  1. I agree that he wiffed on a pass protection play yesterday, but I wouldn't say he's consistantly bad at it. I've seen him make plenty of blocks that have led to touchdown passes as well. I also believe he would be a bigger play guy if Tmart would pitch the ball to him more. The pitches Martinez was making to Green and Heard are the types of plays that Burkhead needs more of.
  2. The problem is he doesn't get the ball enough to show it...I mean on 4th and 1 and they run a quarterback keep? How often is it that Burkhead doesn't get at least a yard when he touches the ball? I hope to God they use more of the tailbacks down the road.
  3. I agree with chickenheart!! Martinez can run there is no doubt but I question his mental abilities to run the option. I think Burkehead needs to have a minimum of 20-25 touches a game. then bring in the 3 freshman for a few and when nobody is looking, have martinez just run a QB keeper option looking play. Let our RBs run and get used to the game. EXACTLY!
  4. We're running the Taylor Martinez keeps it every play offense...I'm tired of him not using the tailback. For got sakes how does he plan to stay healthy if he's getting clock cleaned every down.
  5. Here it comes...the day when Nebraska fans put the faith into the recruit. If you remember correctly, this guy came here as an elite recruit from a state that churns out recruits year after year. The state that is bigger than yours. R E X B U R K H E A D.... BA CHOMP BA CHEWY CHWY CHOMP
  6. Rex Burkhead is going to blow your mind this year...The offense was so vanilla. Wait until they start mixing it up. Come conference play, it will be heavy doses of Rex.

  8. Seems everytime Rex gets in Taylor keeps it himself...that's what I saw. Rex's time will be the next two years and that's a good thing to wait for.
  9. Jackson Jeffcoat is a BEAST...have to contain him as well
  10. Is it me or does Watson seem to get his backs confused...they ran Helu up the middle and Rex around the end too many times. I thinks it's the other way around Watson. Drives me freakin' crazy!!!
  11. So can Martinez throw or not? I read all these articles this week about his arm strength and accuracy, but he's very flashy. I am not expecting experience out of a redshirt freshman, but that many bad throws/interceptions against a team of that caliber, with defensive coverage of that caliber? And what's with the decision to put Green in at that point??? I still don't understand why Green goes in when he does - nothing good has come of it yet. Martinez has poor footwork, poor throwing mechanics, poor pocket presence and questionable decision making when pressured. But he can throw the ball hard. He was way to predictable on his throws...he was staring at the intended receiver the whole time and got picked twice because of it. There was a couple of times he should have checked down to Rex wide open in the middle, but instead he tried force the throw down field. These are things that can be fixed but need to be fixed in a hurry.
  12. Great read! I watched Rex all four year of his highschool career and is the reason I'm a Husker die hard now. His love for the game and his atheletic abilities were something I couldn't wait to see on Friday nights here in Texas.
  13. I'm sorry, but we would not be the same team without Martinez at the helm...he gives us a demension that Cody and Zach just do not have. I don't care how many weapons you have on your offense, it all starts at the QB position.
  14. LMAO! Thanks alot you resourcefull knuckleheads
  15. I'm sorry, but Burkhead was better than the rest today...granted Helu had a long touchdown run. Burkhead has yet to fumble a ball and has made every catch thrown to him. Helu dropped a pass over the middle today and Robinson, well, nothing impressive about him AT ALL. It just seems like every time Rex gets the ball, he is getting positive yardage always. Watson should have realized that when Rex had an approx. 15 yards up the middle on the first offensive play of the game for us. Sometimes Watson gets too cute and doesn't stick to what we know works...I think Bo said stop the BS and lets run up their asses until we score. That's exactly what happened. THAT IS ALL AND I'M DROOONKED AND GOIN TO BED...GREAT WIN!!! Jake WHO????????????????????????????????????????????
  16. I was at a bar last night and saw Holtz discussing Burkhead...unfortunately the sound was off. I'm wondering if anyone saw this and might a link to the video.
  17. I'd say Burkhead's 104 All Purpose Yards is improvement enough...especially on 5 carries and 2 receptions
  18. I'll tell you why Burkhead is more durable...he hits you harder than you hit him. He makes you pay for tackling him. If you hit harder than the other guy you tend to avoid injuries. Oh, and that foot injury, total fluke. I watched him since little league and he never missed a game. He played in the 5a Texas semi-final game with cracked ribs his junior year. I don't know about you but I know that rib anything hurts like hell, but he wouldn't come out of the game.
  19. Trying to find some literature on this but things like this seem to be reported only by mouth...my sources are good though. Just goes to show what an athelete he is.
