  1. Probably has something to do with why a lot of people dislike Tebow and his "saintly" disposition.. Because he's not on their team.
  2. Well yeah, I mean when was the last time we recruited somebody for Nebraska that was a Nebraska native? That would be 1997-98 when Eric Crouch signed on.
  3. Thanks bruno, it looks like you've been busy owning jawhawks today. keep up the good work. I have no idea what rock chalk jayhawk means other than it's just a silly ryhme's. npz mr. 'forever', that guy says the darndest things.... I dunno, do you get chalk if you scrape 2 rocks together and what does that half to do w fuhbol? Well, I guess I'll have to get motivated and google it or wait for jayhawk to come explain it--he's a smart guy. I think the most popular explanation is that the school sits on a large hill, Mount Oread, that is made of Limestone (aka, Chalk). When the stdiums get loud and shakin, one "Rock's Chalk". If you miss it, here tis... Chant ANd it is old, some variant of the chant has been around over 100 years. Teddy Roosevelt called it the best college chant he had ever heard. If ya'll don't like it, that is fine, but that don't make you right According to one of the NCAA Football 09 random facts while loading, the "Rock Chalk Jayhawk" chant came from some school official riding on a train and the sound of the rails and the cars inspired him to create the chant lol. Pick up the game (or play it at a buddies house) and start up a game with Kansas at home and hopefully that fact will show up on the load screen. That just inspired the rythem, not the words.... On another note, while I am hearing how we are a drop in the bucket, I noted an interesting stat in this article on recruiting.... Link I will post it on a different thread, but for this one, I would like to point out that KU has won more games in the last 5 years than GBR in football. I know our scheudle is a little easier, but other than the fact you usually have 1 good non conf and we do not, we both have played the Big 12... Not too bad, considering that hasn't been happening over many other 5 year periods in recent times... I was in a coma during the Callahan era..I do not recall these last 5 years you speak of
  4. LOL. I love Unsportmanslike Conduct.
  5. Well get this, the youngest Grixby brother (Ronnell, sp?) got arrested in Sarpy Country with his two brothers (Cortney included) for making terroristic threats and 3rd degree assault (a misdemeanor). So there goes one walk on.. Other than that, however, I haven't heard much about any of the walk-ons.
  6. Haha true, but I, and hopefully all you guys too, are not like that. You'll find those people west of us in Fuffalo country. Unfortunately, Douglas County (our most populous county where Omaha is located) has one of the highest STD rates in the nation...I mean come on if you can't find a rubber just grab a sack from Wal-mart.. I keed..I keed.

  8. If they figure in television appearances ND will have a big advantage depending on the weight of the television factor. My father told me that when he was a kid they had a ND game on every single week they played, and back then they only maybe had 1 or 2 games on television every Saturday.
  9. Yeah at least we competed and we were up by 6 at half. Tough loss but we've got a young team.
  10. Yeah, doesn't this belond elsewhere like..not in here?
  11. So was Eric Crouch lol. Sad to say.
  12. What if they just juked us all and forgot to put NU in the list. It wouldn't happen, but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised.
  13. Thats the really nice thing about running backs. They can be filtered in with generally no problems as far as offensive rhythm goes (given that none of the backs have injuries). The Kansas State game was a perfect example because Helu and Castille both shared reps and were productive (if you negate Q's fumbles). The quarterback battle is much more difficult to judge given that most teams who switch QB's in and out religiously have identity problems on the offense (Ohio St. faced quite a few offensive identity problems this year).
  14. All the spots have been filled on the Tennessee staff. The Jets still have Callahan under contract so it is up to them whether he is allowed to pursue elsewhere. I read that Mangini and the Browns still want Callahan as their OC. Ahh thanks for letting me know. I could see Callahan at the Browns with Brady Quinn working with a high profile quarterback like that, seems to fit him well. Guess we'll see though.
  15. So now that the Jet's head coaching position has been taken, does anybody know if Callahan will be staying at the Jets or moving on to Tennessee like what was speculated? I still don't think the guy is a bad OC, he's just a terrible HC. Idk if anybody here listens to Unsportsmanlike Conduct on 1620 in Omaha, but they had Ganz on the radio a few days back and he specifically said that Callahan was more into the x's and o's then he was into getting guys fired up and ready to play. Glad to finally hear somebody admit it..
  16. Didn't she introduce him as "former Husker Heisman Eric Crouch" and then he said something along the lines of "I never understood why it's "former", If you win it doesn't it last forever?" If so, I think I caught the same show.
  17. The running back slamming into the back of an o-line men is mostly the o-line's fault. Still though, Lucky should have been quicker to decipher when a hole was closing and what direction to take the ball.
  18. My guess is Nebraska will be thrown somewhere in the 6-10 range. In my heart I think Nebraska is most deserving, but statistically speaking I guess there are more prestigious teams out there. The ranking seem pretty fair so far though, nothing to unexpected. I do agree with Baylor being higher than KU.
  19. Lol it's kind of surreal isn't it? I mean you kind of forget that these players are real people unless you actually get to spend time with them, and then you find out they're not so different from any of us. I live one door down from Collins Okafor, and that dude loves Rock Band, we've been playing it a lot. It's just..it's very weird. Seeing them out of uniform in real life puts em on an even keel with me.
  20. I believe they use the $2 wherever they travel to show the hosts how much of an economic impact the Clemson fans have. Pretty good idea. I think it started with Georgia Tech complaining about traveling to Clemson every other year. They wanted to play Clemson in Atl every year. The Clemson fans at the time (I won't say 'we' cause I was yet to be born at that point) decided to get $2 bills and spend when they went to Atlanta for the GT game to show the economic impact, stating that it was only fair that they get a return game from GT in Clemson. Ever since then, it has been a tradition to do this at all bowl games, many of the away games that are far away from Clemson (BC, FSU, Miami, Texas A&M a few years back) and of course when we play GT in Atlanta. In 2007 when we went to the Chic-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta, I got $200 worth of $2 bills. I'm ashamed to say that I didn't take any to Jax this year. It's amazing to see how many people do not think that the $2 bills are real. Here's a local article I just found about it, I was close... http://www.independentmail.com/news/2007/d...l-going-strong/ It's even mentioned on the Two dollar bill entry on wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_two-dollar_bill LOL I had to give somebody a 2 dollar bill back in change from my work the other day because it was all I had in the drawer at the time. They looked at me like I was mentally deficient and then asked me if I was playing some practical joke..then followed that with "There is no such thing as a 2 dollar bill.."
  21. I'll get two and give you one
  22. I'll get two and give you one
  23. That's exactly what I have in mind. WOW that would be fun to watch with the power up the gut with Castille the shifty speed back of Helu and then the very fast slot guy. That sounds pretty damn exciting to me. I still think we should run a formation with our QB (whoever that may be) in the shotgun, Q and Helu to the right and left, with Mendoza in the slot. That formation could be deadly with so many different directions to take it. We didn't run many two back shotgun sets this year, so that could be a force to deal with in the the first few games of the season. Most teams have to look at the previous years' films and go off of that during the first part of the season, so it'd be nice to add in some formations that nobody has seen a lot of. That in my opinion would be a dominant formation espeacially with the way our O-line should be next year. I think this would definately answer the questions about how we will over come the new QB, and take the pressure off of him Completely agree. Our amazing group of backs and the o-line could be very powerful and take a lot of pressure off of the QB. And we gotta make sure we don't rule out Mendoza as a premier back. I'm sitting behind the guy in class right now and he's no little guy lol.
  24. I agree with this. I think Turner comes back fine and with full force. I know he wanted to play badly this year, and now he has an entire off season to prepare and get himself ready.
