on it, but if I did, something outrageous would happen like KSU winning out.
  7. The one fact we can take from these stories is there is bad people everywhere. I have never been to another college venue outside of Lincoln, however, I would love to. I've been to at least one Husker game every year for the last 13 and the one thing I can guarantee is that someone in Red will embarrass me. I've seen fights on O Street, I've seen people harrass a 12 year old for wearing black and gold, I've seen a Mob harrass a family with 5 and 7 year olds and yell "get the F*&k off our statue!" outside our stadium. My point is, there is douche bags everywhere!! I you go in looking for them, trust me they are easy to find. If you go in looking for good fans and a good experience, they are even easier to find.
  8. John is a caller on local radio shows that starts off with a normal tone and shortly turns into a horrible Macho Man Randy Savage impersonation. He yells into the phone so loudly you can't understand what he rambling on about. He may have very good points, but he needs to find a TOTALLY different way to share them.
  9. John is a......well he would be one of the annoying people to watch a game with. He tried to call Tom Becker (1110am, political talk on the same time as USC) and Tom hung up on him, and blasted his intern for not properly scanning calls. It was great to hear a talk show host have some pride in intelligent calls. To me, John never comes across as intelligent.
  10. Do we honestly believe that the rule is this anal. As far as that rule "reads" we are to give every recruit on the sideline a cold shoulder! There is nothing wrong with making conversation in passing with a recruit. I came from a town that produced a Husker player, he was faced with a lot of pressure from people in town to go to NU and not think of other schools. This is probably the case with most "in-state" recruits. The punishment would've been handed down already if it will ever be. Say "Hi to the kid along with whatever comment you wish" but leave the wad of cash at home! Have some fun people!!!
  11. My next door neighbor's cousin is an assistant at a real estate company and she overheard her boss in the next room talking to a guy that said his name was Bo. He wanted to sell his current house and build a nice house since he plans on staying here a long time.
  12. Are you sure it is the sportswriters that are bitter? Maybe getting drunk would aid in relaxation:)
  13. My mother always told me it was not nice to make fun of "special" people. Besides they probably wouldn't get the joke anyway:)
  14. If the Freshmen don't already know, then nobody's earned their Blackshirts. AGREE 100%
  15. Agreed... but didnt Bo and staff just say this past week were the BEST practices since the new coaches came on board? Its time... quit doing the carrot and stick to these kids. Some are seniors, and only have a few months left... Bo, do the right thing! True, but that was ONE week out of NINE since fall practice started. And the ONE week of great toughness and intensity had to come VIA VaTech. Not on the Defense's own free will. Difference between productive practice and awesome practice. The offensive guys should hate the defensive guys (and vice versa) 3 hours a day at a minimum. Both teams should strive everyday to "embarass" the other. To build the TEAM. GREAT vs. GREAT everyday = GREAT x 2 vs Average on Saturday!!!! Anyone else up for a 11 day bender until Missouri!!! I personally can't wait!!!
  16. Day by Day!!! We Get Better and Better!!!! until......
  17. This is my opinion, take it for what it's worth. BLACKSHIRTS's are practice jerseys. Bo and staff put a HUGE emphasis on practice being an indicator of game week. Maybe we won't see the Blackshirts until Bo believes his Defense is practicing at the intensity level that Jason Peter talks about. Maybe Bo wants to see his boys be nasty and mean and SMART at the same time in PRACTICE! He may know they had a great NonConf season, but still doesn't see the nastiness he wants. They might be smart (expaining the current status) but not nasty and mean enough to "the Galaxy" he wants them in. I don't think they get them by winning, I believe they will get them when they bring the attitude EVERYDAY!!
  18. Sorry, but I hate the bickering!!! Missouri=Mizzou Cornhuskers=Huskers If everyone is intelligent enough to correct spelling and grammar; shouldn't we be intelligent enough to realize this isn't a class, but a form of recreation. I would hate to be judged for syle points when I'm on a pair of skis. I'm happy to stay upright, but having fun at the same time. Back on topic!!! Defend Solich or Bash, I don't care. Maybe we should leave this thread to die. FWIW
  19. Why do some people assume that since members of the media "never" played football they know nothing. Tim Griffin, along with everyother sportswriter, knows more about our program than we as everyday fans do. He is at every Big 12 press conference, most conference calls. He is IN the locker rooms talking to players and coaches one on one. Bo Pelini would know Griffin on the street, he would have no clue who I am. Most of the knowledge that most of us fans has about our program, is written by the media. However, it IS up to us to decide if we feel certain writers concentrate more on negatives than positives. Mark Clayton (ESPN NFL analyst) obviously doesn't look the part of an athlete. But I'm pretty sure he could make anyone of us look stupid in a football discussion. my .02
  20. This has been mentioned previously in the thread, but it is getting rather long. O'Hanlon made an outstanding play on the ball against CJ Spiller when Clemson was deep in our territory. That play decided the game, and he made it. That is how he saved the bowl game.
  21. Even Helu, and Henery? I agree they both had good games, but just for argument's sake... Henery shanked his second punt for only 20 yards. Did VT get the FG on that drive? Helu missed a few blocks in pass protection and missed a few running lanes. Thank you. I know I could blame something on Henery, I just didn't want to!! He beat Colorado!!!!!! Good fun.
  22. exactly what I figured! LITR seems to be full of Pompus Fans willing to comment on a whim.
  23. What is the age of the frequent posters on here? I am relatively new. I spend a whole lot more time reading posts than I do responding. Unfortunately, when I agree with posts I don't respond because "what's the point", however, when I disagree without question I may post. This will probably get me the label of "troll" or misinformed because I'm in the wrong forum with the wrong topic. I don't want to be labled as a negative member. (I witnessed the HuskerJen, and I do not want to be in that category) Myself, I am 29. I witnessed the glory days, and unfortunately more sad days. I'm just curious because I aslo frequent the LIFR on www.journalstar.com and they continue to say how this is a board full of illinformed youth. My question is: How old are you and where are you from? Answer one, or the other, or neither. I'm just curious that when I read a post; am I reading a person who is a current student with friends on the team, a former student that thinks NU should win MNC every year, or a High School student that doesn't remember wat the program was. Nothing against anyone in anyone of those categories, I would just like some context in your posts, that I'm very grateful for. Like I said; I'm 29 from Pierce NE (I don't want to make this a FaceBook Page) If you know me call me!
