  1. Sharing the ball is different than sharing the field. If I am on the field I can get the ball. If I am not then I can not get the ball. Iowa runs a lot of 21, 12, and some 22 personnel. I agree with Ziebol that we will end up with better wrs in this class but if he wants to jump ship soon he would probably have a spot.
  2. Possibly, but I think we will be more than fine at the wr spot. He also spoke to the struggles of Nebraska and how much better of a spot Iowa is in. Would be hard to go back on that now. We will see, but if I was a wr I would have a hard time sharing time with a FB and TEs.
  3. Best of luck to this young man. Just a crazy situation but nothing is surprising anymore.
  4. Yes please! Big target that can catch deep balls and runs the ball for his HS on jet sweeps and key screens. Rare for a kid his height.
  5. Awful situation. I know a lot of Iowa fans That refer to our players as “thugs” and do not like how they celebrate with each other. They believe our guys are selfish and wouldn’t fit in at Iowa. Maybe it is a good thing our guys don’t fit that culture.
  6. Thanks. I don’t do the twitter thing anymore.
  7. Deciding today at 5 between us and isu. I would say he is N
  8. Love this debate. Guys who scream for a 4 front will face the same problem when confronted with being 2 high or 1 high with your safeties. 2 High and you are putting a ton of pressure on your LB and Safety to run fit and play coverage. 1 High and you stress out our DB to play zone coverage and give up underneath stuff all day, or man free and give up big plays. Much harder to disguise pressures and coverages out of a 4 front too. I really like Chins scheme. I dont like what we have to run it. It starts with our OLB and ILB. DL does not have any true 34 DE types yet. Secondary is starting to look right with so many guys that are flexible in the positions they play and can give you some different looks back there. When we go into gameplanning and we see a base 4 front team, you can strike up the band. Would much rather plan to play a 4 front. Easier to determine who the surface level read is going to be in the run game. Easier to identify 2nd level reads in the option game. Easier to identify the Mike and stick with our base blocking rules. Simplifies things in pass protection too. But hey, 34 defenses are terrible, unless you are one of the top defensive teams in the NFL or college football... Then it isn't.
  9. The first ball he catches in the video is a soccer ball. Maybe he is going to try out for goalie on a club soccer team.
  10. I would take this guy. Physical WR that is good running after the catch. Would be a good fit in this offense blocking on the perimeter and being a threat to run the ball after catch on key screens.
  11. Another interesting thing to look at moving forward is attendance at games. If the attendance is limited then it is a heck of a year to have a tough road schedule @tOSU, @Iowa, and @wiscy. You would think that would negate some of the home field advantage. Wonder how Vegas will treat home field advantage?
  12. I agree. 2nd good sign is just the fact he is working out is a sign he wants to play. By rule he can’t transfer anywhere but down a level, or go pro.
  13. So would that be like a 7.5?? Likes our chances but not quite an 8.
  14. Purdue. We win that I think we will have the momentum to start out 7-0 or 6-1. Lose that one and we are looking at needing to win at least, 1 if not 2, of our final 5 games against tOSU, PSU, Ioa, Wiscy, Minny.
  15. Kids is a composite 92 on 247. Consensus 4 star. I guess we would take him.
  16. Haha. Sounds like he is. Get him 10k friends on MySpace and He will commit.
  17. I think this is part of the clean up process.
  18. Recruiting starts in middle school for the St. Louis kids. They are constantly recruited by HS and college coaches all the way up. Illinois tried hiring a private Lou coach to get their foot in the door. Mizzou has had a tough time getting their foot in the door
  19. If we are going to improve on offense we need manning to be that guy. Gunnerson seems like a garret Nelson type of motor kid that will find his way on the field with effort and attitude. Although I think he has a better frame and is a better athlete than Nelson.
  20. Saw a tweet where Miami Northwestern HC was fired and staff suspended for a year for practicing during stay at home orders. Crazy if true. Just means more.
  21. Nice. Hope that could lead to a commitment. I think this kids recruitment will blow up. It has to be hard for rivals and recruiters right now trying to evaluate and rank kids without summer camps to observe.
  22. Is Leonard as good as Aranda was? Not sure he is the best wiscy DC. Venable is good. Like how he utilized Simmons in a variety of ways. Gary Patterson always fields good defenses in an offensive league without a ton a nfl talent. Hankwitz the DC at Northwestern always field a good defense without a ton of talent. Iowa, narduzzi, and mich st have good statistical defenses, but some of that is aided by the style of play of their offenses. other than those 2 it is the chicken or the egg argument with talent and good defenses.
  23. We had one. It just happened to Be in 2015 and Mike Riley was our coach.
  24. Not sure what the expectations were..... but I thought it was pretty cool. It was not a new domed stadium announcement or anything crazy, but I enjoyed it. Can’t wait to watch some ball this fall. I was so desperate I almost watched nascar on Sunday.
