  1. Wasn't Dixon our first verbal last year. After a few flip flops we landed him. No kids commitments means much this early. But I am glad to have this kid on our side early.
  2. The same could be said about any recruit that has a good senior year. Yes it could get interesting around bowl time if he blows up on the recruiting trail. "Firm" is the best news we can have right now. But we are in early on him and got a pretty good shot of landing him. No committ is safe until signing day. We need to stay on this kid and go have a good year on the field.
  3. Not good news. Get ready to decide soon and hasnt visited. Probably OU bound. Hope I am wrong.
  4. Roach cant cover. Our lbs need to be able to play some man coverage. Would not want to see him matched up with a te or rb. He is not very fast and stiff in the hips. If roach is better than he would have played. He might be pretty close to being the the same level as fisher but seniority wins if all is equal.
  5. If 6 foot can put on 40 to 50 pounds then 6'5 can easily hold that and stay quick. I am not saying he can't play d end. But it is very reasonable to recruit a 6'5 245 d tackle and expect him to play at 280-290. We aren't good enough yet, or in the right region to not recruit projects. There is a very few d lineman in the nation ready to play out of high school. Yes, even 4 and 5 star tackles sometimes struggle to make an immediate impact. I think projects or jucos are the best route for us. Until we win big and can steal an elite d tackle.
  6. I think Thad randle was around 250 in hs. 250 can easily become 280-300 with a college nutrition and strength and conditioning. You can get a steal if u can project an undersized high school lineman with some talent.
  7. Welcome Alex Lewis. Even if he doesnt ever play for us, it is still nice to have a guy walk away from the Puffs to play for the Huskers. What a dramatic thread to start your Husker career.
  8. Mich st could have won every game but Notre dame and have an easy schedule this year. Defense should be better this yer. That is the logic they r using. I do not agree with it, but my opinion means about as much as his preseason poll
  9. Evaluating our spring game you get an awful look at where we are as a team. We had 3 possible starters on the DL sitting out (Randle, McMullen, Valentine) and our hands down best LB in Santos. With a team so young on defense We looked soft on defense up front missing so many pieces. Two horrible busts in our spring game were by LB's that will never see the field for a defensive snap. Most teams went 1's on 1's and 2's on 2's during their spring game to match up. They will look a lot better bd you have a cohesive unit playing. All parts of defense will make each other look better when you go 1's on 1's. We split guys and we looked lost at times. I can see why coming out of spring if you dont cover our team then you would question us being a legit team. We will be better up front this year than we were last year. Cant be any worse?? Sorry but Meredith playing DT made me throw up in my mouth. But he did it to the best of his ability and he was playing out of position. LB's with Santos and ZA we should be better at LB. Find a young buck to plug in next to them (Rose, Afalava, Brown) and we are solid. WE should have the best secondary in the B1G or at least right there with OSU. For guys that dont know much about our team, but what they saw at the spring game then I could see Andy would think their is too many holes on defense to leave us out of his top 25. But this just shows that he doesnt follow each team closely and is just taking blind guesses based off spring game hype. Cant wait to prove this guy wrong. GBR!!!
  10. Saw it on 247 ticker. Welcome Jason. I think a lot of schools are going to go after this kid. We were first and I hope we hold on. Good job coaches and welcome N.
  11. If you are so sure he is a going to osu then why come here and talk about it. We will get a qb that is good and fits our system. If we get Darlington that would be great. If he wants to be a buckeye then his loss. We will be okay. Sorry to steal ur thunder as u try to cause stress on another board, but we don't care what u think.
  12. Bo can coach defense. People over look the conference change for a lot of the issues. U do not recruit a lot of linebackers in the big 12. The type of d line that you recruit is different. Big 12 was horizontal run league we're u needed athletic Dline that could move laterally. The B1G u need big physical heavy handed d line to hold the line of scrimmage and not lose ground. If u look at the 1 place on our defense with depth it is the position we recruited the Heck out of to win in the big 12. We have so many corner ans safety type players that would have played well in the pass happy big 12. Now 2 solid cb or safeties are on the sideline and replaced with 2 players that are our weakness (fisher and Whaley). I love the linebackers that we have recruited and our young Dline was brought into play a physical brand of football. I think bo has been trying to plug holes that he has had in personnel for the past couple years. Yes it is his job to recruit. But winning in 2 different leagues requires different types of players to recruit. Another thing overlooked is staff turnover. If bo was so terrible and our scheme is so bad why is USC, LSU and other teams lining up to steal our coaches. We have lost our dc and 2 solid secondary coaches but our coaches are terrible and can't coach. If we can keep our staff together and get the personnel required to win in this conference bo will be a genius again. Lastly, horrible defensive performances are everywhere. Yes we had a few bad ones last year but every defense took it on the chin last year. Bama was lit up, Georgia gave up huge games, USC defense got gashed in a few games and all those teams have loads of NFL talent. We didn't. Football has evolved. You play more plays per game against offenses attacking the entire field. The UCLA game we surrendered a lot of yards but played well enough to win the second half and that is how u judge a defense. Yards and points allowed can get misleading. You look at teams generally ranked high on defense and they are teams that control the clock.and.run the ball. Thus defending less snaps and shortening the game. Everyone loves Mich st defense but on the fourth quarter they lost 6 games bc they couldn't stop someone. Yet they are the number 4 defense in the land. They don't give up a ton of yards but they don't play a lot of snaps. We will be good again on defense soon. Let our young guys develop and restore the blackshirts pride. We will be a good ag
  13. Don't put too much stock into a reported 40 time. If it is a legitimate 4.73 that is about the same as a coach timing a kid at a 4.5. THere are not very many people in the world that run a legit 4.4 40, yet every skill position player coming out of high school runs a "4.4". Watching tape is more valuable to determining speed than a 40. This kid is worthy of an offer and we will not be his only offer. Their is a lot of large schools that are on the verge of offering. We just happen to be the first, which is a good thing.
  14. 2010 pre may committs A-Rod, mike moudy. 2011 pre may commits Reeves, Moore, klatchko, Kevin williams 2012 pre may committs 0 2013 pre may committs banderas, love, natter A-Rod, banderas, Reeves in state kids and Moore is legacy kid. So we pulled 5 out of staters in 4 years before May. So I would say this is a typical class. Lots of kids have visited practice and spring and have is really high on their list. Peyton Newell, fenstermacher, Elmore, and dj foster to name a few. This class is right on our typical pace and I trust how the staff is recruiting kids. Hopefully this summer we can land our qb (darlington) and he can start recruiting Florida hard for is this year and we can have a nice recruiting haul this year. But I don't think u have any reason to be alarmed with how this class has started out.
  15. Not much different than most years. The kids we go after have a hard time making to campus on their own dime. They will take officials in season and love it, then the staff will let them go home and think it over. Kids that want promised playing time will go elsewhere, kids who really love the husker experience will be in. We have our early local committ that is going to try to help recruit this class. Seems to be right on track with most years.
  16. Aside from the fact that he is on of the worst open field tacklers I've ever seen I'd agree with you. He was not a terrible open field tackler. He had a bad game and everyone in the world saw it. Not many safeties in the country could tackle Keith Marshall (UGA RB #4)in open field and he made a great play on him. He had more moments in his career when he showed he was a more than capable tackler, than the few times when he missed (Wiscy game). I liked Stafford and he brought an attitude on defense.
  17. We won't lose 1200 to 1500 yards of production over the next 2 years bc he quit. Saying we will lose those yards is saying that he is the only person with a skill set to attain those yards. We will still rush for those yards but the yardage will go to a back that wants to be here and compete for carries. I love the fact that we can lose a 5 star and 4 star back and still be a top ten rushing attack. What the coaches are asking from the running back position is working and you develop that attitude amongst the backs it will only make the guys that stick it out that much better .
  18. Heard<Taylor<Newby<Cross<Abdullah So who really cares why he transferred. You would of thought we lost an All American and not a guy who could barely find his way onto the field. Even when we had a 180 pound back carrying the ball 30 times.
  19. Martinez threw the ball an avg. of 26 times a game anyways. I don't see why 30 a game would be a big deal.
  20. He has great touch on his passes. Usually hitting wr in stride for maximum yac yards. Doesn't have the velocity of Armstrong and Stanton. He is mobile and can avoid the pass rush but not as good a runner as Stanton and Armstrong. Reminds me a little of Russell Wilson.
  21. Didn't say the B1G was the sec. No one is. U could argue us being the second best conference.
  22. Didn't say dominant but good. We did have the number 2 team but they weren't eligible. I think Mich, msu, wiscy, Nebraska all could play with anyone in the country. Mich played the sec gamecocks to the wire, wiscy played toe to toe without their head coach in the rose, and we fared well against uga til the end. I don't think the B1G is as bad a u think it is.
  23. I don't buy the weak conference business. We had an extremely difficult schedule last year. We played 2 top five teams on the road, wiscy twice, Pac 12 runner up on the road. Not too mention msu, psu, mich and nw. If ur not happy with 10 wins then that is fine but don't say we had an easy schedule. That is Busch league.
