  1. Yes, Will Compton, a second year player, is a bust. Might as well strip him of his scholarship and tell him to try badminton or something. Just cause a redshirt freshman isn't beating out older, more experienced players for a starting job doesn't necessarily mean he's a bust Axl_sued_me. Want a bust? I'll introduce you to Marlon Lucky Oh no you didn't...ML was not a bust. Sure, he may not have lived up to ALL the hype, but overall he was a solid, contributing player for our offense, and if you don't think so, then I would recommend buying the 2007 season off of huskernation! I'd get it if it ONLY showed the 2007 Offense I just said he was a bust to stir the pot a little bit guys And I agree with you no_name. *Edit* I don't think you can blame Husker nation for setting ridiculous standards for the kid. Most, including myself, may not put a lot into Rivals and it's star rankings. When you get 5 stars though, you are one of the 25 best players in the nation. With the way the coaching staff and media talked about Lucky, it's completely reasonable why everybody was let down by his overall career performance. Coaches and media made it seem like Marlon was the type who could win the Heisman all four years.
  2. I'm sure the Omaha World Herald and Lincoln Journal Star will have Spring Game highlights and analysis for fans. Check their respective websites on Sunday and I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised.
  3. Each day the chance of rain seems to go down a bit. Either way, it will be a fun time.
  4. I'm guessing he is too . . . at least when timed without pads on. Does anyone else remember Cody Glenn running him down like he was standing still when Griffin was running towards the sideline? (not saying Glenn is faster than Griffin at all . . . it was just one of those WOW moments) That's why game speed and track speed are two totally different things, which is what I think you are getting at. You can be the fastest guy alive, but it doesn't necessarily mean you'll be the fastest on the football field, which is why Glenn was able to close down on him. Great point. I think this a good time to also mention that Green is not a runner first passer second like Vince Young was, for example. Green is a pocket passer who can run if he needs to, so we shouldn't expect him to run like Griffin can when the time comes from Green to play.
  5. LMFAO...raining on your parade? I'm being realistic. I want to win as much as any of you. But for the thread starter to make a title saying this will be Bo's "coming-out party" is wishful thinking, if not delusional. No one is proclaiming Texas the national champion. But we only have 2 commits, and 1 of them is from Nebraska. So calm down and wait till the signing period is over before you start hopping and prancing like a little schoolgirl There is nothing wrong with being excited about the upcoming recruiting class. I disagree with your opinion, but respect it. Side note - One of those recruits is a Nebraskan, yes, but he is also the #65 best player in the nation according to Rivals Top 100 players for the 2010 class. We had an advantage recruiting him considering he lives here, but that doesn't mean a whole bunch in the grand scheme of recruiting. He's a recruit, plain and simple. Doesn't matter where he is from.

  7. Griffin was a true freshman as borNred said. Also, it's not impossible for true freshman to compete. Just look at how good Ahman Green was his freshman year. That guy was one of the better backs in the country and he was only 18-19 at the time and didn't even redshirt.
  8. Everybody get your orders in quick then.

    QBs

I think it's important to realize that Cody Green isn't really a "dual threat" quarterback. The coaches, and those that have played with him before, characterize him as a passer first that can run if he absolutely needs to. We need guys like that who are actually pro-type passers but can extend plays out of the pocket if they need to. I'm not saying he can't burn people with his legs and isn't a good runner, but he is still a much better passer than a runner.
  10. Bring it on! I wouldn't have it any other way. We'll Josh Freeman them all. New saying? I like it. "That kid backed out on his commitment to us, and is going to Colorado!? We'll just Josh Freeman that punk!"
  11. Sorry, but on what are you basing this assumption? Washington played QB in high school and switched to defense in college, so he is still familiar with what it takes to be a quarterback. As of right now, he's the third best guy we have on the team at the quarterback position. Now see this is what I dont understand what some of you guys think about? Every one is on here saying that Green cant be any good at QB this year because he is a freshman coming straight from High school... But yet in the same breath you say LTW can be since he played QB in HS even though he hasnt taken a snap since HS... And he must not have been that good if they moved him to LB from QB? Ill take my chances with Green anyday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think we're saying that Green can't be good at QB. Just looking out how the excited the fan base is can show you that. Also, I definitely did not say that LTW was the second stringer, because Cody Green is the second guy regardless of the fact that he just came out of high school. Green is a better quarterback and he has started a game at quarterback recently, unlike LTW who hasn't started one in years. LTW also got the playbook two days before spring practice start, and Green had it much earlier. LTW is in to provide depth at the position, something we desperately need right now. The fact of the matter is that if Spano isn't better by fall, Lee goes down and goes down hard during a game, and the coaches want to spare Green's redshirt, you better be ready to see LTW in there. Martinez won't really be a viable backup considering our playbook for his first year.
  12. They'll keep popping up very now and then, especially after spring ball when the REAL off season starts and we all start losing our minds further.
  13. Regardless of whether all those redshirt freshman are better or not, they are still going to get quite a few reps for the upcoming year. And I'm also extremely excited by the fact that we will have the same group of guys in the linebacking corp for the next 3 years (after the 2009 season finishes).
  14. sounds like this year they are probably going to do a draft system and split the teams up evenly. While some people think that the "first team" units should remain intact to establish chemistry, I like the fact that there will be stronger competition. It's not going to be a playground style match like it was last year, where there were two team captains and they picked their teams. This year, the coaches are most likely going to decide the rosters and make the teams fairly balanced in order to promote further competition. Should be exciting.
  15. I did not know this. Just out of curiosity, what exactly are they going to do if thousands buy this shirt and never ask him permission? They can't punish the school cause it's a fan t-shirt, and I doubt law enforcement would go on a Helu t-shirt ban rampage either.
  16. Still seeing rain in forecasts. Couple days left though, so lets hope it changes.
  17. With Paul out... which WR(s) is going to step up. I want to see Bell's speed and Henry making grabs out of midair with his leaping ability. but shortly after I see that, I want to see prince and west making some interceptions, and hagg laying a hit on a TE.... I think... I don't REALLY want to see interceptions that much... but yet I do. Who do I root for? I'd love to see the defense wreak havoc on the offense personally.
  18. KICK NILES OFF THE TEAM. I dont agree. Respect your opinion though.
  19. I'll be excited to see how much Helu improved, how well Paul plays, and how viable a back up Spano will be! Oh wait..
  20. Is it possible? Yes. Is it likely? Absolutely not. I think it's still more likely than not that he redshirts even given Witt's defection and Spano's injury. It's possible but not likely, as carlfense said. Besides, I'm 100% confident in what Lee can do and I am a full believer that he is physically better than Ganz and could be much better than him because he understands what it takes to be the Nebraska QB. Griffin may be very good but his team will never be a conference title contender as long as he has eligibility. And do people think Briles is really going to stay at Baylor? If he brings Baylor up (similar to what Gill did at Buffalo), Briles will be out of there in a heartbeat. Plus, I'd rather have Green here for 5 years then just 4.
  21. Sorry, but on what are you basing this assumption? Washington played QB in high school and switched to defense in college, so he is still familiar with what it takes to be a quarterback. As of right now, he's the third best guy we have on the team at the quarterback position.
  22. There is no question that Briscoe should be in the top 10. This writter guy is high. I'd have to sit down and go through the whole Big XII, but I was surprised he was that low. He is easily one of the best receivers in the conference. I was surprised too. If not top 10 at least top 15.
