  1. 1 word: Turnovers!!! Have to stop that crap! Oh, and Rex will be playing!
  2. I can tell you this much, when N was backed up into their own endzone and with the possibility of punting into the wind to give Iowa great field position, could have been a whole different game without the 2 tough runs in a row by Burkhead. I think people forget just how tough and hard he runs and, in a game like today, made all of the difference in the world. ESPN gave him much needed love today! GO BIG RED!!!
  3. If you were wearing that black knee brace you would be walking around with a slight limp too...btw, he hates that thing!
  4. At last! Go Big Rex and Go Big Red!!!

  6. He will play at the next level...as far as the heisman, let's wait and see.
  7. How has Martinez improved dramtically since year one? His passing numbers are worse than last year and he is not the explosive running threat that he was last year. I don't know how anyone can think this team will get to the next level with him under center.. Won't happen. Amen! We need a quarterback period
  8. I think everyone is forgetting that Wiskey has the better quarterback and makes defenses respect the passing game. Therefore, defenses stacked the line in every game this year which makes yards hard to come by. That to me would be the main reason for Burkheads "lesser" stats. Give us Wilson and it would be a whole different ball game.
  9. Rex doesn't show up on lists....lists show up on Rex
  10. Sorry I'm half Texan and Half Redneck...so I can't figure out this Quote, Multiquote, report, and well ok
  11. I like that call against this kind of defense with Burkhead. Burkhead is great at reading the D and making the right cut, even if we get a small push. The younger guys only run it well right now if there's a really big hole for them to see, and against better defenses, you're right, it's been proving less effective as the season goes on and teams are ready for it. But it worked fine today against Iowa. THIS!!! I like that call against this kind of defense with Burkhead. Burkhead is great at reading the D and making the right cut, even if we get a small push. 12. You mean you like the cutsie tutsie plays that blow up in our faces....I think today shows what the identity of the offense SHOULD be and that's run first ( mainly because I can't stand watching TM pass) but also because when they go the pass, the drive always seems to stall. When you're getting chunks of yards running, KEEP RUNNING! I feel your pain Iowa because that is exactly what Coker was doing and they abandoned the run. I see it every week. Had Taylor not gotten hurt I'm afraid the running game was heading the direction it did last week. Good game and come bowl time I hope Rex breaks the record again! GBR!!!
  13. And fumbled after catching passes..... Agree that Beck's hands were to a large degree tied. No Oline push (at all) resulting in zero running game, wrs dropping balls all over the place.....not easy. Certainly agree with BigWillie that the option needs to be dumped as it simply doesn't work as we play it and SuperRex isn't a speedster to boot. If we "must" use it bring in one of the triplets for it to have any kind of chance. Rough damn game. GBR!! Funny, I thought I recalled LSU and Alabama running option pretty frequently last night. or maybe stop running it to the short side of the damn field!!!
  14. I think you're getting ahead of yourselves...the o-line is what sucked and got manhandled by NW D line. 5 tackles in the backfield on Rex is not his fault. They were getting way too much penatration. However, I do think he was a little sluggish.
  15. I think people are forgetting that Taylor was keeping the ball a lot the first part of the season and that takes away from Rex's yards and touches. I think Taylor is realizing that he doesn't have to everything and is getting Rex the ball a lot more. He will definitely be in the discussion. Go Big Rex!
  16. Did you know that D. Robinson and Rex Burkhead played against each other in the state semis 2 years in a row in Texas...just saying
  17. Plain and simple, Martinez audibles way too much, he keeps the ball way too much and he doesn't check down enough. When Burkhead is open in the flat and jumping up and down waving his arms, I think even I would see him doing that. Martinez is a ball hog and wants all of the glory for himself. That's how I see it.
  18. Martinez just made poor decisions last night in every way. I can't begin to tell you how many time Rex was wide open on the check down play or open in the flat every time the pocket collapsed. Instead, He either threw a pick or tried to keep it and run. He needs to learn how to check down and not always look to make a huge play. And on the goal line? Hand the damn ball off to Burkhead and finish the drive with 7 points!
  19. More Burkhead plain and simple...he's the only constant on offense. He drives all the way down the field twice only to have Martinez keep it and get stuffed both times. Frustrating
  20. obviously he needs to get more touches...run the F'n ball and establish the pass...once again, two of the drives were because of Rex. He needs to be the focus of N football. Martinez, well, exposed
  21. 170 yards and 2 tds on 15 carries...11.2 average REX BURKHEAD defense:
  22. The Washington Post reports that Redskins coach Mike Shanahan has been pleased with rookie RB Roy Helu and his play during the first two weeks of the season. Helu rushed for 74 yards on 10 carries, adding three catches for 38 yards in Week 2 against the Cardinals. “When you’ve got a guy like Helu, you don’t know why guys make plays, but the great ones do,” Shanahan said. “I think Helu is giving people ideas that he can make plays. He’s got some speed, some running ability and it’ll be an ongoing evaluation of him. Can he pick up blitzes? Can he hold onto the football? But I was pleased with what he’s done through the preseason and our second regular season game, and hopefully he continues to grow.” Awesome!
